00:00 The last weekend of October is upon us just ahead of Halloween on Tuesday.
00:05 If you've got fall fun activities or something spooky planned, you better keep an eye on the weather.
00:10 Meteorologist Tony Laubach joins us from Erie, Colorado, where folks are getting in some Halloween treats ahead of nature's tricks. Tony?
00:21 Yeah, and I'm so disappointed, Kevin, that nobody got the fun in the fact that I'm in a city called Erie talking about Halloween.
00:30 But you know what? That's okay. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks that fast.
00:33 It's Friday, folks. It is the frightfully Friday ahead of Halloween.
00:37 Everybody getting all excited for the weekend of tricks and treats.
00:41 And there's going to be a little bit of both in that, depending on what you're in for the weather.
00:44 I'm here at Anderson Farms, as we mentioned, in Erie, Colorado, one of the hubs for Halloween fun.
00:49 Behind me, the corn maze, one of the biggest attractions here.
00:52 And you see the big pumpkin standards in the background. These things are great. I love these things.
00:56 These have certainly got a lot of picture-taking out here.
00:58 But the weather is going to start turning cold, and it's a perfect segue into what it is I want to talk to you about.
01:04 And that is ways to keep warm if you're going to be out and about in this colder weather, because a lot of folks are going to see a cooler Halloween here.
01:11 We're talking about cold-weather costume tips.
01:13 It's a good time to really think about picking a warm costume, especially if you're going to be dealing with the cold weather.
01:19 And buy a costume that is a little bit bigger to allow for some more layers underneath.
01:24 I actually do this when I go to football games in the winter.
01:26 I'll buy a jersey that's a little bit bigger so I can wear some stuff underneath it.
01:30 And accessorize. You can use those accessories. Wigs, hats, gloves, boots, whatever it is, to really add to some of that warmth.
01:38 Carry some hand and feet warmers. Those are invaluable.
01:41 I love having those for my shoes. I love having those for my gloves.
01:44 And move around. Make sure you eat. And of course, stay dry.
01:48 Those are going to be the key terms for you in terms of keeping warm.
01:51 Now, we're going to start to change the weather a little bit.
01:54 It was a beautiful day here today for folks that were out and about in the corn maze.
01:58 Blue skies, chilly temperatures, but that is going to get even worse as we head into tomorrow.
02:04 Folks in Denver likely going to see their first accumulating snow of the year looking 3 to 6 inches generally there in the city.
02:11 But notice, though, that 17%, that 6 to 10 inches, there are going to be some folks that are going to see some of that heavier snow, Kevin.
02:18 And we can be talking 6 inches plus for a good chunk of the front range from Wyoming, Cheyenne, all the way down across Denver.
02:25 Maybe even points further south. They're going to be the big first snow of the season.
02:28 Right in time for Halloween, we're going to call that Mother Nature's trick. Or to us, weather gurus, maybe a treat?
02:35 I couldn't agree more, Tony. Thank you for that report, and we look forward to some snow chasing from you.
