00:00Sarawak Opposition Leader Chong Chiang Zheng has urged the state government to provide

00:06a clear time frame on its proposed takeover of regional airline Mars Wings, Sundaran Berhad.

00:12Chong said that with flight fares going up, Sarawakians are now asking when the takeover

00:16will be completed.

00:18He said the state government must also be transparent about the entire airline acquisition

00:23process and provide Sarawakians with an estimated timeline.

00:27He also asked the state government to explain the acquisition price and operating costs

00:31of the airline.

00:33Noting the high flight fares, Chong also said there are many ways the state government could

00:37negotiate directly with airlines to secure cheaper ticket prices for Sarawakians during

00:42festive seasons.

00:44He said it was up to the state government to take action if they are willing to do so.

00:48In July last year, the Sarawak government agreed to take over rural air services from

00:53the federal government, paving the way for a takeover of Mars Wings, which is a subsidiary

00:58of Malaysia Airlines.

00:59However, the time frame for the takeover appeared to have been delayed.
