00:00 We're here at the Stars, the Cowboys are preparing for the
00:02 Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football.
00:04 Are there any whispers you're hearing around here?
00:07 - The use of the inspirational day,
00:12 use your inspirational moment,
00:15 and how do you capture that and how do you grab that?
00:17 I'm not saying the players were inspired
00:21 by Dolly Parton the other day.
00:23 I would say they weren't.
00:25 I would say that--
00:25 - I mean, they didn't watch it.
00:27 - They didn't watch it.
00:28 And they probably barely know who she is.
00:31 Is that fair?
00:31 - No, everyone knows who Dolly Parton is.
00:33 - If you're a 24 year old football player.
00:35 - You know who Dolly Parton is.
00:36 You may not have seen her live perform,
00:38 but you know who she is.
00:39 - All right, by the way, it was--
00:40 - She did great.
00:41 - It was great because it was adorable.
00:43 - Yeah, it was really cool.
00:44 - Okay, but--
00:47 - Not a lot of almost 80 year olds come out
00:49 in a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader uniform.
00:51 - It worked for her.
00:51 - It worked great.
00:53 - Tony Romo apparently liked it on national TV.
00:55 Apparently he liked it way too much.
00:57 But her presence impacted the vibe in the building.
01:03 So not player inspiration, but vibe in the building.
01:06 Well, around the bend, here comes Jimmy Johnson.
01:10 And if you could somehow, that's on December 30th,
01:14 if you could somehow capture something like that.
01:17 Not that the Cowboys need that much of it at home.
01:19 They are on an incredible roll.
01:21 - 13 games.
01:22 - Yeah, win five more at home.
01:25 It's down the line a little bit.
01:26 And you tie the franchise record.
01:28 They once upon a time won 18 in a row at home.
01:32 And here's why it's substantial.
01:33 This is an era of parody.
01:37 You're not supposed to do that.
01:39 The other teams are supposed to be as good as you.
01:41 In Tom Landry's time, it was not an era of parody
01:45 as the Cowboys went to a record 20 straight playoff years.
01:50 20 straight years they went to the playoffs.
01:52 That'll never happen again.
01:53 That's impossible.
01:55 And during that time, that's when they won
01:57 their 18th straight at home at Texas Stadium.
01:59 And of course that stadium was a character
02:01 all by itself on TV.
02:03 A real live, not live, a real thing of a TV character.
02:07 Well, relatively speaking, it was way easier
02:12 to win 18 straight at home then.
02:14 In a time when if you were dominant,
02:16 you got to stay dominant.
02:17 No free agency, all the rest.
02:19 No salary cap.
02:20 To do what these Cowboys are doing at home
02:23 is quite remarkable.
02:25 And the only problem is the way the playoffs
02:27 are setting up right now,
02:29 they won't get to play a playoff game at home.
02:32 So you better find, in addition to your great home formula
02:35 with Dolly Parton and Jimmy Johnson,
02:37 you better find a road formula.
02:39 Maybe Dolly and Jimmy will--
02:40 - Hit the road.
02:41 - Hit the road with the Cowboys.
02:42 What a road concert with Dolly and Jimmy.
02:44 (laughing)
