Previewing Detroit Lions Week 17 NFL matchup against Dallas Cowboys.
Transcript
00:00 This Saturday night the Detroit Lions prepare to face off against the Dallas Cowboys in primetime.
00:05 Here today to break that game down and give his analysis is SIL Lions John Macron.
00:10 John, who do you got in this one and why?
00:13 Yeah, Cameron, another prove-it game for the Detroit Lions. Coming off the heels of winning the division,
00:19 Dan Campbell expressed that the Lions biggest foe this week is really complacency and satisfaction.
00:25 It's going to be interesting to see how the Lions play and perform this week.
00:29 I don't expect there to be a hangover after a significant feat.
00:32 I think that the Lions definitely are aware that there's a new goal for the team and the organization
00:38 and that's potentially to earn the number one seed in the NFC.
00:42 So I don't think the Lions are going to lack effort, lack passion in this contest.
00:49 You know that if you don't bring your A game against the Dallas Cowboys who are 7-0 at home,
00:55 the game can get out of hand pretty quickly and in a primetime game, a matchup with two teams that are playoff bound,
01:02 the Lions definitely want to prove and kind of establish where they're at as they march into the postseason.
01:08 This game is going to be tough, Cam. This game probably is going to come down to the wire.
01:12 The Lions have to be firing on all cylinders.
01:15 I think most people assume the Lions are going to need to run the ball effectively.
01:20 The Dallas Cowboys run defense is not as stout as other facets of their game.
01:25 And you recognize with Jameer Gibbs and David Montgomery playing at a high level, a healthy offensive line.
01:32 The Lions have not lost, Cam, this year when the offensive line has been complete and totally healthy.
01:38 So you look at the optimal situation for the Lions and that's to really run the ball,
01:44 establish the play action with Jared Goff, utilize all the weapons, limit the mistakes,
01:49 last week against the Vikings, an increase in delay of game penalties and some mistakes.
01:54 You recognize that this game probably is going to be high scoring.
01:58 You're going to need to cap off drives with touchdowns and not settle for field goals.
02:02 And you look at it, now the big question mark is,
02:05 can the Lions defense limit what Dak Prescott and that vaunted offense can do at AT&T Stadium?
02:12 I mean, Cam, you look at it and you see just how well the Cowboys do play at home.
02:18 You recognize they can light up the scoreboard.
02:20 Dak Prescott is effective at extending drives.
02:23 He's seeing the field quite nicely, 30 touchdown passes.
02:26 CeeDee Lamb is a player that can be explosive and can really make plays for that Cowboys offense.
02:33 So you really recognize that the Cowboys have a lot of great playmakers.
02:37 You see Michael Parsons on that defense. He can cause havoc for Jared Goff.
02:41 I expect the Lions to play their A game and they're going to need to.
02:44 If they have mistakes, if they don't force turnovers, if they get behind early, it's going to be a long night.
02:51 But this game has a feel of a heavyweight matchup, Cam, and it's in prime time.
02:56 The whole country will get to see it.
02:58 I am truly in the belief that the team that has the football last will win this football game.
03:03 And for the Lions, you hope it's them because an opportunity to secure their 12th victory would mean a lot for this franchise.
