00:00 The congestion rate in prisons across the country has increased by 376%.
00:07 According to the San Diego District Attorney, Justice Carl Miranda,
00:10 more than 200,000 persons deprived of liberty or PDLs are in the Bureau of Jail Management Penalty,
00:17 while more than 50,000 are in the Bureau of Corrections.
00:21 Because of this, the Justice Sector Coordinating Council was formed
00:26 to help the decongestion efforts in prisons.
00:30 The Supreme Court, DOJ and DILG are here with us.
00:34 And to speed up the handling of PDL cases,
00:37 the implementation of justice will also be speeded up.
00:40 If they come together as a sector, the Justice Sector,
00:47 coming in to coordinate with each other,
00:50 it will be easier and faster to solve the problems.
00:54 So, what happened is that there was a Jail Decongestion Summit
01:00 because one of the biggest problems of the Justice Sector
01:04 is the decongestion of our jails and also prisons.
