00:00 The workers of the multiplatform Telesur have paid tribute to memory of the journalists
00:05 murdered in Gaza and Lebanon.
00:07 For more details, contact our colleague Gladys Quezada.
00:10 Good night, Gladys.
00:11 Tell us.
00:12 Hi, thanks for the time and also for the contact here from the south and also for Telesur English.
00:19 Right now I'm at the sidewalk near the headquarters of Telesur here in Caracas, Venezuela, because
00:25 the staff of Telesur is paying a heartfelt homage to the journalists and other media
00:31 workers that have been killed in the Israeli siege against Gaza Strip.
00:37 Also as we know, many and several other media workers of agencies that are present here
00:43 in Venezuela, they came together and to join us in this homage and this tribute that we
00:49 are paying to the media workers that have been killed.
00:52 Recently, Telesur and the president of Telesur, Patricia Villegas, posted on X her condemnation
01:01 of the killing of other journalists, especially the two journalists, the two reporters that
01:06 were killed during their work.
01:08 They were reporting, as the case of Farah Omar and Rabih Mamari, a journalist and her
01:15 cameraman.
01:16 They were reporting in the southern border of Lebanon and they were attacked by Israeli
01:23 forces with an airstrike and they perished there.
01:27 They were killed in a minute and they, well, passed away.
01:32 We have this memorial, this felt tribute, because also the Committee of Protection of
01:39 the Journalists have been reporting day by day of the killing of the journalists in this
01:44 siege.
01:45 In this case, as of November 24th, of 53 journalists and media workers that were confirmed dead,
01:51 46 of them were Palestinian, four Israeli, and three of them were Lebanese.
01:58 As of today, November 24th, 11 journalists were reported injured, three of them were
02:04 reported missing, and 18 of them were reported arrested only because they were fulfilling
02:12 and complying with their duty of informing.
02:16 The international organizations and media and the international social unions also have
02:20 been demanding the protection of journalists and reporters during these attacks, this siege
02:26 of Israeli forces, because one of the main claims is that Israel is trying to silence
02:31 the reporters that are bringing up the truth of the killings, of the genocide, and of the
02:38 war crimes that Israeli forces are committing in Gaza.
02:42 Recently also, our reporters, our colleagues back there, who also bring every day the truth
02:48 about Gaza, they were reporting about the latest killing of a Palestinian journalist,
02:54 alongside with his family, because the targeted are not only the journalists, but also the
03:01 entire families and the friends and the close ones, and they are bombing the buildings where
03:07 the journalists are taking shelter.
03:09 And also, this is a war crime.
03:11 This is a flagrant violation of international law, because as we know, the reporters, the
03:16 journalists, the media workers, as well as the doctors and nurses and other health workers
03:23 are protected by international law, but this is a flagrant violation.
03:28 We stress this information.
03:31 As you can see, and behind me, there are 53 workers of Tel Assur that are holding candles,
03:39 lighting candles, and also they are holding banners with the name of every journalist
03:46 that have been killed in the Gaza Strip during this Israeli siege that started on October
03:52 the 7th.
03:53 This is a report so far.
03:55 This tribute is just starting.
03:57 We will have more contacts and, of course, more information in other emissions and future
04:03 contacts.
