00:00 Tommy thought he killed Jason till NECA brought him back.
00:04 Here's your look at the NECA Toys Friday the 13th, the final chapter, Ultimate Jason Voorhees 2021 reissue.
00:10 After his revival in a hospital morgue, the hockey mass murderer fixes his vengeful attention
00:36 on the Jarvis family and a group of carefree teenagers. Young Tommy Jarvis is an aficionado
00:42 of horror films with a special talent for masks and makeup effects. Has the diabolical Jason finally
00:47 met his match? I think Jason has finally found somebody that likes masks more than him. Before
00:52 of course we get a closer look at the NECA Toys Friday the 13th part 4, the final chapter, Jason
00:56 Voorhees 2021 reissue. Let's grab the tape measure and see how tall the figure stands. I did in fact
01:01 find this one over on Entertainment Earth. It had popped up as an off the truck release. Thinking
01:06 that this was actually going to be a little bit later than 2021, I was a bit surprised to see it
01:10 was only released in 2021. So it's still a slightly older figure but it's still a little bit newer than
01:16 the one that I had from before which was 2020. I'll bring that figure in as well for comparison's sake.
01:20 Back to the measuring Jason, you're looking at the figure, yes, standing, standing, seven inches
01:25 in height or the figure is going to be about 18 centimeters tall. Now despite being only a year
01:30 apart, I'm going to slide over the 2021 release of Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th part 4. I'm
01:35 going to bring in the one that we got here from 2020. Again, only difference by a year but you can
01:40 see already there has been a few little finessed touches added to the newer one that wasn't
01:45 necessarily the case with the original one. I wasn't really a big fan of that reissue Jason
01:49 Voorhees from 2020. Some of the criticisms though certainly that you guys expressed was the fact that
01:54 little weared off areas on the front of his nose for example was a little bit too stark.
01:58 You can see again they've rounded and smoothed that off a little bit more. It's not,
02:02 it's certainly a lot more subtle on the 2021 release and the colors also of his mask are a
02:06 little bit more darker color. Some may find that to be a turnoff. I actually kind of like the darker
02:11 color scheme a little bit more than the brighter one we got here from the 2020 release. Because
02:16 this is also a reissue, it means that Neckazee is simply using the same box as the one that we got
02:20 before the Friday the 13th final chapter with of course the very iconic poster art of Jason's mask
02:25 with the knife wedged inside the eye socket. It just happens to be shared with the same one that
02:29 we got before. My original box from 2020 actually have a couple of other Jason Voorhees. I didn't
02:33 want to bring in every single one I have from Friday the 13th part four but my box unfortunately
02:37 has a few little like scratches and stuff on it. As I always try to do though, I did want to show
02:42 you guys the barcode differences between the two. Down below here you see 50620. That's the lot
02:47 number. The last two digits always tell you the year in which these were produced by the factory.
02:51 This one here again is only by a year. It's 2021. That's always something you guys can certainly
02:56 look at when you're looking to pick up these figures for yourself. On top of showing you guys
02:59 the differences between the lot numbers, I'm also going to show you the differences between the
03:03 accessories that come included with this release and the one that was a year before. First let's
03:06 have a look at the tombstone. The tombstone really honestly nothing changes at all. It still has
03:10 Pamela Voorhees from 1930 to 1979 at rest and this has nicely been raised on the surface so it's not
03:17 simply just painted in place. Bringing in the original one that we got from 2020, I will say
03:22 one thing I do think that the 2020 did better was the coloring of the tombstone. It looks a little
03:26 bit more defined. It looks a little bit more sharper. This one also has, I don't know if this
03:30 is missing paint down below or if they just tried to make it a little bit more roughed up, but I do
03:34 think like the original tombstone looks a little bit nicer. I mean it's a very very close. I mean
03:39 there's nothing if you were to say look at the two and you said okay this is the one that we got from
03:44 2020 and you just happen to give me the exact same one. I looked at it again. I really wouldn't be
03:48 able to say well there's really enough of a difference but if to really nickel and dime
03:52 every single thing that's on it there's also again like a little bit more of a lighter area around
03:56 the outside cutout section. This one again looks a little bit better. I'm going to spin around to the
04:00 back so you guys can see the actual granite that they would have used. I can't imagine how Jason
04:05 Voorhees is paying for tombstones but the actual granite you can see is a little bit more textured.
04:10 It's got a lot more spots to it. The one that we get now is a little less sparse. It doesn't have
04:15 as many spots on the back of it. Now you actually may prefer this look but I actually like the one
04:19 that's got a little bit more texturing. It looks certainly a little bit more like concrete so there
04:24 is really enough differences. I guess really looking at from the front there's not as many
04:27 differences but when you look at them certainly from the back this one definitely looks a lot
04:31 better. Move those to the side. The figure also as well comes included with still all the same weapons.
04:36 Comes included with the axe so the axe does have some nice painted top. The actual head of the axe
04:40 I should say is done nicely here in a gunmetal silver. I'm going to bring in the original axe
04:44 so you guys can see. One thing you can probably notice right away is there's some paint that's
04:48 been bled onto the actual handle so it's a little bit on the messier side. The actual handle itself
04:53 is a little bit also darker. The first one that we looked at might feel the same way as the tombstone.
04:59 I do think like the wood grain looks a little bit better on the 2020 release. It doesn't look
05:03 as detailed necessarily on the 2021 reissue. The differences between the two axes. I'm going to do
05:09 my also best to make sure that I'm not mixing these up. I want to make sure yeah okay that's
05:13 the one that for 2021 that's the one for 2020. On to now the corkscrew. Has anybody found the
05:18 corkscrew? Oh yeah he found it. Jason found it at least for him. The corkscrew I want to bring back
05:24 in the original one. This is really starting to show you where the differences are. The original
05:28 corkscrew this is the one from 2020 definitely has a much shinier black finish. The silver also
05:33 seems to be a little bit more richer and they really have dulled down the original one or the
05:38 one that we're getting in this in this release. You could say that maybe it's more screen accurate
05:43 but I do think that the shinier black looks a lot nicer and the part that actually was embedded into
05:48 his hand I think looks certainly a lot better on the 2020 release and doesn't look maybe as much
05:54 as blood. It kind of looks almost just like it was been painted in paint like just red paint like
05:58 they stuck it and tried to paint with a natural corkscrew. This looks I feel more like a darker
06:03 red what blood would normally be if of course it's somebody being impaled by a corkscrew.
06:07 This one just doesn't look as much like that so I think again like the corkscrews the one that we
06:12 got from a year before this release looks definitely considerably better than the one we get for this
06:17 release. On to now the cleaver. One thing I will say though about the cleaver is I think it's nicely
06:22 better it's better handled so to speak with this version than on the original one. I'm going to
06:28 bring in the original one and there's a lot of differences really made between first of all the
06:31 handles. The 2021 has a much darker handle than the lighter handle for the 2020 release and you
06:36 can also see as well the way it's been smeared. I guess maybe this one is a little bit too exact
06:42 so it kind of looks like Jason's been just sort of hacking away at a limb. This one actually does
06:47 look like it's been swung and the blood's basically splattered across the blade. The blood is nicely
06:52 darker here on this one so I kind of feel tied in the sense that I like the coloring of the blood
06:57 on this one better but I like the way it's been spread across the blade on the one that's a year
07:01 before. It doesn't look like the actual cleavers are any little bit different other than just the
07:06 way that they painted but again like maybe I like this one maybe a little bit more just because
07:10 again like the blood looks a little bit better. It looks more natural like Jason's swinging at it
07:15 as opposed to just simply slicing up somebody's arm. You want mustard with that? Different franchise.
07:20 Let's move those to the side as well. The figure also comes included with the hacksaw. I believe
07:25 it kills Axel with this one. Bring in the original one again so you can see the difference between
07:30 the two. I know literally most of this review is just going to be a comparison of one to the other
07:33 but I did also want to do my best to kind of show you the differences between the two. It's not
07:37 really a lot when it comes to the hacksaws. There's certainly more blood in the middle. This one here
07:42 is spread more across. This is the newer one. This is the older one. Not really much different
07:47 between the two. By the way all of these accessories can be held in Jason's hand. He
07:51 actually has two different hands. I've already swapped out one of the hands, popped it off the
07:55 forearm and I swapped it out with the more closed quartered hands. Better for holding the knife,
07:59 better for holding machete. The bigger hand is definitely better for holding say the hacksaw.
08:03 Speaking of the smaller things that he can hold, the figure also comes included with a small knife.
08:08 Again just to grab the one off to the side. The original one definitely has a lot more blood
08:13 across the blade. This one actually looks like he's just dipped his toe in the water. I don't
08:17 know why it's just here but I guess if you were to say think of it from the perspective of Jason
08:21 killing somebody, he's bludgeoning somebody basically into the chest that maybe only just
08:26 the blood is ending up here. There's a few little blood splatters that made their way across the
08:30 blade. This one looks like he's lunged it and stuck it really deep into somebody's body.
08:35 Personal preference really than anything else, you might prefer to have more blood across the
08:39 actual blade of the knife. I kind of like just a little toe that's tapping inside the cold water.
08:45 Just kind of like a little bit on the end of it myself. The last of the accessories before we
08:49 jump on over to the figure's alternate head sculpts is the machetes. Machetes again looking
08:54 at the two the handles are going to be both in brown. They're little riveted points of course
08:57 also handled nicely in silver. This is the one if I want to make sure I've got these I don't have
09:02 these mixed up I think this is the one that we get here from the 2021. This is the one that we
09:06 get here from the 2020 release. The only thing that's really different is this one kind of looks
09:10 like it's more consistent red that's brushed across it. This one actually has sort of broken
09:15 up areas where it looks like it's smeared its way as Jason pulls this out of somebody's torso.
09:21 This one I guess is a little bit more realistic. This one basically covers the entire territory of
09:25 covering everything in red. So again it's personal preference. I guess this one is a little bit nicer
09:30 just because again it looks like Jason's just really gone to work with it. And then last the
09:35 thing the figure comes also included with is his interchangeable hands. This to be honestly fair is
09:40 the one that came included with the box and with the figure initially but I did pop this one off
09:44 the peg and I swapped it out with this one because this one actually is better for holding say the
09:48 knife. It isn't good though for oh I'll make sure I got it facing the right way this isn't the one
09:52 that's good for holding say the hacksaw just because again like the hands the fingers themselves
09:56 are really close to that really gnarly looking thumb. It's really hard to fit the hacksaw into
10:00 there so I actually swapped it out with this hand you probably can't see right now this hand that
10:05 has the bigger grip just because that's better for holding. I guess you could also use this one for
10:08 as well for holding the machete but the machete is just going to sit as you can see a little looser
10:13 so you want to maybe depending on really how you want to use what weapons you want to have them
10:16 wielding bigger hand for the hacksaw smaller hand for things like the machete and the knife.
10:21 The last of course the figure comes included with is the interchangeable head sculpt. I'm not going
10:26 to spend a whole lot of time talking about this just yet because we're going to be coming back
10:30 to this in a more more in a moment but that's the alternate head sculpt. It's also going to have
10:34 Jason with the machete mark down the side of his face. We're going to talk more about this
10:37 yes in a moment. First though let's pick up Jason Voorhees. I would feel like I'd be missing
10:44 something in this review if obviously I didn't bring back in the 2020 release so you guys can
10:47 see the differences between the two. Now again this is only just by my expressed opinions. Your
10:53 opinions may very well differ from the one I'm about about to say here. This was the one that
10:57 was from the 2020 release. This is the newer one we get from the 2020 release or 2021 release.
11:02 The masks are identical although they've been cast in different plastics. This is a much lighter
11:07 plastic and again the biggest issue that a lot of people had with a 2020 release was the fact
11:12 it had a very obvious wear mark on the front of his nose. A little bit too dark, a little bit too
11:17 stark, certainly had a lot more gray than maybe it had in the movie. This one does bring still the
11:22 gray but you can see they've worn more of it on the top of the bridge of his nose and it's a lot
11:26 more subtle. It doesn't have like a very obvious like this is the section that Jason's nose is
11:31 gray. It almost even had as you can see like an outlined area around the gray. It was a little
11:35 bit too much. This one again pulls it back just a little bit, gives a more subtler approach to it
11:40 but still has the weared areas of the mask. Even like the chevrons. The chevrons were very more
11:45 marked on the sides of his mask for example. You could still make out the outlines of the triangles.
11:50 This one's a little harder to kind of make out those chevrons. They're more faded on both sides
11:54 and probably maybe a little more accurate to the way they were in the movie. The masks attach
11:58 obviously the exact same way. Just before we actually unmask Jason, the bodies are also the
12:03 same shared between the two. I couldn't help but also notice that if you look at the sides of the
12:07 figure's body, a lot of this may also be chalked up to the fact that the years of having this
12:12 figure and all the times I've kind of been moving his torso around, he does seem at least to come
12:16 across to me like he's a little pudgier. This one was a little bit more fitted to his body.
12:21 I couldn't also help but notice if you look at the plastic here for the 2020 release, it's a lot
12:26 spongier. Now again, that could just be years of just moving this figure around. I find like
12:31 the plastic that they've used for the new 2020 run 2021 release seems like the plastic still being
12:37 soft isn't as pudgy or isn't as squishy as the original one and that might also be the reasoning
12:42 why the figure comes across a little bit more lean than the original one. Something also I did
12:47 notice though with these Jasons is that the texturing of the plastic for his arms for example
12:51 feels a little more not tacky but it certainly has a more coarseness to the actual surface of
12:56 the plastic whereas this plastic was a little smoother. Again from only observations I'm making
13:01 here, the red that they've also added is a little harder to make out here but he's got a little of
13:06 a red tint to the front of his shirt. Can you kind of see it right there? You see it more really on
13:10 the wrinkles. He didn't have it as much here for the original one so the the shirts themselves also
13:15 come across like this one's a little bit lighter too. The pants are very similar with one another
13:20 although these stains this is one thing I think that the newer one does better. The stains certainly
13:24 look like something that's bled onto the fabric. I mean blood stains are impossible to remove. I've
13:29 heard from friends this one actually did have still the red marks but there was sort of a
13:34 splotchiness. See those little kind of dots across the surface of the plastic? This one actually does
13:39 look more like a bleeded through stain than this one right here. Shoes are going to be exactly the
13:43 same also as well. Flip it around to the back so you guys can see. Yeah the shirts are definitely
13:48 a different color. This one again looks I said like this one looks a little lighter but I mean
13:53 even looking at the back of it the shirt from 2020 looks a lot considerably lighter than the one we
13:58 get from 2021. Head sculpt wise again he's going to have still the hockey mask on the front of his
14:03 face. All these hockey masks by the way are removable whether it's this one whether it's the
14:06 battle damage version they can easily remove. I say easily remove you still want to make sure that
14:11 the strap is not ripped in the process so you may want to kind of wiggle it from the back wiggle it
14:16 from the front wiggle it from the back you get the idea rinse and repeat and then eventually you can
14:20 just take the mask off. I don't want to break the straps that's how it happened to a couple of
14:24 jasons in the past. Here's what the defaulted head sculpt looks like still the same head sculpt as
14:30 from before although right now I'm sure you're only just taking my word for it. Let's go ahead
14:34 take the mask off the other one which is a lot easier to remove just because the number of times
14:38 I've done this again just still be careful remove that off completely and you will see in a second
14:45 in a second you'll see there's a difference between the two heads. One thing right away is that the
14:49 teeth on the original one by a year is a lot brighter. I kind of like the more darker coloring
14:55 of his teeth as you can see on this release and also there's not as much shine see at the top
14:59 where his wound would be there's a lot shinier of a surface he doesn't have as much of it here
15:04 again the colors seem though a little harder to kind of make out the differences between the two
15:08 they seem a more subtler approach with this release everything again a little bit more finessed a
15:13 little bit more finessed now there's this obviously there is this head sculpt there is also the
15:18 alternate heads we're going to go ahead pop this head off carefully these by the way are all now
15:23 using post systems I'm glad that are actually going this direction instead of using ball joints
15:26 ball joints were always a hard thing to remove figures heads from we're going to pop the new
15:29 head back in place and again we're just going to wiggle it on until finally there we go gets in
15:34 place like the masks from from the standpoint of the way that they're painted you can see there's
15:39 a lot more red on this one and it has sort of more of a half chevron half red half gray the
15:45 chevrons are the red on the sides are a little bit more apparent then of course the worn away areas
15:49 there of the the red or the gray chevrons in a way I kind of feel like I should be the other way
15:54 around like this would be the mask obviously this that this still has pretty fresh of a wound there
15:58 on the top I feel like this mask should have been with the defaulted head and this is the mask that
16:03 he has later into the movie when the chevrons are more worn away removing the mask let's go ahead
16:09 and do that right now again you'll probably see differences between the two heads I'm going to
16:12 grab the I haven't yet put this one back on the original 2021 body or 2020 body so show you guys
16:18 the differences between the two there's a lot more red here where the entryway is for the machete
16:24 the machete is going to basically lodge on the side of his face here there's more red as you can
16:27 see for the actual eye area than on this one this one kind of kept the colors more that flesh tone
16:32 that he had for the rest of his face the teeth are very similar with one another but the colors
16:36 on this one a little bit more of a reddish tint than the more lighter kind of more of a lighter
16:40 brown on this side very subtle differences but again I like the more I love the swelling of the
16:46 red that he has more on this side and of course with this one you can take yourself the machete
16:51 and just take the machete and lodge it right in there oh that looks painful and Jason can
16:55 slide down on the floor when he finally hits the floor gruesome I never really display honestly
17:01 any of my Jason's with war wounds like this now that I really have a 2020 and now at 2021 I can
17:06 really go the route of actually now having one displayed with the machete lodged in his face
17:11 and have the other one just with his hockey mask on let's remove that for right now I'm Jason I'm
17:15 sure doesn't appreciate the fact he has a big machete stuck in his face and we'll put the mask
17:19 back in place now for the figure's articulation it's going to be exactly the same as the other
17:24 Jason so I know pretty much we're going to be covering off territory that you guys have already
17:27 seen this channel countless times so he's going to have a ball post the ball post does allow the
17:32 head to rotate back and forth looks up looks down and you can rock it back and forth as well his
17:37 upper body while still seeming to have a harder plastic still allows the torso to rotate all the
17:43 way around it can look down it can look up and of course you can rock it back and forth as well
17:46 the one thing I did notice though about this figure is that all the joints were really tight
17:50 specifically the shoulders and specifically the elbows the arms kind of I would say 90 degrees
17:54 are about 45 degrees I would say those arms also as well rotate but they're very tight to the point
18:00 almost where I feel like I don't want to rotate them all the way around in practice and purpose
18:04 they do also rotate but I'm hitting a bit of a block here some sort of a block that's telling
18:09 me I can't push it any further I probably shouldn't have done that but does rotate all the way around
18:16 figures elbows were also really tight on my figure bend only about that far of course you can rotate
18:21 the forearm back and forth and you can rotate the hands all the way around Jason has still the
18:25 possessed leg articulation is the same one before so of course you can see there's the hinge joints
18:29 on the insides of his thighs you can bring the legs forward you can bring the legs back a swivel
18:34 at the top of the thigh single hinge only on the knee allows the lower leg to at least rotate back
18:39 and forth and when it comes to his ankle articulation that can move up and down this way and
18:42 rock back and forth this way as well some I know some of you guys have commented in comments below
18:48 when we've looked at these reissues in the past that you know it I'm happy this is the comments I
18:52 kind of get the I'm happy with the one that I have right now I can't see there being enough
18:57 reason to probably switch now to get something new I get that I mean certainly when you're
19:01 comparing only by a year apart it's it would be a lot easier for example if I had like a 2020
19:07 like 2016 or like a 2014 Jason Voorhees or whenever the first Friday 13th part 4 figure
19:12 came out from NECA toys it would be very so easy just to say this is the original one this is the
19:17 one that we got from 2021 see the difference and there might be a more of a nudge in the direction
19:22 of getting the newer ones just because again the paint has improved with even still though a year
19:26 apart this was 2020 this was 2021 you can see though how things were more subtly done here
19:33 when it came to the paint applications again the problems that a lot of people had with the more
19:37 outlined area of the bridge of his nose where again like that gray was fine to be on the front
19:41 of his nose but maybe it was a little bit too stark maybe it didn't necessarily need the outline
19:45 around it they have certainly pulled back the reins when it came to painting this figure that
19:49 the newer one has a better approach when it comes to the paint the colors a little bit more subtle
19:53 the stains are certainly sharper when it comes to his legs and maybe while it's a pick and choose
19:57 as to which accessory was better there were a few examples like the cleaver for example it was better
20:01 on the 2020 release some of them were a little bit better on the 2021 but really at the end of
20:06 the day I feel there's still enough of a difference that's been changed that if you weren't necessarily
20:10 loving the look of this one just by the little weird areas on his mask I do think though that
20:15 2021 does things just a tad bit better I'm sure many of you know my sick fascination when it comes
20:21 to NECA reissue horror figures every time a new one pops up on Entertainment Earth I'm always
20:25 tempted to get myself a newer one and always why I say Entertainment Earth because unlike other
20:30 companies that say things are in stock with Entertainment Earth for example it says hot
20:34 off the truck so I know right away they're stocking something new it's not just old stock you guys
20:39 have asked me in the past like how do you know when you're going to be getting a reissue you
20:43 don't always know to be honest but getting things hot off the truck for example on Entertainment
20:47 Earth is probably the closest way short of actually going and finding one in the wild
20:51 my local comic book stores tend to have old stock that's usually why I don't intend to go back and
20:56 look at them every once in a while if say they've been out of stock on something like a Friday 13th
21:00 Jason Voorhees and then they just happen to have new ones available I'll go back and look at them
21:04 then but a lot of times for me it's just old stock so that's usually why I order them online the way
21:08 that I do not always is the case though that reissues improve a figure and it could have been
21:13 easily a case with only just being a year apart this one could have looked exactly like the other
21:18 one and it's pretty close there are a few little things that if you could look at them you would
21:22 say I don't know there's just not enough changes for me to be nudged in the direction once again of
21:27 wanting to get this one if I already have the 2021 or 2020 release but I still feel in my heart and
21:32 I could just also be justifying the fact I did decide once again I got another Jason Voorhees
21:36 but did I really need to get another one but honestly though like looking at the masks I like
21:40 more the subtler approach I did say that probably a couple of times in this review the way that this
21:45 one kind of pulls the reins back on paint it didn't have to be as extreme as it was in 2020 that 2020
21:51 reissue Jason Voorhees from Friday 13th par 4 I still love the look of that figure and for a while
21:55 that was my go-to Jason Voorhees it might though have now been replaced with the one that we get
22:00 from 2021 it still has the gray on the end of its nose but it's done in a more subtler way than what
22:06 we got with the 2020 release let me know down below in the comments section are you also one
22:10 that likes to go and buy reissues of figures in the hopes and dreams that we are going to be
22:14 getting ourselves brand new figures it's not always obviously going to be the case of the
22:17 Halloween 2018 Michael Myers because of course remember that one had a completely retooled head
22:21 that was a gem that no one was really expecting these kinds of things like this are kind of more
22:26 cosmetic changes it's just a case of looking at Jason Voorhees and saying okay well mask is a
22:31 little bit better on this one the accessories are a little bit better than this one if you have more
22:35 than one you can always then mix and match and pick out and kind of really customize to get the
22:39 perfect looking Jason on your shelf as I already mentioned though I did get this one at Entertainment
22:43 Earth as far as I know it's still in stock but always I would always say you guys check periodically
22:48 on their site for reissues and the best way to always know the reissues if it says hot off the
22:53 truck so like we're into December if it said hot off the truck for December you'd know right away
22:58 it's a restocked item and there's a good likelihood they're stocking with new lot numbers it's not
23:02 always the case but usually more times than not usually going to be reissues I wasn't really
23:07 expecting three years ago though this was going to be a 2021 I hoped if anything it was going to
23:11 be a 2022 or 2023 but I'm still happy that I did pick this one up if again you guys are interested
