The next few days are expected to have calm weather for most of the Northeast until a soaking storm system arrives early next week.

00:00 Alright, we may actually use our snow
00:02 budgets in some of these northeastern
00:03 cities this winter.
00:04 Now look at the snowfall in New York City.
00:07 As we look at back at past years
00:09 and also this coming year,
00:11 the historical average for one winter
00:13 season in New York City Central
00:15 Park is almost 30 inches.
00:17 Now, if you look at what happened last winter,
00:19 it was only 2.3 inches.
00:21 That's what we're talking about here.
00:23 This this snowless streak we've been on now.
00:25 As Paul Passlock was saying,
00:27 the prediction for this winter in
00:29 places like New York City is for some
00:31 snowstorms and the prediction is for 18
00:33 to 26 inches of snow in New York City.
00:36 This weekend or not this weekend.
00:38 This winter I should say,
00:39 and many of you are saying,
00:41 yeah, believe it when I see it.
00:43 Well, so will we and we'll see if we do see it.
00:47 The record longest streak without
00:49 an inch of snow.
00:50 New York City.
00:51 Yes, it's a record in a big way.
00:53 666 days we have seen since the last
00:55 one inch snowfall in New York City.
00:58 That's really amazing.
00:59 Well, right now it's snowing in New York,
01:01 just not New York City.
01:03 We've got some lake effect snow coming
01:05 off a Lake Ontario where we've seen
01:07 some pretty heavy returns here and
01:09 this tells you this is a really good
01:11 microcosm of lake effect snow.
01:13 You're looking at Oneida County.
01:14 The northern part of Oneida County
01:16 is under a lake effect snow warning.
01:18 The southern portion of Oneida County
01:19 is under a winter weather advisory
01:21 because we know it one or two miles
01:24 makes such a big difference with
01:25 with how much snow you get here.
01:27 We've seen between 6 and 9 inches of snow.
01:30 These are snow reports that have
01:32 come in from New York coming off
01:33 of the lake there and if you look
01:36 at what's where these are,
01:37 they're coming in from areas between
01:39 Syracuse and Lauville into portions
01:40 of the Tug Hill Plateau,
01:42 so it's a pretty good snow event
01:43 for you and still could see a
01:45 couple more inches before this
01:47 thing winds down before midnight.
01:48 Thursday's forecast shows a chilly day,
01:50 but a dry one across the Northeast,
01:52 New York City.
01:53 Hey, the next three days look good,
01:55 but the latter part of the day
01:57 the latter part of the weekend doesn't.
01:59 Here comes a big storm up the coast
02:01 and early next week we're going
02:03 to see some big impacts here.
02:05 Sunday night through Tuesday from
02:06 the Virginias all the way up into.
02:09 New England,
02:09 we're going to be seeing strong coastal
02:11 winds, beach erosion, a flooding risk,
02:13 a little bit of snow in the mountains,
02:15 but the big story here is going to be
02:18 heavy rain, especially on Monday.
02:19 A soaking rainfall is likely for us
02:21 with localized flooding and travel
02:23 disruptions around New England,
02:24 New York City, Philadelphia.
02:25 the big cities are going to be
02:27 getting a big rain early next week.
