00:02 - Good morning guys and happy Friday.
00:04 Remember that I will never say happy Fry-yay.
00:07 It's actually in my contract.
00:08 Let's start our weather headlines off
00:10 the coast of the island of Hispaniola.
00:13 That's where a Carnival cruise ship
00:14 came to the aid of a ship in distress
00:16 that was about 30 miles north of the Dominican Republic.
00:19 The small vessel had capsized, dumping the crew overboard.
00:22 The nearby Carnival cruise ship, Vista,
00:25 headed to the scene after receiving
00:27 an emergency alert signal and saved 'em.
00:30 Our next story brings us to New York City,
00:32 where an artist is unveiling his amazing creation,
00:35 an illuminated masterpiece that just might give
00:38 Clark Griswold a run for his money.
00:40 Some 19,000 lights illuminate a vacant lot
00:44 in the heart of Manhattan, like colorful stems
00:46 blooming into a field of lights.
00:48 British artist Bruce Monroe presents
00:51 his large-scale art project called
00:53 Field of Light in New York.
00:55 It'll be there for a year.
00:56 The artist says it's a very gentle experience
00:58 and everybody will hopefully leave it
01:00 with a warm heart and a smile on their face.
01:03 And finally, you've heard the expression
01:05 a bull in a china shop.
01:06 How about a bull on the train tracks?
01:09 Me neither.
01:10 A runaway bull appeared on train tracks
01:12 yesterday morning at Newark Penn Station,
01:14 a major commuter hub in Newark, New Jersey,
01:17 prompting the temporary suspension of rail services
01:19 to and from New York City.
01:22 I did a check on the Chicago Bulls' recent game schedule
01:24 and the last time they were in the area
01:26 was back on the weekend after Thanksgiving
01:28 when they played the Brooklyn Nets.
01:31 Okay guys, it's Friday and that means it's time
01:33 for this week's AccuWeather social poll.
01:36 This week's question, if you're vacationing
01:38 for the holidays, would you prefer the beach
01:40 or the mountains?
01:41 Right now the beach has a pretty sizable lead.
01:44 I think I would go with the mountains on this one.
01:46 'Tis the season for snuggling by a warm fireplace
01:49 and I think mountains are better for that.
01:52 If you want to cast your vote, just head over
01:53 to the AccuWeather Facebook or Twitter pages,
01:56 or X, to join in the fun.
01:58 Okay, Bernie and Christina, I'm going to guess
01:59 Bernie chooses mountains because he spends
02:02 his summers at the beach and Christina also
02:04 chooses mountains because she loves to ski.
02:07 - He's got me right for sure.
02:09 - That's why he's a meteorologist.
02:10 - Great at forecasting our thoughts.
02:13 All right, let's take you to this year.
02:16 If you want a little more in the way of fun weather takes,
