00:03 Chesterfield's Council Housing Chief has welcomed plans for 22 new affordable properties
00:09 to be built in Staveley and Middlecroft to help meet waiting lists and the rise for need

00:15 The announcement comes after Chesterfield Borough Council confirmed it was continuing
00:18 with efforts to address a significant number of empty council properties across the borough,
00:23 following difficulties with repairs and waiting lists.
00:27 Councillor Jean Innes, who is Chesterfield Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Housing
00:31 said "Creating attractive places for people to live is at the heart of what we do, and
00:36 once built, these new properties will provide a welcome addition to our housing stock and
00:41 be let to people on our housing register."
00:44 The latest project will see the addition of nine houses on Westwood Avenue, two bungalows
00:49 on Ringwood Avenue and two bungalows at Court Place.
00:53 It comes in addition to four bungalows on Wensley Way, two houses on Paisley Close and
00:58 three houses at Aston Court.
01:01 Each of the nine properties at Westwood Avenue will be at nearer school and public transport
01:05 routes and will be regarded as affordable rental properties with Chesterfield Borough
