Brazilian rider Rogério Munuera, 41-year-old, died as a result of a crash which happened at Interlagos during the third round of the Campeonato SuperBike Brazil (BRSBK). The rider competed in the SBK Light class, sixth race of the program on Sunday, 24 June 2018, riding his Kawasaki Ninja ZX10R #88.
On the second lap of the race, Rogério Munuera lost control of his bike on the approach to "S do Senna", just after crossing the finish line and crashed into tyre barriers.
The rider was attended by the emergency crews a few seconds after the accident and was taken to the Grajaú Hospital in São Paulo for evaluation. Initially, the accident showed no major consequences but later Rogério Munuera's state of health quickly worsened and he died of internal bleeding several hours after the crash.
Rogério Munuera was the first of three riders to die at Interlagos in less than one year. Maurício Paludete was killed on 14 April 2019, and Danilo Berto on 26 May 2019.
