Luke Getsy had plenty of explaining to do Thursday about the Bears' poor play on offense against Minnesota.

00:09 Yeah, they dropped eight.
00:10 And so we, anytime they dropped eight, the point of emphasis was if your primary
00:15 isn't open, we're extending the play.
00:16 And so he was in that mindset, right?
00:19 Darnell didn't finish that play.
00:21 If you recall, we had two people, Tatarian, Darnell, on Daniil there.
00:27 And so we were extending the play.
00:29 So we were trying to create basically what you're saying.
00:32 And so all that part of it is part of when you're third down,
00:36 when you're in the gold zone, and then people wanna drop it,
00:39 you gotta extend some plays, cuz the windows are gonna be all foggy, right?
00:41 You have people dropping all over the place.
00:43 But if you can extend the play, then now you create huge windows for yourself.
00:46 So that was kind of the thought process.
00:47 One on one with your best guy, you gotta let it fly.
00:49 Now he took three hitches, and that was his issue, right?
00:51 He's right in the middle of the pocket, he took three hitches, slid in, he's asleep.
00:54 He really ran himself into the left guard.
00:56 And so yeah, it's one hitch, let it fly.
00:59 And if you feel some hesitation, then he's right.
01:02 If you get the hesitation, then you gotta go get your check down, and
01:04 he kinda didn't do that.
01:05 So one of those experiences that we gotta learn from.
01:08 Cody's awesome because he can play all three spots for us, right?
01:11 If we really need him to.
01:12 And no, he just had a little rough day, he knows that.
01:16 I mean, he's played great for us, he's done great things for us, and
01:18 he's a freak.
01:19 He's a stud every single day in this building.
01:21 So we love Cody.
01:22 And that's never an easy thing if someone's not playing to their capability,
01:27 right?
01:27 But he's done a great job, and we're excited to get him back.
01:30 We were 21 personnel, so you got to see kinda how they,
01:33 what their plan was against us.
01:34 Were they gonna go big, or were they gonna go sub defense?
01:37 They went sub defense.
01:38 Justin did a great job.
01:39 He checked the protection, he just didn't react the right way.
01:42 When you make the protection, and you know you have a guy free,
01:44 he's gotta drift right and throw it.
01:46 And he didn't do that.
01:47 But he did the hard part.
01:48 He recognized the defense that they had never shown us.
01:52 Is that the one we ran, we ran the Darrington, purchased about two yards?
01:56 Yeah, no, that was our premier look.
01:58 That was a premier look.
02:00 We had that as a check that we wanted to get to when they played their double A
02:03 defense.
02:03 We had it where we wanted, we just didn't finish those blocks.
02:07 And the guy, I mean, I think the guy even reached out and
02:10 kicked and tripped Darrington on it.
02:12 So we were, like that one was one where we were really close to having about a 15,
02:16 25 yard gain on that one.
02:18 We had the exact thing we wanted, we prepared for it.
02:20 That was what we wanted there.
