00:00 Hello and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04 Low pressure still very much in charge of our weather as we head through the second
00:07 half of this week. Situated out to the northwest of the UK, it's slowly bringing frontal systems
00:11 across the UK as we head towards the second half of this week, meaning some showery conditions
00:16 continue. A ridge of high pressure then develops through Friday and Saturday, but it doesn't
00:20 last long with low pressure awaiting in the wings to bring further wet and windy weather
00:24 through the second half of the weekend.
00:27 Back to the here and now though, and those showery conditions that we've seen overnight
00:29 will continue through much of today. Pushing in from the west, so those heavier showers
00:34 always confine to western coast and southern coast as well, where we could see some heavy
00:37 downpours and perhaps hear the odd rumble of thunder through this afternoon.
00:41 Parts of Scotland, northern England and south east England always stay in the driest though,
00:45 plenty of sunny spells here through this afternoon, but perhaps not feeling too warm in that sunshine
00:49 with blustery winds, and temperatures generally around average for the time of year, so 10
00:53 to 12 degrees across the south and generally in the high single figures across the northern
00:57 half of the UK.
00:59 Through Thursday evening, particularly for the southern half of the UK, those showery
01:03 conditions likely to continue into the start of Friday morning, slowly pushing their way
01:07 eastwards through the early hours, and again they could be heavy at times and we could
01:11 hear the odd rumble of thunder overnight. But for the northern half of the UK, generally
01:15 those showers starting to ease with plenty of dry and clear weather around. So those
01:19 clear skies and with light winds, that could mean those temperatures drop out down to the
01:22 single figures, perhaps even just below zero across parts of Scotland with a touch of frost
01:26 to start on Friday. Holding up a little bit milder though across the south with temperatures
01:30 around 6 or 7 degrees.
01:33 So a cloudy and damp start for many across the southern half of the UK on Friday morning.
01:38 Those showers will slowly clear their way eastwards through the morning, leaving a nice
01:42 dry day for most of us, plenty of sunshine around. Still a few showers across parts of
01:46 northern Ireland and into western Scotland, but many of us seeing a much drier day, and
01:50 with lighter winds perhaps feeling a little bit more pleasant in that sunshine too. Temperatures
01:54 around 11 to 13 degrees across the south, but still holding up into those high single
01:58 figures across parts of Scotland.
02:01 Showers will gradually start to ease overnight, so leaving a chilly start to the weekend,
02:05 but you can find out more about those weather updates on our YouTube channel and don't forget
02:09 to follow us on social media. Bye bye.
