00:00 DeMarcus Lawrence is the Dallas Cowboys nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award.
00:05 Such an honor. We both know D-Law. How deserved is this?
00:09 Well, you did a good job. You posed this question to Dan Quinn, who of course has gotten to know him very well.
00:13 And I thought Quinn's answer to you was really insightful about the player and the man.
00:19 Yeah. I mean, he basically said it's so deserved.
00:22 He has the biggest heart that he wears on his sleeve.
00:25 And he's made not only an impact in this community, but his own family, the locker room.
00:30 He's not a better teammate out there.
00:32 And obviously, Dan Quinn has been around a lot of teams and a lot of teammates.
00:36 It's also cool, of course, that he follows in the footsteps now of Dak Prescott,
00:39 who not only got the Cowboys nomination last year, but won the honor of NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year.
00:46 The highest honor you can get as an individual in this league because it's about player and person.
00:50 And there's quite a tradition here because Staubach won it, Aikman won it, Witten won it.
00:56 And down by the locker room, there's these gigantic--when you go into the dining hall, there's these gigantic signs.
01:02 And pretty soon--I don't know, there must be a Dak sign erected.
01:06 Come in. Yeah.
01:07 But there will be an indication in this building that DeMarcus Ware was a nominee as well.
01:12 DeMarcus--
01:13 Lawrence.
01:14 Lawrence was a nominee as well.
01:15 And yes, well-deserved as a player, well-deserved as a person.
01:18 One of my favorite things about D-Law is I was talking to him about Thanksgiving,
01:22 and he said that he fries his turkey for his family.
01:25 And a lot of the players, they don't have time to do so, right?
01:28 Right.
01:29 Like, they're playing on Thanksgiving, but D-Law takes so much pride in what he does and his family
01:34 that he's like, "I have to make sure that I do that."
01:37 And I think that's really cool and kind of a telling sign.
01:40 Here he is as a human.
01:41 You know, he's 31 now, and so I bet you when he was 21, maybe he didn't take the time to do the fried turkey.
01:47 But as you come along, you start to realize, you know what, I can spare a little--I can pull myself out of the weight room,
01:53 I can pull myself out of the film room, and do a little something for everybody.
01:58 And D-Law--Tank, as we like to call him--has done a lot of that over the course of his career in Dallas.
