00:00 Hello and welcome, these are the top headlines making the news today from our newsrooms across the North West.
00:04 Campaigners have staged protests at BAE Systems in Salisbury in the latest demonstration against arms being sent to Israel.
00:11 The campaign group Workers for a Free Palestine said it had also blockaded sites in Bournemouth, Glasgow and Brighton,
00:17 some of which are operated by defence giant BAE Systems.
00:20 The demonstrators are urging BAE and other companies to end their ties with Israel and cease all weapons, defence and supplies trading with them.
00:28 A man who crashed his e-scooter on Blackpool Promenade was said to be a responsible driver who had been trying to save the new protective safety gear when he tragically died.
00:36 39-year-old Andrew Hughes died when he lost control of his vehicle on the Middle Walk Promenade on Sunday June 25th.
00:42 An inquest held at a Blackpool town hall heard how Andrew from Portmouth Isle had been trying to get used to his new e-scooter,
00:49 which apparently was a lot more powerful than his old one when he fell off at around 12.40pm that day.
00:55 Police are hunting a gang who battered a man and stole cash from his wig and home.
00:59 Sources say the victim was subjected to up to 15 minutes of violence at an address in Ashton Road in Goulbourne,
01:04 while accomplices searched the property for valuables.
01:07 The 64-year-old victim was taken to hospital with serious head injuries, although his condition since has not been publicised.
01:14 House builders have applied to build 90 new homes on land close to Halton Village near Lancaster.

01:28 A Burnley woman is kicking off 2024 by braving the shave to help pay for counselling for those bereaved by suicide.
01:34 Pauline Smith, one of five organisers behind Support After Suicide, hopes to raise £750 when she has her head shaved at the Hair and Hounds pub in Halifax Road on New Year's Day.
