00:00 Thursday a meeting of the Friends of the Landless Workers Movement, MST, took place in Cuba.
00:07 It was held in view of the 40th anniversary of the movement, which will take place in
00:11 January.
00:12 The event was held at the modern year Luther King Memorial Center and was attended by locals
00:18 who celebrated the long history of the mutual cooperation and solidarity between the Caribbean
00:23 country and the Brazilian social movement.
00:26 And historical representatives of Cuban organizations such as the National Association of Small
00:32 Farmers took the opportunity to salute the MST's regional leadership in the struggle
00:37 for just society.
00:43 During the gathering, we had a very important message from our leader, Don Pedro, that reinforced
00:48 that today, in this moment of civilizatory crisis, a crisis of capitalism, the way out
00:54 is the unity of the struggle of the peoples, that is internationalism.
00:58 We reviewed a lot of Fidel's ideas, we remembered when Chavez visited our settlements, and with
01:03 these experiences we can confirm that the way out for the liberation of the people of
01:09 our continent and of the world is really the internationalist action.
01:13 It is the unity of the peoples in the struggle at the international level.
01:20 In the framework of the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Landless Workers Movement,
01:25 Liz Cuesta-Perasa, Director of Events of the Ministry of Culture of Cuba, points out that
01:30 the Cuban revolution and the MST social movement have many points of contact.
01:38 This is, in my opinion, the most consolidated and strongest social and popular movement
01:43 that we have in the continent.
01:45 And it is a movement that has always been on the side of its own people and its cause,
01:49 of the poor, without losing its compass in its struggle.
01:53 And I believe that the struggle for the earth, which is the struggle for food, which today
01:57 is also the struggle for the climate, for Mother Nature, and it is the struggle for
02:02 life, there is nothing more revolutionary and more similar to our causes than this.
02:08 I believe that the Landless Movement and the Cuban revolution have so many points of contact
02:14 that we can say that they are twin movements.
02:17 Cuban President Díaz-Canel also took the opportunity to congratulate the Landless Workers
02:22 Movement on its way to its 40th anniversary.
02:25 Through his social network, ex-Díaz-Canel, sent a fraternal hug to the comrades of the
02:32 Landless Movement MST, adding that they had begun the celebration at the Martin Luther
02:37 King Center for 40 years of solidarity actions and shared their struggles between the movement
02:43 and the Cuban people.
02:44 And I believe that the struggle for the earth, which is the struggle for food, without losing its compass in its struggle for life, without losing its compass in its struggle for life, is the struggle for life.
