00:00 "Maybe in a little while, the TKM will issue some guidelines for boosters."
00:08 The health ministry is likely to issue new directives for COVID-19 booster jabs soon,
00:13 especially for those who are more vulnerable to complications from the virus, said its
00:18 Minister Zulkifli Ahmad.
00:20 Zulkifli said the take-up rate for the second COVID-19 vaccine booster stands at 54 percent,
00:27 while the rate for the third booster is quite low.
00:30 He said there is sufficient stock of vaccines available which can help protect the people
00:34 from any new COVID-19 variants, and advised members of the public to wear face masks in
00:39 crowded areas and to quarantine themselves for five days if they test positive for COVID-19.
00:45 Zulkifli also urged the public to also follow the basic COVID-19 SOPs, such as good hygiene
00:51 practices and wearing a face mask if unwell.
00:55 Health Director-General Dr Radzi Abuhassan, in his COVID-19 update yesterday, said the
01:00 majority of the 12,757 cases reported over the past week exhibited mild symptoms and
01:07 did not require hospitalization.
01:09 However, Radzi also said the ministry was anticipating an increase in COVID-19 cases
01:16 after the Christmas and New Year celebrations, as well as due to the school holidays, which
01:21 start on Saturday.
