00:00 Eric Armstead's out.
00:01 And they've been really like vague
00:03 about his injury status.
00:05 But Kyle Shanahan was asked about it today.
00:07 Nick Wagner asked.
00:08 And Kyle Shanahan revealed
00:11 that it's really more
00:12 the foot than the knee.
00:14 And it's basically the same foot injury
00:17 that affected Eric Armstead last year,
00:19 which means it's plantar fasciitis,
00:22 which is painful and debilitating.
00:25 And he played through it at times last year,
00:28 but frankly, not that well.
00:30 He missed a bunch of games,
00:32 came back, played the Final Six
00:34 regular season games,
00:35 didn't do much,
00:36 and then was really good in the playoffs.
00:37 So it's possible
00:39 he may not play again
00:42 in the regular season this year.
00:43 And when he does return,
00:44 he won't be the dominant player
00:45 he was just a few weeks ago.
00:47 How do you read this, Eric Armstead news, coach?
00:50 They it's this injury occurred
00:56 prior to the Eagles game, right?
00:58 And they just gutted it out.
01:01 And he got it right.
01:02 So I, I would think that
01:05 he probably could gut it out
01:08 for the playoffs, right?
01:10 Like, probably the plan is
01:13 they beat the Eagles,
01:14 have a little leeway, right?
01:15 Because because the Eagles were losing.
01:17 So I think they probably that
01:22 they probably would do the same thing.
01:24 Right. Just let it try to rest him.
01:27 And get him as much rest
01:30 as they possibly can before the playoffs
01:32 and then gut it out.
01:33 Right. I mean, because I think
01:35 they probably I'm assuming, Grant,
01:37 what they'll probably do is based on
01:39 how this game goes
01:41 and the rest of the NFC goes like
01:42 they could possibly get a bye week
01:46 without getting without
01:48 the best of getting to buy weeks.
01:49 Right. Because if that Rams game
01:52 at the end of the year means nothing, then.
01:54 They they will matter, right?
01:57 They can rest.
01:57 They can rest the rest of their starters,
01:58 including including Armstead.
02:00 Right. And then maybe that could help them.
02:02 Maybe it could help him long term
02:04 into the playoffs and, you know,
02:07 rest that plantar fasciitis.
02:09 So, Leon, so, yeah,
02:12 Eric Armstead should come back
02:14 at some point this season.
02:15 Don't know what condition he'll be
02:17 in when he does come back.
02:18 But for this game, he's out.
02:20 I think that's significant
02:21 in this matchup with the Ravens,
02:23 because the Ravens essentially have
02:25 the best rushing attack in the league.
02:27 And it's not because
02:29 of their running backs.
02:30 It's because of their offensive line
02:32 and their quarterback,
02:33 their 11 on 11 style football
02:35 and their dominant offensive line.
02:36 Cardinals won the line of scrimmage
02:40 against the Niners last week
02:41 with Armstead out.
02:42 If the Ravens win the line of scrimmage
02:45 and their defense keeps the game close,
02:47 those runs could get pretty
02:49 explosive in the second half.
02:51 But but Javon Hargrave is going to play.
02:54 He's an excellent player,
02:55 more of a pass rusher
02:56 than a run defender,
02:56 but still an excellent player.
02:57 Better than T.Y. McGill.
02:58 Armstead is definitely the out of
03:01 out of their interior.
03:02 He's by far he's excellent.
03:04 I guess the run.
03:06 Yeah, I thought this would actually
03:09 like move the line, but it it did.
03:12 The other direction
03:13 that I was expecting
03:13 we're going to look at the line a little bit.
03:15 I don't understand that.
03:17 I think this is such a huge deal.
03:19 I think Eric Armstead,
03:20 I mean, frankly, the Niners
03:21 statistically aren't great against
03:23 the run with Armstead
03:25 as a team this year
03:26 without him against this offense.
03:29 I think that's almost.
03:30 I think that's the defining
03:32 matchup of the game.
03:32 You know, Grant,
03:35 I think I would be more concerned about it
03:37 in the past where they didn't have
03:40 they didn't have an offense
03:42 to hold up their defense
03:44 where they're just like,
03:45 but, you know,
03:47 if I feel like they could win
03:49 and they could win
03:50 if this turned out to shoot out,
03:52 I'm not saying it would.
03:54 I'm not saying the Niners
03:56 would automatically win it,
03:57 but I think I'd feel comfortable
03:58 with them, right?
04:00 I mean.
04:01 You wouldn't necessarily say that
04:05 with the Niners in the past,
04:06 you know, even sometimes
04:09 going back to the Harbaugh,
04:10 the Harbaugh era, right?
04:11 Like it was a shootout.
04:12 You'd be like, yeah.
04:15 True.
04:16 True.
04:17 True.
04:17 (upbeat music)
04:20 (upbeat music)
