  • last year
California and other areas of the western United States may face the first major storm of the season next week, including the chance for gusty winds and heavy mountain snow.
Transcript
00:00 It has been a wet stretch along the West Coast,
00:03 but that's not abnormal for this time of year.
00:06 All things considered,
00:06 though Seattle down to Portland in the
00:09 last 10 days have gotten just about
00:11 a month's worth of rain just for
00:13 perspective here Seattle in a given
00:15 November gets a little more than 6
00:17 inches of rain and we're going to
00:18 keep adding to the total with our
00:21 next storm that's currently on its
00:22 way into the West Coast, largely
00:24 bringing rainfall to the valleys.
00:26 The lowlands as you're looking out
00:28 towards Seattle toward Portland,
00:29 which is a little bit higher than
00:31 the high of 5 towards cities like
00:33 Eugene for example, and then into
00:35 the Cascade Mountains, the Olympics,
00:36 and the northern Rockies.
00:37 We could see a couple snowflakes mixing in.
00:40 This is going to make travel
00:41 pretty uncomfortable in spots.
00:42 It's not a blockbuster storm,
00:44 but I would call it more of a nuisance,
00:46 especially after such a rainy stretch.
00:48 Friday, the storm continues eastward,
00:49 bringing more in the way of snowfall
00:51 toward the Cascades and toward
00:52 the northern Rockies.
00:53 The Bitterroot Range,
00:54 the Lewis Range of Idaho and Montana,
00:56 with some snow in the higher elevations.
00:58 As we head to the weekend, well, here we go.
01:01 Again, take a look at Seattle where we're
01:03 looking at more in the way of rainfall.
01:05 Friday, Saturday, Sunday were soggy.
01:06 We're in the 50s and it really is going
01:08 to be a wet stretch even into next week.
01:11 That next storm bringing the weekend rain,
01:13 but there's a third storm that we're watching.
01:15 So here's the current storm
01:16 moving into the West Coast.
01:18 Now here's our weekend storm
01:19 with more rain on tap,
01:21 but we're really honing in on storm
01:23 #3 that's setting up for next
01:24 week across the West Coast.
01:26 Not just the Northwest,
01:27 but even as you get back down
01:30 across the Golden State,
01:31 you know for California this is one of
01:33 the biggest storms we've had so far this year.
01:36 We're looking at a lot of rain,
01:38 not just in NorCal,
01:39 but in SoCal as well.
01:41 As you head back down toward San Francisco,
01:43 toward Fresno,
01:43 even out toward San Bernardino in LA.
01:45 We are looking at rain in your
01:47 AccuWeather exclusive forecast.
01:48 This is going to make travel
01:50 really uncomfortable.
01:50 We could see some pretty significant
01:52 mountain snowfall into the Sierra,
01:53 even back to the Cascades in the Rockies.
01:55 We may have some snow with this storm as well.
01:58 Just as an example,
01:59 you can see San Francisco as
02:00 we get into early next week.
02:02 Here come the clouds on Monday and
02:03 then there's the rain with the storm
02:05 itself Tuesday and Wednesday.
02:06 More of the same as we look down to LA.
02:09 It's really not until Wednesday that
02:10 we see the rain come into the city,
02:12 but the clouds set you up as you get to
02:14 Wednesday. Look how temperatures tumble
02:15 as well from the 80s and upper 70s
02:17 back down to the mid 70s as the rain
02:19 comes in. Stay safe and we'll be
02:21 here to guide you through the storm.
