00:20 - All right, we are in Boonton, New Jersey.
00:23 Forest County, you know,
00:24 not far from where George Washington had his headquarters.
00:28 God, don't lead up to the Revolutionary War.
00:31 And while this place is J&M Grill,
00:34 it's attached to J&M Catering.
00:37 They do catering next door.
00:39 But this place has a nice little truck set out here.
00:43 Beautiful area, beautiful, Boonton.
00:46 And they serve hot dogs.
00:47 They serve three different types of hot dogs.
00:50 Steamed, grilled, and deep fried.
00:52 Of course, the steamed hot dogs are subrets,
00:56 and the grilled and the deep fried are both dumens.
01:00 The pork-beef blend, or the steamed subrets.
01:04 And you know, this is a typical, beautiful,
01:08 just like afternoon,
01:10 you wanna kick back and have a hot dog,
01:12 you come down here to Boonton.
01:13 But we're gonna give 'em a try
01:14 and see just how good these hot dogs actually are.

02:13 that is, I'll get a pork hot dog,
02:18 $20.00.
02:20 I'll get a splitter's deep fried with chili.
02:25 - Chili only, or you want it all the way?
02:27 - Just chili only.
02:28 And I'll get a classic pork grill.
02:33 - Pork grill, okay, what would you like on that?
02:38 Can I suggest, do you like sour cream?
02:41 - No, I don't.
02:42 - Do you like spicy red onion sauce?
02:45 It's homemade.

02:50 - No mustard.
02:53 And I'll have the fresh squeezed lemonade.

03:44 - I got the classic straw because you asked me for one.
03:48 - Thank you so much.
03:51 - Alright, well we have these hot dogs here.
04:01 First thing you see is the bun to dog ratio.
04:04 On the steamed dog, it is very good.
04:08 The bun feels warm, which is always a good positive sign.
04:12 There's good colorization on the hot dog.
04:15 The most important part is how this actually tastes.
04:19 This is a double right off the ball.
04:40 Very good hot dog, very good taste, very good blend.
04:44 It's got a good snap, and it has a good taste.
04:50 That's the important part.
04:52 This is a solid hot dog.
04:54 And they make their own fresh squeezed lemonade.
04:58 I'm gonna give the lemonade a 7.8.
05:04 Now here's the chili dog.
05:09 I got the chili dog on a deep fried hot dog.
05:12 Now, this is a Duman's hot dog, pork beef blend.
05:18 And they've been here, by the way, for 17 years.
05:21 So they've been here for a long time.
05:22 They're getting close to 20 years
05:24 they've been here in Boonton.
05:26 But here's their chili dog.
05:27 I have it on a ripper type of hot dog,
05:30 the rucksack style.
05:31 Let's see how this dog tastes.
05:35 (upbeat music)
05:37 Kind of a mild, very meaty chili.
05:45 Dog has a good snap, good taste to it.
05:53 I'm gonna give this one a hustle triple.
06:00 Of course, they come in these,
06:02 I guess these are called doilies.
06:05 They're just made for a hot dog.
06:07 Or me, Claire.
06:09 You can use whatever you want,
06:10 but they fit a hot dog just well.
06:12 And here's the grilled dog.
06:14 Now it looks like they split the dog a little bit.
06:17 And well, I'm stepping out of my comfort zone.
06:19 This is the red hot onions.
06:21 Not always the best thing for me,
06:24 but she says it's homemade,
06:27 so I'm gonna give this a try.
06:29 (upbeat music)
06:32 No.
06:45 It's not half bad.
06:57 I'm gonna give,
06:58 you know, I'm usually not a big fan of those onions.
07:01 This is very good.
07:02 You know, those are the best hot onions I,
07:08 I'm gonna call this,
07:11 I'm gonna give it a home run.
07:15 Raise the apple.
07:16 - Oh, raise the apple.
07:18 (cheering)
07:27 - Did you just give hot onions a home run?
07:30 - I don't really like hot onions,
07:32 but this is the best hot onions I've ever had.
07:36 I like onion rings,
07:41 but I don't really like sauteed onions,
07:43 but it's got more like a,
07:45 a smooth onion taste,
07:48 not a hard onion taste.
07:50 Those onions actually,
07:51 what I don't like about onions
07:52 is sometimes they get in the way of the food.
07:56 It's a smooth, spicy taste.
07:58 I'm just hanging out with my good friend, Frank.
08:02 You know, this place is good.
08:04 It got friendly service,
08:07 excellent hot dogs.
08:08 It's the type of place that makes you excited to find things
08:11 and you know,
