00:00 Hello and welcome, these are the top headlines making the news today from our newsrooms across the North West.
00:05 Blackpool Magistrates Court is to shut permanently after bosses ruled it too costly to repair the complex after the discovery of crumbling concrete.
00:12 The courthouse on Chapel Street, built in the 1960s, was closed in November for investigations into the presence of wrack, that's reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete, in the building.
00:23 Now the Ministry of Justice has decided to close the courthouse permanently, leaving the Falkoes without a criminal court, until a new magistrates court is built at Devonshire Road as part of an investment of around £40 million.
00:35 There's been an angry backlash after yet another Wigan speed camera was cut down, this one falling dangerously into a main road.
00:41 On an already hazardous night due to wintry conditions, the safety camera in Wellie was felled at some point on the evening of Tuesday January 16th.
00:48 This is the fourth such attack in recent weeks, other devices having been dramatically disabled on Wallgate, Warrington Road and Spring Road in Kitgreen.
00:57 Three potential designs for the structure that will replace Preston's old tram bridge are to be put to the public in the coming week.
01:03 The long-awaited blueprints are due to appear once final arrangements have been made to start preparing the site for the work that will be needed to install the new crossing between Avon and Park and Penrhythm.
01:12 It's now almost five years since its crumbling predecessor was condemned and closed off after a survey found that it was at risk of collapsing into the river that it spans.
01:20 Comedian John Richardson was the guest of honour at the grand opening of the Urology Department at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
01:26 The Lancaster-born entertainer cut the ribbon to officially open a new department, which will welcome its first patients by the end of January.
01:33 During his visit to the department, John was given the opportunity to learn some of the clinical skills used by staff in the Urology Department, including learning to stitch wounds, fit catheters and use a cystoscope.
01:44 And Zany wedding singer Gavin Young made a vow to ski in his underpants if he could raise £500 for Pendleside Hospice in a single day.
01:52 Sharing the madcap idea on social media after an overnight snowfall, the public flooded his donation page, leaving Gavin of Paddyham in Burnley with no choice but to go on the piste.
02:02 And so far he's smashed his original target and sum by raising the fantastic sum of £1,830 and still counting. Good for him.
02:11 In the weather, you'll need to know this. Wednesday will remain frosty, but it'll be a crisp winter's day with plenty of sunshine.
02:17 A cold night, obviously, leaving Thursday another dry, sunny and cold day with a maximum temperature of 3 degrees.
02:25 That's it for now. Thanks for watching. Wrap up warm. We'll see you tomorrow.
02:28 Thank you.
