00:00:00 Hey guys, I just wanted to take a second to ask that if you gain any valuable insight
00:00:04 from this episode that you please share and leave a review.
00:00:07 We truly appreciate all the support and would love your help to spread the word.
00:00:12 Enjoy the episode.
00:00:13 I was making pretty good money but deep down I just knew that's not what I was supposed
00:00:19 to be doing or that's not where I was supposed to be.
00:00:22 I grew up wanting to be an NFL quarterback for 20 years, like from 5 to 25 I wanted to
00:00:28 like be the, well, God's plan wasn't for me to be the quarterback, it was to help the
00:00:34 quarterback be successful.
00:00:43 What can we do to get you to the next level?
00:00:45 I don't care if it's an entrepreneur, like what can we do mentally to put you in a position
00:00:50 to say I can do this, I'm going to do it.
00:00:53 I've always been a believer in exercise and fitness and that but when it comes to the
00:00:57 entrepreneurism and really trying to impact a lot of people, I know how important that
00:01:04 exercise, fitness and nutrition plays.
00:01:07 If you're an athlete, we're going to do everything we can to dial in your movements and your
00:01:11 mindset.
00:01:12 Welcome to the show, Todd.
00:01:15 Jeff, thank you.
00:01:16 It's great to be here.
00:01:17 Dude, it's so awesome to finally have you here.
00:01:20 I feel like our circles have been cross-intersecting for so many years.
00:01:24 I mean, we were just talking off air but I grew up in Scripps Ranch and that's where
00:01:28 Fitness Quest 10 opened and not only did you steal my 7-Eleven, what do you say?
00:01:32 Slurpees to burpees.
00:01:33 Slurpees to burpees.
00:01:34 But you also have trained a lot of my friends and we know so many of the same people.
00:01:38 Now your daughter goes to Scripps Ranch High School, go Falcons.
00:01:41 Yep, yep, yep.
00:01:42 It's just such a great honor to have you here.
00:01:44 It's great to be here at the home office, the HQ, and obviously I've been a fan of Everbol
00:01:49 for a long time and then in learning more about you and who you're hanging with, a lot
00:01:55 of similarities and commonalities around San Diego and that.
00:01:59 So it's great to hear your background also.
00:02:01 Well, thank you.
00:02:02 Thank you.
00:02:03 And your message and the fact that I believe success in life is a 360-degree element.
00:02:10 If you're not healthy, if you're not financially stable, if you don't have good relationships,
00:02:13 if you don't have good personal connection with whatever faith or belief system you have,
00:02:18 you're not really successful, you're just too focused on one area.
00:02:21 And just hearing how you bring not only the fitness training, which you've done so well
00:02:25 for so long, but the mindset to it, the belief system, the foundation, and all the areas
00:02:30 that we're going to get into that is coming in 2024, it's no coincidence the level of
00:02:35 success that you've created for yourself and through your clients over the years.
00:02:38 And again, knowing Drew Brees, LaDaini Thomas, like some of the biggest, baddest athletes
00:02:43 in the world.
00:02:44 What was it for you, young, once you had to stop playing football that made you realize
00:02:48 my impact is going to be through how I help all of these high achievers?
00:02:55 It's a good question, Jeff.
00:02:57 Honestly, when I think about that, it goes back to even when I was younger, when I was
00:03:01 a kid.
00:03:02 I'm the youngest of eight kids.
00:03:03 Eight?
00:03:04 Eight kids.
00:03:05 Five sisters.
00:03:06 Yeah, five.
00:03:07 Five sisters and two brothers.
00:03:08 But when I was five, my mom and dad got divorced, and I grew up back in New Jersey, and it rocked
00:03:13 me, but at the same time, when you're five to 10, very formative years, I just was a
00:03:18 little tough kid that was fighting to go out and play sports and hopefully someday be successful.
00:03:25 But I had some good mentors when I was younger in football, and I think that was a really
00:03:32 important aspect of playing sports at a young age, of giving me something internally and
00:03:37 intrinsically that allowed me to ultimately make some key decisions when I was in my 20s.
00:03:44 So it really was then, because having a Coach Wolf, a legendary football coach in Brick,
00:03:48 New Jersey, and then having my father come back into my life when I was just about 10
00:03:54 years old, those were some really, really pivotal times so that when I eventually went
00:03:59 to college when I was 18, I went down to school in Virginia, a place called William & Mary.
00:04:06 That was kind of the first time away from home, mom and dad, all my seven brothers and
00:04:11 sisters that it was like a wake-up call.
00:04:14 And when you ask what allowed you to do that, I think growing up the way I grew up, not
00:04:21 having much, I appreciated pretty much anything if I had food on the table, and my mom worked
00:04:27 her tail off, like really worked her tail off.
00:04:35 I say that because I just saw my mom two days ago.
00:04:36 She's 90.
00:04:37 She's still living.
00:04:38 And it's cool because moms are special.
00:04:42 My dad died when I was 20, and that was the first kind of major adversity I had.
00:04:49 Like man, pops, that was my guy.
00:04:53 And when you think about, and when listening in, when you think about who's the one person
00:04:57 you don't want taken from you, at that point in my life it was my dad.
00:05:00 He was my biggest cheerleader, my biggest fan, my mentor.
00:05:03 He gave me a lot of guidance and wisdom.
00:05:04 Next thing you know, I'm 20, I'm battling for a starting football quarterback job, and
00:05:09 that all of a sudden life turns upside down.
00:05:12 - Unexpectedly?
00:05:13 - Oh yeah, heart attack.
00:05:15 So it's that time, I'm like, man.
00:05:19 And my oldest son now is 20, and I'm like, man, that's how old I was when my dad passed.
00:05:26 So when it comes to health and fitness, I take it really serious because I know that
00:05:34 it's something that's not guaranteed.
00:05:37 - It's the ultimate neutralizer.
00:05:40 Money can't buy you health.
00:05:41 - 100%.
00:05:42 - Few jobs learn that.
00:05:43 I mean, no matter how much wealth you've created, you can't buy health.
00:05:47 - You can't do it.
00:05:49 And I've lived that.
00:05:50 I never grew up wanting to be a coach or a trainer or a gym owner or anything like that.
00:05:56 And then I fortuitously in my 20s, through a lot of different left turns and right turns
00:06:02 and everything else, ended up in the field of coaching and fitness and health.
00:06:10 And while I have a couple of different roles that I play, the last 20 years or so have
00:06:16 primarily been in the health and fitness and coaching space.
00:06:20 - And what was it that actually got you there?
00:06:22 What was that moment when you were like, you know what?
00:06:24 I never thought of this, but this is kind of what I'm leaning into.
00:06:29 - It really was an injury.
00:06:31 It really was because I was 25.
00:06:33 I just got done playing.
00:06:34 Well, I was playing professional football as a quarterback overseas.
00:06:38 I was in Europe and I suffered a serious back injury.
00:06:43 And when the doctor in France said, "Do you have a back problem?
00:06:47 Do you have three herniated discs and spinal stenosis and degenerative back disease?
00:06:52 Football career over."
00:06:53 I'd already had my degree in Kines and had some certifications, but my goal and dream
00:06:59 in life was I wanted to be an NFL quarterback.
00:07:02 That's what I wanted to do.
00:07:03 And I was 25 and I was loving life and I was like, "This is the circuitous route to it."
00:07:08 But that's what I was doing.
00:07:10 And when I got hurt over there, that was door slams closed.
00:07:18 And I went down a five-year journey of really healing my back pain and going and living
00:07:23 in 13 different cities over a few years to heal my back without having surgery.
00:07:28 And what I realized looking back, hindsight's 20/20 is all my 20s were about was learning.
00:07:34 I was learning from different gurus and healers and strength and conditioning coaches and
00:07:38 doctors and physiatrists and physical therapists and energy healers.
00:07:41 Because when you're in back pain, you'll do anything to get out of back pain.
00:07:45 And I did everything.
00:07:46 And I was fortunate that I didn't ever have surgery.
00:07:50 But I ultimately ended up on the West Coast, being from the East Coast.
00:07:53 I ended up in LA.
00:07:54 I was working for a guy named Michael King.
00:07:56 Michael King at the time, he produced Oprah Winfrey, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.
00:08:01 I'm training Michael and living in Malibu.
00:08:06 And I'm like, "Man, how did I get to Malibu, California?
00:08:09 I'm a Jersey guy and now football's done.
00:08:11 I'm training these Hollywood people."
00:08:14 And on the outside world, life was good.
00:08:16 My buddies were living...
00:08:17 They're working Wall Street, making big money.
00:08:19 And I'm like out in Hollywood as a trainer, right?
00:08:22 Like doing this stuff.
00:08:23 But I don't know if you've ever been there, Jeff, in your life.
00:08:26 I was making pretty good money.
00:08:28 But deep down, I just knew like that's not what I was supposed to be doing or that's
00:08:33 not where I was supposed to be.
00:08:34 And I left LA.
00:08:35 I moved to San Diego.
00:08:37 And I moved to San Diego because my car, my beat up old Volvo would have never made it
00:08:43 back East.
00:08:44 So I was like, "I'll go to grad school."
00:08:46 And on day one, I met my future wife in grad school.
00:08:49 And upon graduation from grad school, I was just 29 years old.
00:08:54 I had an opportunity to go back to LA to be a full-time strength and conditioning coach,
00:09:01 tenure track at a university college.
00:09:04 And I turned it down because of my girlfriend, future wife.
00:09:09 She got offered a job as a teacher at a college here in San Diego.
00:09:14 So I made that decision.
00:09:15 And for three, four months, I was pretty lonely.
00:09:17 Like, "Man, I could have a career job.
00:09:19 And I don't know what I'm going to do.
00:09:21 Let me open a gym."
00:09:22 Right?
00:09:23 So that was really the impetus of this winding road of, "Hey, let me try this gym thing.
00:09:27 And I'm going to open up a personal training studio where I can combine massage therapy,"
00:09:31 which was a big part of my healing, doing all this rolfing and structural integrations
00:09:35 and body therapy, along with all my training that I was doing.
00:09:39 It was year 2000.
00:09:40 That's when I opened my gym, year 2000, January 2000.
00:09:43 And I did.
00:09:44 I opened it with no clients, no money, no business plan.
00:09:46 "Hey, let me open a gym."
00:09:47 A little different today of doing that.
00:09:49 But that was the dream.
00:09:51 And I look back in my 20s.
00:09:53 It's like it was all about learning.
00:09:55 And yeah, I lost my dad at 20.
00:09:57 I got hurt at 25.
00:09:58 And all these different aspects happened.
00:10:01 But looking back, man, what some fond years they were that really were the impetus and
00:10:08 groundwork to allow me to do for the next 20-plus years of some of the work that I did
00:10:15 at Fitness Quest 10, my gym.
00:10:17 And yeah, that was the start of it all.
00:10:20 During your 20s, going through those big life events that were catastrophic, back, losing
00:10:26 your father, obviously you were probably in a lot of low places during those 10 years.
00:10:32 The thing I know about you today is how strong you are mentally.
00:10:36 How did you deal from the mindset side, why you were going through that decade?
00:10:40 Not going to the shame, blame, pity, victim, could have done all these things.
00:10:46 I'm sure there were moments, but how did you get out of it?
00:10:48 How did you stay mentally tough and build the foundation of who you are today and what
00:10:52 you teach today?
00:10:55 I think part of it was coming through sport.
00:10:58 I was always an athlete and having great coaches when I was younger, football, basketball,
00:11:03 baseball.
00:11:04 All of these things, I think, helped formulate that mindset of the best is yet to come, the
00:11:08 best is yet to come.
00:11:09 That being said, I certainly wasn't the most positive and optimistic person after my dad
00:11:13 died or that, but I always intrinsically felt, very humbly speaking, that there was something
00:11:22 special I needed to do and create.
00:11:25 And I've always been a man of faith.
00:11:27 I grew up Catholic, but then I went to school in the South and I just continue to hone in
00:11:33 on my faith and faith and faith.
00:11:36 In my 20s, my faith deepened after me questioning a lot, after my dad died and questioning,
00:11:43 "God, how can you take my father?"
00:11:46 A lot of going to one of the pastors who mentored me during that time, my faith deepened and
00:11:53 it deepened.
00:11:54 So I think one of it is just my faith became stronger and stronger in my 20s, and that
00:12:02 was a huge part of allowing me to navigate some of the toughest times.
00:12:05 Because listen, when you're going through tough times, whether you're a faith or not
00:12:09 a faith, it's still a hard time.
00:12:11 But it definitely kept me positive and it was the foundational groundwork that was important
00:12:19 to know that life's not over as long as the sun's coming up, man, I got a shot to keep
00:12:23 going.
00:12:24 And I felt like while I didn't know exactly what I was going to be doing yet, I needed
00:12:29 to keep going.
00:12:30 And one thing I'll say is, I don't know if any of your listeners ever do this, and I
00:12:33 don't know, Jeff, if you've gone through this, but in my 20s, on the outside world, it looked
00:12:37 great.
00:12:38 I'm playing pro football in my early 20s and I'm living in LA and Malibu, but on the outside
00:12:45 world, all my buddies were making big money on Wall Street.
00:12:47 And I'm like, "I'm making that much money in the beginning."
00:12:51 The outside world, it looks good, but until I got rolling, it could be a little bit of
00:12:57 an empty world.
00:12:58 I never put my value or any of that in how much money I was making.
00:13:05 It was always about, am I happy?
00:13:07 Am I on the right track?
00:13:08 My 20s, I guess I was a little bit delayed in the fact that it wasn't like, "Hey, I need
00:13:12 to make X amount of dollars."
00:13:14 It was really, I got to find my bliss.
00:13:15 I got to find and trust the path that I'm on is going to lead me to tap into the gifts
00:13:21 that I believe I have.
00:13:23 And I didn't know what they were.
00:13:24 I really didn't know what they were.
00:13:25 But looking back with many jobs, many roles, many responsibilities, it ultimately took
00:13:31 me to San Diego to meet my future wife, to open up my gym, and even where I'm at today
00:13:36 with all the different things I'm doing.
00:13:39 That was the impetus.
00:13:40 Again, stem back all the way to the youngest of eight kids and mom and dad getting divorced
00:13:45 to who I am today as a man.
00:13:47 - Obviously, being the youngest of eight can't be easy.
00:13:52 I was the youngest of two and I always felt like the youngest always gets the bad rap.
00:13:57 It's like, "Oh, you get to hand me down."
00:13:59 Your milestones have already been seen once by your older, your sibling, so your parents
00:14:04 aren't as excited.
00:14:05 "Oh, hey, good job, Jeff."
00:14:06 - Whoops.
00:14:07 - Yeah, I've seen that before.
00:14:08 But she's doing this or he's doing this.
00:14:10 The youngest of eight, I mean, and obviously having a single parent, I mean, did you kind
00:14:16 of have to raise yourself during your teenage years?
00:14:18 Not saying your mom wasn't there, but she had to work multiple jobs.
00:14:21 - She had seven siblings.
00:14:22 - No, yeah.
00:14:23 I never felt like that, that's for sure.
00:14:27 My mom is the most loving person I know.
00:14:31 And again, she just turned 90 and she is a, talk about mindset, she is a strong woman.
00:14:38 - Is she here in San Diego?
00:14:39 - She's in Florida.
00:14:40 I just got back from Florida.
00:14:41 My daughter had a lacrosse game down there, but of course, tournament.
00:14:45 And when I look at my mom now, I see such strength.
00:14:48 I mean, she was the one who's making meals every meal, doing laundry every night of football
00:14:56 and basketball and baseball and soccer, like all these things, and putting food on the
00:15:00 table.
00:15:01 And going through that, I had a lot of love.
00:15:04 I think back and that's what I'm most reflective between my mom and my sisters.
00:15:09 I also had great coaches.
00:15:11 And that's where the importance of coaching comes in because in all the sports, in 11
00:15:16 year varsity, letters and this stuff, I had great coaches, coaches who poured into me.
00:15:22 And they must have known my situation because I didn't like to talk about it because I was
00:15:25 embarrassed.
00:15:26 I was the lunch ticket kid.
00:15:27 Like, I didn't know what lunch tickets are, but I was the poor kid that had lunch tickets
00:15:31 and I'd hand it to the lunch ticket lady to make sure my friends couldn't see it.
00:15:35 I'd be turning my head and hand it to them because I didn't want them to know I was the
00:15:38 poor kid.
00:15:41 But yeah, that's, I think, part of what makes me who I am today and as part of my upbringing
00:15:46 is I never felt like it was anything different.
00:15:49 It was just, I mean, I had a lot of love around me and a lot of support.
00:15:53 My coaches and my family were really important in that.
00:15:56 Yeah.
00:15:57 I mean, the love that you get outside of the house is just as important, especially for,
00:16:02 I was a boy, so I don't know if it's the same for young girls.
00:16:05 I'm sure it is.
00:16:07 But you are spending, you spend a lot of time when you play sports on those teams.
00:16:10 That's right.
00:16:11 And those coaches and all coaches can really impact you.
00:16:15 Huge.
00:16:16 They don't always understand that impact.
00:16:18 Some of them do and they take it seriously, but others don't realize that level of impact
00:16:21 that they are helping to create the human being that will come from their time with
00:16:26 these young men and women.
00:16:27 It's unbelievable.
00:16:28 And I think that's part of the reason why, as a coach now, earlier even this year, I
00:16:33 was doing some soul searching on, if you had to define yourself in one word, like what's
00:16:39 your divine uniqueness?
00:16:41 What's your divine uniqueness?
00:16:44 If you could say in one or two words, what is it that you, in my 20s, I wouldn't have
00:16:49 been able to answer that in my 20s and 30s, I don't think, because I had a lot.
00:16:53 But if there's one word for me, it's coach.
00:16:56 And I coach in a lot of different realms now.
00:16:58 Physically, I'm still training athletes, but as a life coach and coaching my kids, I have
00:17:04 three kids and everything.
00:17:06 I think it is because of who I was around when I was younger, I always had coaches in
00:17:10 my life.
00:17:11 And to this day, I still have coaches in my life, between business coaches, spiritual
00:17:14 coaches and mentors.
00:17:19 Coaching is just part of my DNA.
00:17:21 And it's because of the number of great coaches I had in my life growing up and the role they
00:17:26 played from Coach Wolf picking up in eighth grade and bringing me to practices, to bringing
00:17:33 me to FCA huddles to hopefully help grow my faith at a young age.
00:17:40 So up into success in high school and college, I always had good coaches around me, and I'm
00:17:45 fortunate for that.
00:17:46 I think it was just for me, that was God's plan to, "Hey, someday you're going to be
00:17:50 a coach."
00:17:51 And whether it's in this business or that business or this business, but all the "businesses"
00:17:56 that I'm involved with, I'm a coach.
00:17:58 I mean, that's what I do.
00:17:59 When I speak now, I'm a coach who speaks, and I'm a coach who leads my businesses.
00:18:08 I'm a coach.
00:18:09 So to me, divine uniqueness, I'm a coach.
00:18:13 That's what I do.
00:18:14 - Well, and I love that, because we've talked on this show, for those listening, you've
00:18:16 heard when Tim Grover was here and Bedros and all the other previous guests, everyone
00:18:22 who is extremely successful I know has some coach.
00:18:25 And even the people I don't know, whether you're Kobe Bryant, Drew Brees, they all had
00:18:29 coaches.
00:18:30 It doesn't mean they can do the job better than you, but they can give you perspective
00:18:32 and help shape and guide and be perspective and even sometimes just ask you the tough
00:18:36 questions and force you to have that internal dialogue that's going to get you to where
00:18:42 you need to go.
00:18:43 - That's why I kind of laugh sometimes now, looking back, oh, it's 2020 again, right?
00:18:49 Is I grew up wanting to be an NFL quarterback for 20 years, like from five to 25, I wanted
00:18:55 to be the...
00:18:56 Well, with Drew, I've been coaching him now for 21 years, 21 years.
00:19:03 And in coaching him on the physical side, the mental side, all those different aspects
00:19:07 of his career, it's just funny, like, God's plan wasn't for me to be the quarterback,
00:19:13 it was to help the quarterback be successful physically, mentally, stay involved in all
00:19:18 those things.
00:19:19 And it's funny, sometimes you think you have life all figured out and you look back, it's
00:19:24 always 2020, but when you're trying to figure it out and navigate it, I was like, okay,
00:19:28 I got it.
00:19:29 I was supposed to coach these athletes to be the best they can be on and off the field
00:19:35 in all aspects, hold them accountable to what that is.
00:19:38 And I think that's one of the things I really, really cherish.
00:19:42 - As an entrepreneur, I know how meaningful it is to invest in the people and causes that
00:19:46 are close to me.
00:19:47 And on GoFundMe, it's easy, safe, and powerful to do just that.
00:19:52 Whether you're supporting a family member, friend, local business, or charity.
00:19:57 And whenever you make a donation, you're protected by the GoFundMe giving guarantee.

00:20:32 Eos Fitness, better gym, better price.
00:20:36 Now let's get after those goals.
00:20:39 - So I'm really curious because you were very, I don't want to say inexperienced, but you
00:20:43 opened your first gym.
00:20:44 - Yep.
00:20:45 - You didn't have a ton of gym experience.
00:20:47 - None.
00:20:48 - And yet, NFL quarterback named Drew Brees bet on you.
00:20:53 There has to be some reason, something that triggered that relationship, the catalyst
00:20:57 that said, "You know what?"
00:20:58 Because I asked Tim the same question about Michael Jordan.
00:21:00 You know, when he tells that story, that everyone else said no, but Michael wanted to do things
00:21:06 differently.
00:21:07 What was it that Drew saw in you or you saw that you were able to offer Drew that this
00:21:12 relationship got started and there was that bet?
00:21:14 Because an NFL quarterback can probably get access to quite a lot of coaches.
00:21:19 - Yeah, yeah.
00:21:20 - And yet, finish Quest X.
00:21:22 - It's funny because I first saw Drew when he just got drafted by the Chargers, San Diego
00:21:26 Chargers.
00:21:27 He was with his wife, then girlfriend, Brittany.
00:21:30 They were at the airport and I was at the airport.
00:21:33 It was like year 2000.
00:21:34 Like I hadn't trained him yet.
00:21:35 And he's coming, frolicking through the airport, holding Brittany's hand.
00:21:38 They're like 21 years old.
00:21:40 Right now he's 30.
00:21:43 And they're frolicking through.
00:21:44 I'm like, "There's Drew."
00:21:45 And I was going to say something to him.
00:21:46 I was like, "Nah, I'll leave the guy alone.
00:21:48 Like whatever."
00:21:50 The way I got to know him and become his coach is kind of a crazy story.
00:21:55 Again, call it what you want.
00:21:57 For me, you have these different God-winks or moments in time.
00:22:01 There's a guy named Vaughn Parker.
00:22:02 Vaughn was the left tackle for the San Diego Chargers.
00:22:04 His wife trained Pilates.
00:22:07 We had Pilates at the gym.
00:22:08 A year into the gym, this gal comes in.
00:22:12 She's like, "Hey, my husband has a bad back.
00:22:14 Can you work with him?"
00:22:15 I'm like, "Sure, I'll work with anybody.
00:22:16 I'm just trying to make the business work."
00:22:18 I didn't know her husband was Vaughn Parker.
00:22:21 Vaughn Parker, 6'6", 320.
00:22:25 He comes through the door.
00:22:26 I mean, he's massive.
00:22:28 And he comes in.
00:22:29 I'm like, "What does this guy do?"
00:22:32 And he's the left tackle.
00:22:34 He comes in for massage therapy.
00:22:36 I'm doing body work on his hips.
00:22:38 So I'm on his hips because I...
00:22:40 Remember, my football career ended to a back injury.
00:22:44 Vaughn Parker has a back injury.
00:22:46 I'm working on the same side that hit me, your psoas, your hip flexor muscle.
00:22:51 So I'm working on his psoas, his hip rotators, all things.
00:22:53 He's like, "Oh my God, this is amazing."
00:22:55 And as I'm working on him, I hear this splintering.
00:22:57 I'm like, "Man, this back...
00:22:58 I've never heard a back splinter before."
00:23:00 He's like, "Oh my God, that feels amazing."
00:23:02 So he's like, "This is great."
00:23:05 I'm hearing the splintering get louder and louder.
00:23:07 Next thing I know, the massage table broke in half.
00:23:13 Vaughn Parker's on the ground.
00:23:14 I'm like, "Oh my God, my first pro athlete I've ever worked with,
00:23:17 I just split the table in half."
00:23:19 He's like, "What just happened, TD?"
00:23:21 I'm like, "I'm not sure."
00:23:23 But I'm like, "I can't stop the session."
00:23:26 So I had just watched, show my age here, a VHS tape
00:23:31 of someone doing Thai Massage.
00:23:34 Now, Thai Massage, a lot of flexibility, mobility.
00:23:36 I take off my shoes.
00:23:37 I start walking on Vaughn Parker's back.
00:23:39 I'm in his glutes, his piriformis, and I'm doing his work.
00:23:42 He's like, "This is amazing."
00:23:43 I'm like, "I've been studying it."
00:23:46 We got this.
00:23:47 "Figure it out when things go astray."
00:23:49 So I'm working on him.
00:23:51 He's on the ground.
00:23:52 He's like, when I'm all done, I'm sweating like a horse.
00:23:55 And he's like, "TD, that was really amazing work.
00:23:59 Could you come down to the San Diego Chargers team room on Mondays after the game and do
00:24:04 work like that on me and some of the guys?"
00:24:07 I'm like, "Absolutely."
00:24:08 That next Monday, I'm at the Chargers doing work, and that's how I came in touch with
00:24:13 Drew and Lydanian.
00:24:16 So I'm doing work.
00:24:17 Lydanian, although I never worked on Lydanian at the San Diego Chargers facility, he's like,
00:24:22 "Hey, I understand you do some functional fitness.
00:24:24 You call it functional fitness work.
00:24:27 Can I work with you when the season ends?"
00:24:29 I said, "Absolutely.
00:24:30 Here's my number."
00:24:31 Remember, cell phones didn't exist in the year 2001 and 2002.
00:24:35 Pagers did.
00:24:36 Pagers did, right?
00:24:37 That's exactly right.
00:24:38 And he called me up the day after the season was over, Lydanian, first-round pick, San
00:24:45 Diego Chargers, calls me up.
00:24:47 He's like, "I need to get in."
00:24:48 I'm like, "When do you want to start?"
00:24:50 "Tomorrow."
00:24:51 I'm like, "Shoot."
00:24:52 It was his first year, rookie year, did really well.
00:24:56 Next thing, he comes in, and I start training Lydanian.
00:24:58 Three weeks later, he brings his quarterback in, Drew Brees.
00:25:02 That was the start.
00:25:03 And how did that happen?
00:25:05 Because as a quarterback myself, my whole career, it's all in the core.
00:25:09 60% of your power is generated from your trunk.
00:25:12 So I'm like, "I'm going to go on this cat's trunk.
00:25:13 I want to see where he's at."
00:25:15 So I'm doing this core work, and he's like weak.
00:25:19 I'm like, "Drew, your core, we can make a lot of progress in your throwing because your
00:25:24 core, especially in your rotary torso and doing all this rotation work on the BOSU side-ups,
00:25:30 it's not where it needs to be.
00:25:32 Massive room for improvement here."
00:25:34 Fight bowl moment went off for him, just like it went off for Lydanian in a balance
00:25:37 exercise I did with him.
00:25:39 And that was the start of it.
00:25:40 It was trust.
00:25:41 He trusted me right away, and I was nervous as heck working with those guys because, like
00:25:45 you said, I'm a young guy, green as green gets.
00:25:48 Even though I came from an athlete background, I never trained any athletes, let alone pro-athletes.
00:25:53 I mean, I didn't have a lot of athletes in my stable.
00:25:56 It was everyday Tom, Dick, and Harry's that were coming in.
00:26:00 Next thing I know, I have Lydanian, then Drew.
00:26:02 And in the athlete world, as you probably know, it's so much word of mouth.
00:26:05 And both Lydanian and Drew, they ran hard together for nine years training.
00:26:11 And a few years later, Lydanian became the NFL MVP in 2006, and his running mate, Drew
00:26:19 Breeze, was the same year he blew out his shoulder the year before.
00:26:22 He was the NFL MVP runner-up.
00:26:25 So Lydanian and Drew were one and two in 2006, and the rest is history from there.
00:26:31 It was all word of mouth.
00:26:33 And to set the stage, since I was a high school kid in 2000 when you opened Fitness Quest
00:26:37 10 and would always go visit my parents in Scripps Ranch, Todd's gym, for those of you
00:26:42 who are saying, "Yeah, but I can't build the greatest gym ever."
00:26:45 Let me give you some serious things.
00:26:47 To this day at Fitness Quest 10, they are running in the parking lot.
00:26:51 I am watching them train inside his facility, which is awesome, but when they need more
00:26:55 space, they go into the parking lot.
00:26:58 And they're doing burpees.
00:26:59 They're doing, they're pushing the tire.
00:27:01 I mean, I watch and have watched over the last 20 years how you didn't let lack of resources
00:27:06 not create an environment for you to perform.
00:27:08 And now it's even cooler.
00:27:10 But back then, they have two facilities in the same shopping center because it wasn't
00:27:14 big enough.
00:27:15 So it built off of itself.
00:27:17 And what you also said without saying is you said yes to a woman who you didn't know or
00:27:22 value can now work on her husband.
00:27:24 Of course I can.
00:27:25 I don't need to know that you're an NFL player.
00:27:27 I didn't chase that.
00:27:28 I chased making friends and delivering value to as many humans as I can.
00:27:32 And from that, opportunities fall.
00:27:35 Yeah.
00:27:36 No, 100% right, Jeff.
00:27:38 I mean, by the way, we didn't have a second facility until six years after.
00:27:42 And the first one was 2000 square feet.
00:27:44 Upstairs.
00:27:45 Upstairs.
00:27:46 Carpet on the floor, refurbished equipment.
00:27:48 But I always said, "I could train you in a parking lot."
00:27:50 It was never about the equipment.
00:27:52 It was never about the carpet, the flooring, or anything else.
00:27:55 It was if I'm going to connect with you, I'll change your life.
00:27:57 That was my mindset.
00:27:58 It wasn't like I'm going to say that.
00:27:59 But I'm like, "If I have the opportunity to work with you," and it didn't matter if you're
00:28:03 Donna Dickinson, the at the time 65-year-old woman who wants to play tennis.
00:28:08 If it was Carter Pease, Daryl Winhart, or LaDaine Tomlinson, or Drew Brees, put me in
00:28:15 a parking lot and we'll get better.
00:28:18 And that was always that mindset of we don't need the prettiest or the best stuff or that.
00:28:23 It was 2000 square feet, carpet, refurbished equipment, and let's get better.
00:28:27 LaDaine in space, MVP, and Drew.
00:28:31 We trained in pretty much an eight by eight space.
00:28:34 We didn't even really use a lot of equipment per se, other than some like Bosu's and functional
00:28:39 equipment.
00:28:40 We didn't use all the steel that we have today, but it was more about we're going to get better,
00:28:45 and we did.
00:28:46 - And you were also, you say functional fitness, but you were really ahead of the curve because
00:28:52 we didn't have YouTube back then.
00:28:53 We didn't have really the internet.
00:28:55 So to learn all these things, I was playing football in 2000 and 2001 in high school,
00:29:00 trying to figure out how I could get better.
00:29:02 And you don't have the resources today that you do, but you brought functional fitness.
00:29:06 And one of my favorite LaDaine Tomlinson stories is that his mom made him do ballet.
00:29:10 And that footwork obviously has shown and how amazing he was on the football field,
00:29:15 but you brought that to your training.
00:29:18 That was kind of a little bit revolutionary.
00:29:19 I mean, I'm sure there were other pockets and people doing that, but there wasn't like
00:29:23 a YouTube thing where everyone can learn it.
00:29:25 So you had to bring that.
00:29:26 And I think that that approach is also applicable to the mind.
00:29:30 You have to believe that.
00:29:32 - I used to think, man, I wish I knew what I was playing, what I'm actually teaching.
00:29:36 Because you think about when I was playing, like 10 years prior to that, it was squat,
00:29:41 lunge, bench, lat pull, tricep press down, bicep curl, and go hard and heavy.
00:29:46 So as a quarterback, I'm a rotational athlete, but everything was trained linearly.
00:29:51 So I'm like, okay, this doesn't make sense.
00:29:54 I want to be strong with all those moves, but we better train with rotation.
00:29:58 We better train diagonally.
00:29:59 So I just started thinking like, okay, let's look at the movement of a quarterback.
00:30:03 Now it's accepted that that's how you do it, obviously.
00:30:07 But back then, it was definitely at the forefront of how to train a rotational athlete, I'll
00:30:14 say, between pitchers and any throwing athlete.
00:30:17 It doesn't matter what sport.
00:30:19 But yeah, it was definitely out of the curve.
00:30:22 And even now, you're always pushing the envelope.
00:30:24 And even now with the athletes I work with, between football, baseball, basketball, the
00:30:27 different ones, it's what can we do to get you to the next level?
00:30:33 I don't care if it's an entrepreneur.
00:30:35 What can we do mentally to put you in a position to say, I can do this, I'm going to do it?
00:30:41 Because I do believe that physically, when you're in the best shape of your life, when
00:30:45 you feel strong, there's a big crossover physically into performance in the boardroom, in the
00:30:51 business room.
00:30:52 I don't care if the boardroom, the business room is a field or it's actually a boardroom,
00:30:56 literally, how you think.
00:30:58 And that's the biggest growth I've made in the last 20 years is I've always been a believer
00:31:03 in exercise and fitness and that.
00:31:05 But when it comes to the entrepreneurism and really trying to impact a lot of people, I
00:31:12 know how important that exercise, fitness, and nutrition plays.
00:31:16 And if you're an athlete, we're going to do everything we can to dial in your movements
00:31:19 and your mindset.
00:31:21 So that's still what I do.
00:31:24 And that was your first book, Impact Body Plan, which is a bestseller.
00:31:32 Thank you.
00:31:33 And one of four.
00:31:35 And I don't know if we can mention...
00:31:37 We're working on 2024.
00:31:38 It's going to be big.
00:31:39 I'll just say that.
00:31:40 2024 is going to be gold.
00:31:41 Big.
00:31:42 What I think you bring and why you speak nationally, why you have your podcast, why you're known
00:31:48 as a coach in all walks of life is because you do talk about the mind.
00:31:51 And whether you're an entrepreneur or an athlete, I agree with you.
00:31:55 If you're not taking care of your health and your wellness and you're not looking at the
00:31:57 nutrition and how you move your body, you're going to have pain and things that distract
00:32:01 you in the boardroom.
00:32:02 Because most of us are not professional athletes.
00:32:05 And most of us have careers post, like we talk about Drew.
00:32:07 I do a lot of business with Drew.
00:32:09 Drew's involved in so much business today.
00:32:11 He's not on a football field anymore, but he still brings it.
00:32:13 He sure does.
00:32:14 He brings it.
00:32:15 I didn't get to see him in the locker room, but I'm assuming he still brings that same
00:32:19 level of dedication that he did on the field.
00:32:22 It starts with taking care of yourself.
00:32:25 For those entrepreneurs who are sitting here saying, "Yeah, but I'm working 100-hour weeks
00:32:28 trying to make my business work.
00:32:29 I don't have time to focus on my physical fitness.
00:32:33 I don't have...
00:32:34 I'm a single parent or two parents struggling to pay their bills while get their side hustle
00:32:39 going while being a present parent."
00:32:41 How do you coach them or advise them to carve that out, to realize that you have to take
00:32:45 some time to be selfish about your body?
00:32:48 Because without it, you're going to break down.
00:32:50 Yeah.
00:32:51 Two things.
00:32:52 And first, I want to mention something you just said about Drew.
00:32:54 Because Drew now as a businessman is the same as what he was when he was playing.
00:32:59 I've been with him for the majority of his career of 20 years.
00:33:03 He brought the best out in everyone.
00:33:05 When he was training with Ledanian or Sprouls or Ertz or Gerald McCoy or Chase Daniel, all
00:33:10 the guys, he made every session better because he was in that.
00:33:15 Like it was crazy.
00:33:16 If Drew was there, the session was going up.
00:33:19 And it wasn't just because my intensity was up.
00:33:21 Drew brought that intensity and heat and presence.
00:33:25 And he always has.
00:33:26 Why is that important?
00:33:27 Because in the business world, when you go to your desk or you go to the boardroom and
00:33:33 you do your work, are you making people around you better?
00:33:35 Because people, the other athletes would say, "Man, that was a great workout."
00:33:40 Because the people you're around and who you're training with or you're working with, it's
00:33:46 really important those three, four, five, eight people that you're surrounding yourself
00:33:49 with.
00:33:50 So when I talk about Iron Sharpens Iron, man, who are you hanging out with?
00:33:53 This is a really important aspect.
00:33:55 And Drew epitomized that.
00:33:58 So that was the first thing.
00:33:59 The second aspect to answer your question specifically is, I don't care if you're working
00:34:04 50 hours a week or 100 hours a week or more, you got to make sure that you are dialed in
00:34:10 with your physical conditioning.
00:34:12 I'll say that to anybody.
00:34:13 And I've worked with billionaires.
00:34:16 And I've worked with the most successful people on the planet.
00:34:20 It doesn't matter if you don't have your health, you have nothing.
00:34:23 And I say this, if he or she who has their health has a thousand dreams, he or she who
00:34:27 does not has one.
00:34:29 And I've been with people on their deathbed.
00:34:32 I've been with people who have just been diagnosed with diseases that are going to die and they're
00:34:37 going to die.
00:34:38 And I've been with people who've turned their life around, their health and fitness, along
00:34:43 with the athletes who are playing because they either love the game or because they
00:34:46 can make good money at it.
00:34:49 But it comes down to your physical health.
00:34:51 If you don't have that, you got nothing.
00:34:54 And I know firsthand.
00:34:55 I know firsthand that because I've been where I've had my health.
00:34:58 I've been where I haven't had my health.
00:34:59 I've always, always preached the fact that you got to make sure you prioritize your physical
00:35:04 health and your inner self.
00:35:05 If you got your physical health and your inner self, those are the two spokes of my 10 forms
00:35:09 of wealth.
00:35:10 Wealth not meaning money, but wealth meaning harmony of your entire existence.
00:35:15 But if you have your physical health and your inner self, the first two of the 10 forms
00:35:19 of wealth, man, that's everything.
00:35:21 So what I would say to that person is you can't afford not to prioritize.
00:35:25 Matter of fact, what I'll say is just do it first thing in the morning.
00:35:29 I'm not a morning person.
00:35:30 Okay, do it first thing in the morning because Pastor Jeremiah, not an athlete, he's 82 years
00:35:35 old.
00:35:36 He's one of the clients I work with now.
00:35:38 And Jeff, when I say this guy inspires me more than most any other human being, he's
00:35:42 82, just came out with his bestselling book, hundreds of thousands of copies already sold.
00:35:50 He comes in at the worst time of the day for him because he's like, "I need to prove to
00:35:53 myself that I can still get through this and prioritize my health because I need to be
00:35:56 at the pulpit preaching and I need to be on fire at 82 years old."
00:36:00 Guys, we're going 50 years.
00:36:01 I'm like, "I just talked to them on the way up here."
00:36:04 Guys, I feel like the most...
00:36:05 I got to step my game up because he's 82.
00:36:09 He's like, "Don't forget what I'm telling you when I'm 75, Todd.
00:36:12 Don't forget when you're 75 what I'm telling you right now."
00:36:14 I'm like, "Gosh, who you hang out with is everything and your physical health, if you
00:36:18 don't have that and you lose it, none of it matters."
00:36:21 Because all of a sudden now, mentally, physically, you can't be the husband, spouse that you
00:36:25 want to be.
00:36:26 You can't be the parent you want to be.
00:36:29 Your mind is full of garbage and you got stinking thinking going on.
00:36:33 Man, to me, whatever that means.
00:36:37 I've had two knee replacements.
00:36:38 I've had injuries throughout the wazoo.
00:36:41 Find a way to move.
00:36:42 Your knees are hurt?
00:36:43 Work your upper body.
00:36:44 Your body's hurt?
00:36:45 Work your lower body.
00:36:46 You got to go out for a crawl?
00:36:47 Go out for a crawl.
00:36:48 I've been there too.
00:36:49 Find a way to move your body to get your mind right because your body and your mind work
00:36:53 together.
00:36:54 If you want to change your physiological state and your psychological state, you want to
00:36:57 change your psychological state, change your physiological state.
00:36:59 If you want to change your psychological state, change your physiological state because when
00:37:03 you change your physiological state, you're going to change your psychological state.
00:37:07 All because whether it's walking, jogging, running, lifting, all these things are crucial.
00:37:11 You have to prioritize it.
00:37:12 It doesn't need to be two hours a day.
00:37:15 It could be literally 30 minutes a day and you can change your life.
00:37:19 I agree.
00:37:20 I also want to add for especially the entrepreneur struggling with time management and struggling
00:37:24 with the fact that they're not seeing progress where they need it in their professional world.
00:37:28 By winning the day in those micro goals, so I believe in Kaizen and we were talking off
00:37:32 air and you mentioned win the day and I believe the idea of 1% better Kaizen and win stacking.
00:37:38 By doing that workout, by making sure that you prioritize, you will start to see progress
00:37:42 faster than maybe you will in your business.
00:37:44 That will get you the momentum to keep moving.
00:37:47 You'll start to see those wins that don't derail you when you're feeling like nothing
00:37:50 is happening.
00:37:51 You'll notice those physiological and psychological improvements and changes.
00:37:55 Yeah.
00:37:56 That's something that I've learned through the years is I used to try to really manage
00:38:00 my time better.
00:38:01 Now to me, I love the energy management system.
00:38:05 I really try to manage my energy.
00:38:07 When do I need to be on energy wise?
00:38:10 When do I have to be on whether it be a podcast, Jeff, with yourself or I'm going and doing
00:38:15 a talk where my energy's got to be on point.
00:38:19 It might be a two, three, four hour window of time a day where my energy's got to be
00:38:23 on fire.
00:38:24 The other time, it might be down a little bit but I can do more focused work on it but
00:38:29 it's all about energy management knowing, "Hey, if I've got eight hours a day or six
00:38:35 hours a day or 10 hours a day, when can I produce the highest levels of energy when
00:38:41 I can output?"
00:38:42 The way I structure my day now, I share it in my Get Your Mind Right book, chapter three,
00:38:46 I talk about how you structure your day and you put your highest energetic tasks earlier
00:38:53 in the day when you have the – if that's when you have your highest level like I do.
00:38:57 I work out and then everything's output in the morning.
00:39:01 From nine to one is output.
00:39:03 We're doing this right now.
00:39:04 It's in the morning.
00:39:05 Highest output.
00:39:06 I don't do podcasts on my own late in the day when my energy is starting to slow down
00:39:11 and tank.
00:39:12 How do you do that?
00:39:13 Well, then you look at your energy management and your tasks and you do your things later
00:39:17 in the day that aren't maybe as meaningful.
00:39:20 Emails.
00:39:21 I hate emails.
00:39:22 Emails, like, do them later in the day.
00:39:23 I don't need to have it all day or like how do you protect your energy and time to
00:39:29 do those things that are going to help move the needle and make an impact in the world?
00:39:33 So you keep saying the word impact.
00:39:35 It's on your shirt.
00:39:36 Yeah.
00:39:37 What does that mean to you?
00:39:38 It's become a way of life for me.
00:39:47 I wrote the Impact Body Plan in 2010.
00:39:49 It really, it was, I don't even really know.
00:39:51 It wasn't a brand.
00:39:52 It wasn't my soul.
00:39:56 But when I went and went to publish the book and they told me it wasn't called the Impact
00:40:01 Body Plan and they told me it was called something else, I said, "No, it's called the Impact
00:40:05 Body Plan."
00:40:06 And they're like, "Sorry, we don't think it's going to be the case."
00:40:10 And I said, "Okay, I don't want the book."
00:40:12 They said, "What?"
00:40:14 The Impact Body Plan came out and over the last 13 years since it came out, it has become
00:40:20 my way of life and everything I do.
00:40:22 It stands.
00:40:23 There's an acronym.
00:40:24 Live Inspired.
00:40:25 Master Your Craft.
00:40:26 So play it world class.
00:40:29 Take action.
00:40:30 Condition for greatness and be tenacious.
00:40:32 Live Inspired.
00:40:33 In everything you do, how do you live inspired?
00:40:34 How do you have big dreams?
00:40:35 How do you go for what you want to do?
00:40:37 And how do you really take your divine uniqueness along with all your gifts that you've been
00:40:41 ordained with and live that?
00:40:43 Master Your Craft is...
00:40:44 I talk to Drew about this all the time.
00:40:47 How do you become great at what you do?
00:40:49 They used to have the 10,000 hour rule, right, or the 10 year rule.
00:40:51 Now it's like, "Hey, every day, how do you master your craft?
00:40:54 How do you work on the tasks that are going to be most important to move that needle?"
00:40:57 The P is play it world class.
00:40:59 That's the mindset.
00:41:01 Play it world class is a mindset.
00:41:03 People listening to the show didn't listen to the show because they want to play at an
00:41:06 average level.
00:41:07 They believe there's something inside of them that, "I'm going to be special.
00:41:11 I am special.
00:41:12 I need a nugget or two."
00:41:13 Play it world class is when you show up, you show up with everything you got even when
00:41:17 you don't feel like it, even when you're tired.
00:41:19 How do the habits...
00:41:20 How do you go into the habits that are necessary to help you set yourself up for success in
00:41:26 three months, six months, three years, whatever that may be?
00:41:29 Take action is everyone wants...
00:41:31 I want to be healthy.
00:41:32 I want to be fit.
00:41:33 I want to be a millionaire.
00:41:34 I want to be...
00:41:35 Action is take action.
00:41:36 Don't just say it.
00:41:38 Take action on it.
00:41:39 Put yourself in circles around you that are really going to help you get you to where
00:41:44 you want to go.
00:41:45 And then condition for greatness, man.
00:41:49 Condition for greatness, and I'm getting emotional with this because it's my soul, but condition
00:41:54 for it isn't just physical.
00:41:55 It's the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
00:41:58 How do you condition yourself on all levels on a consistent daily basis so that physically
00:42:04 and energetically, you and your faith, everything that you're doing, you're in line with who
00:42:09 you truly are, and then you can show up as the man or woman that you're designed to be?
00:42:13 So conditioning for greatness, and the T is tenacity.
00:42:16 It's energy, fervor, spirit.
00:42:17 It's showing up with energy of like, "Hey, he's different.
00:42:20 She's different," because you have habits that allow you to do that.
00:42:23 So to me, impact has become a way of life.
00:42:27 Everything I do is impact, and a lot of my programs, my impact coaching, life coaching,
00:42:33 it's impact.
00:42:34 It just becomes something that's been part of my DNA since 2010, and it's, heck, it'll
00:42:41 be in my grave someday.
00:42:45 And what I love about it is that's your success formula.
00:42:49 That is your core values.
00:42:50 That is your roadmap.
00:42:52 When you're not sure what you're doing in your next venture, your next project, you
00:42:56 lean on impact.
00:42:57 And for those watching, we talk about success formula over and over and over again, and
00:43:01 some with your level of success who have trained some of the world's greatest athletes from
00:43:04 Olympians to professional football players, building a world-class gym that you got to
00:43:09 exit, speaking on stages all over the country, four-time bestselling author, a podcast that's
00:43:14 badass where you inspire and help.
00:43:17 If you're wondering, "Well, how can he do it?"
00:43:19 Impact.
00:43:21 That's the formula that you follow, and what I love about it is it's on your chest.
00:43:25 Because I talk about formulas all the time.
00:43:27 I think success is formulaic, and I think the people who aren't successful yet haven't
00:43:31 figured out their formula.
00:43:32 And I always say, "If you don't have one, steal one until you make it your own."
00:43:36 - Preach.
00:43:37 - Right?
00:43:38 You can work with a coach like you and get that coaching.
00:43:41 You'll train me on how to live my life with impact.
00:43:44 And now all of a sudden, your formula is my formula, and I'm going to get the results.
00:43:48 And that's the common thing that successful people figure out.
00:43:51 That's why LeDanian and Drew Brees work with you.
00:43:54 That's why billionaires work with you, and entrepreneurs, and 82-year-old pastors.
00:43:59 It's not because they want to be the next LeDanian Tomlinson.
00:44:03 That's a trainer.
00:44:04 And that's why I love that you didn't say, "I'm a trainer," because trainers train.
00:44:09 Coaches are different.
00:44:11 Coaching is way more.
00:44:12 I almost would rather hear what you said from a coach.
00:44:17 What we do with Moving Iron, anyone can do that.
00:44:20 We're going to fix and create the best form of you in a 360-degree totality mindset.
00:44:27 - Yeah, 100%.
00:44:28 - And that's why I love that.
00:44:29 - Well, thank you.
00:44:30 - And I love that it's on your wrists, it's on your shirt.
00:44:33 - It's everywhere.
00:44:34 - It's everywhere.
00:44:35 - It's everywhere.
00:44:36 - It's everywhere.
00:44:37 - Hey, everybody.

00:45:57 I want to talk about something that you told me about that's coming out that's going to
00:46:01 help all entrepreneurs.
00:46:03 I believe it's GSD, God Size Dreams.
00:46:06 Is that right?
00:46:07 Yeah.
00:46:08 God Size Dreams Planner.
00:46:09 And I don't want to misspeak about it.
00:46:11 So would you tell our audience about it?
00:46:13 Because it's something that you guys can buy right now.
00:46:15 And you can implement in 2024 and make 2024 your best year.
00:46:19 So if you're sitting there, there's one in there, A, action.
00:46:24 I say take immediate, decisive action is one of my core values.
00:46:27 So right now, you can take action and get involved.
00:46:30 Can you explain to them what your purpose is with GSD, what they're going to get from
00:46:34 it, and how they can use it in '24?
00:46:36 Sure.
00:46:37 Thank you for asking and sharing that.
00:46:38 We had a discussion prior to what I'm working on, and that was one of the things I've been
00:46:42 putting my heart and soul into the last few months.
00:46:44 The last several years, I've taken over 15 years of what you say formulaic reverse engineering
00:46:53 success into what do you want out of life, what do you want out of the year, and reverse
00:46:57 engineering it all the way down.
00:46:58 And I've created these systems that I use personally and those whom I coach.
00:47:03 I used to just share it with those whom I coach, and then three years ago, I started
00:47:07 sharing it with my God Size Dreams planner.
00:47:11 And what it really is is there's different aspects.
00:47:13 And besides just a planner, which of course it has your 2024 calendar and all those things,
00:47:19 your to-do list in there, really it's the coaching inside of it.
00:47:23 And the first and most important thing right now is the annual strategic plan, your annual
00:47:27 strategic plan.
00:47:28 And in that plan, there are the most important questions you'll ever ask yourself about life
00:47:34 and yourself and your relationships and your business, and of course, all the way down
00:47:39 into who the heck you are.
00:47:41 That first aspect is reviewing the past year, and then it goes into creating your most extraordinary
00:47:46 year and then creating your most extraordinary life.
00:47:49 And these are big questions.
00:47:51 I'll spend several hours in the month of December myself going through these questions.
00:47:58 What I advocate in the month of December and early January is someone take somewhere as
00:48:03 minimum of three to five hours in this month to work on these.
00:48:08 If you work on them, your year will change.
00:48:11 It'll be different because writing creates clarity.
00:48:14 Clarity precedes genius.
00:48:15 When you take your ideas and put it on paper with some very specific questions about your
00:48:19 life and your year and your big five for your year and what are you going to create and
00:48:23 your reverse end year, how are you going to create it, who are you going to surround yourself
00:48:26 with, and questions that are going to help you do that all the way to the theme of your
00:48:29 year, like this is the theme of 2024, this is what it is, all the way down.
00:48:35 I have 10 sections in that alone, and in it I actually share some of my deepest writing
00:48:41 exercises that if one chooses to do that, these are the deepest coaching exercises that
00:48:48 I've used in my own retreats that I host on it.
00:48:51 The first three sections are mandatory.
00:48:53 Everything else is what I call an "and some."
00:48:54 If you want to do the other seven sections, great, do it.
00:48:57 It's awesome.
00:48:58 The first three, if you want to change your life, do the first three sections and your
00:49:01 life in 2024 and beyond will be different.
00:49:05 Then everything else, they're all my systems.
00:49:07 My 10 forms of wealth every month, the first of the month you do your 10 forms of wealth.
00:49:11 I mentioned the physical health and the inner self.
00:49:15 There's 10 forms of wealth.
00:49:16 Do that.
00:49:17 It takes two minutes, and then you're three and 30.
00:49:19 Three goals in each of the 10 areas over the next 30 days.
00:49:23 On the first of the month, if you do this, on January 1st, if you do your 10 forms of
00:49:27 wealth in three and 30, you've got goals in each of the 10 areas of the 10 forms of wealth.
00:49:32 "Oh, Todd, I want more balance in my life."
00:49:35 Balance is a myth.
00:49:36 It ain't going to happen.
00:49:37 But if you have your 10 forms of wealth in three and 30, you're like, "I'm going to focus
00:49:40 on writing the book," or "I want to change my financial world," and you have three goals
00:49:45 this month, the next 30 days to do these goals.
00:49:50 You just focus on that, I promise you, your life will look different in 30 days.
00:49:54 All the way down into what I do, your W-Lags, your wins, losses, aha moments from the past
00:49:58 week, your goals for this upcoming week.
00:50:00 Every Sunday for 15 minutes, that's my system that I use to review and then prepare for
00:50:07 this upcoming week into my daily five.
00:50:09 Today, what are the five things that I'm going to do today to make sure I have a winning
00:50:13 day?
00:50:14 Because if I have a winning day, I have a winning week.
00:50:16 If I have a winning week, I have a winning month.
00:50:17 Winning month, winning quarter, winning quarter, winning year, winning year, winning decades,
00:50:21 winning decades, winning life.
00:50:22 It's all reverse engineered.
00:50:23 The whole thing is right there and that's my God-sized dreams planner 2024.
00:50:28 And I got to tell you, I'm really fired up because I've been working my tail off on it,
00:50:32 my own personal one, let alone getting it all ready to go out.
00:50:36 And now that it's out, it's going to change some lives and that fires me up.
00:50:42 - And I want to reiterate, if you don't take action, you don't follow a plan like this,
00:50:47 you don't have your own formula, you're not willing to put in the work, a year from now
00:50:50 when you're complaining about the results you didn't get, it's this work that you didn't
00:50:53 do, which didn't get you those results.
00:50:56 And as many successful people as I know, they all have a plan.
00:50:59 And so if you don't have one, this kind of a planner can be that impetus.
00:51:02 It can be the starting point.
00:51:03 I assure you, every time I'm with Drew, he has a pen and paper.
00:51:07 He writes everything down.
00:51:08 - He totally does.
00:51:09 - Like it's 2000 still.
00:51:11 He's not listening, he's not just recording it, he is literally writing it down.
00:51:15 I'm excited to get access to this GSD planner.
00:51:17 I'm going to use it because I want better results.
00:51:20 Even though I have clear success formula for me, I don't get down to that level of granularity
00:51:25 all the time, which means there are days I'm not winning.
00:51:28 It's wind stacking.
00:51:29 If I don't win today, I got to do more tomorrow to catch up.
00:51:32 - That's it.
00:51:33 And if you take your GSD planner and then you were to share it with your spouse, your
00:51:40 significant other, now all of a sudden you have some accountability.
00:51:43 Or your coach, like those who I coach, I say, "Share your big five for the year and let
00:51:48 me hold you accountable to your big five."
00:51:49 Because everything else has got to go, we got to get rid of some stuff to focus on here
00:51:54 are the big five.
00:51:55 What are the big five things you're going to do to change your life?
00:51:57 And it's not always about business.
00:51:59 It might be about a relationship and you want to repair a relationship or make it better,
00:52:02 good, or your personal health.
00:52:05 Maybe your physical health is one of them.
00:52:07 Big five for the year, let me hold you accountable.
00:52:09 If you have a coach or you have a significant other to help you with that, now you not only
00:52:12 wrote it, now you're actually sharing it.
00:52:16 Game changer.
00:52:17 - Game changer.
00:52:19 And my goal with this show is to make every single person successful because I think success
00:52:22 can be had by everybody.
00:52:23 - Agreed.
00:52:24 - And I know one of your goals is 10 million lives?
00:52:27 - It was.
00:52:28 - It was?
00:52:29 - It was 10 million.
00:52:30 - Okay.
00:52:31 - And then pandemic hit and I went through my own back injury again and then it expanded.
00:52:37 So it was 10 and I 10X'd it.
00:52:39 Yep.
00:52:40 - I love that.
00:52:41 - I 10X'd it.
00:52:42 - Through the GSD, we're going to help.
00:52:45 That's exactly why right now as I'm doing my own, I've been fired up since mid-November,
00:52:50 Jeff.
00:52:51 There's some things that are happening because of my own sitting down and saying, "Hey, the
00:52:56 last three years of going through this and navigating and using my own," I mean, my gate
00:53:01 in mind when I came out in the middle of the pandemic and going through my own stuff led
00:53:07 me to, you know what?
00:53:08 I thought it was 10 million.
00:53:10 It was always 10 million and now it's to the point of I'm going way beyond just those who
00:53:14 I coach in my mastermind group or in my gym setting and we're going to 10X that.
00:53:23 - That's amazing.
00:53:24 That fired me up.
00:53:25 I got to set bigger goals.
00:53:27 - Well, when you hang out with people like you and all of a sudden you start embracing
00:53:32 it.
00:53:33 But really, when you hang out with people like you, Jeff, and then you listen to something
00:53:36 like this and then ultimately you got to what I call tap into the whispers, you have to
00:53:41 make sure that you do the soul search inside of you like, "Okay, what am I supposed to
00:53:46 do?"
00:53:47 Like that really come to Jesus moment like, "All right, what am I supposed to do?"
00:53:51 And you tap into your divine wisdom of, "All right, what do you want me to do?"
00:53:55 And that's when you really got to do some deep work.
00:53:58 When you talked about like the GSD planner, it's the deep work that no one loves to do.
00:54:02 And only, listen, less than 10% of people are going to do it.
00:54:05 But when you do that work, it's transformative to actually do the work.
00:54:09 And when you do the work, all of a sudden, where it was, quote, 10 million people, now
00:54:14 all of a sudden it catch on like wildfire and we're changing lives through fitness,
00:54:19 through life coaching, and through the different programs we're offering because it's all about
00:54:23 becoming the best you can be.
00:54:25 My whole saying is live a life worth telling a story about.
00:54:27 What's your story?
00:54:28 Live a life worth telling a story about.
00:54:29 What's your story?
00:54:30 Whatever your story is, everyone's got a story, right?
00:54:33 You heard my story today, but everyone listening in has their own unique story and it's all
00:54:37 special.
00:54:38 And how do you let the world know who your story is and how do you create more impact
00:54:40 with that story?
00:54:41 To me, that's what is going to allow us to literally positively impact 100 million people
00:54:48 with positivity.
00:54:49 Because if there's ever a time that the world needs more positivity, energy, enthusiasm,
00:54:54 optimism, impact, it's now.
00:54:57 And that's why I'm fired up because 2024, we're going to have some pretty big things
00:55:03 coming out in 2024 that are going to, you know.
00:55:05 The GSD is kind of the foundational aspect.
00:55:08 You sit down, you do the work, five, ten hours ideally, I'm telling you.
00:55:13 Then you set the plan, you focus like heck on that, you put yourself around people that
00:55:18 are going to allow you to do that, you get your mind right, and then it's on.
00:55:22 And you do the work.
00:55:24 And next thing, how did she come to my life?
00:55:26 How did he come to my life?
00:55:28 People just are all of a sudden, wait, how did that happen?
00:55:30 Well, it's what I was just talking to Pastor Jeremiah about.
00:55:33 By the way, Pastor J, Dr. Jeremiah is one of the most famous pastors in the world.
00:55:38 He's got millions of followers.
00:55:40 That's why he said, "Don't forget when you're 75 what I'm just telling you."
00:55:44 Because this book that he just wrote, it shouldn't be having this kind of success that it's having
00:55:50 to the regular mind.
00:55:53 But all of a sudden, when it catches fire, next thing you know, it proliferates.
00:55:58 He's telling me, "Hey, in 25 years from now, don't forget what I'm telling you.
00:56:03 When you're 75, remember what I told you because I'll be long gone."
00:56:07 That's what he said.
00:56:08 I'm like, "Man, the guy's firing me up."
00:56:10 But listen, you have mentors around you.
00:56:12 I don't care how old you are.
00:56:13 If you're 20 listening in, you're 50 or you're 75.
00:56:19 It's all about the wisdom.
00:56:21 And Jeff, I know what you're doing is you're reaching a lot of people and doing so many
00:56:25 great things.
00:56:26 In fact, between your mission and my mission, we got like, man, 100 billion, 100 million
00:56:33 people.
00:56:34 Billion people.
00:56:35 Billion people.
00:56:36 Success is there for you and it's about taking that action.
00:56:37 So if you're going to do one thing from listening to this episode, get the GSD planner.
00:56:42 Take the time and do it.
00:56:43 Do the work.
00:56:44 You can decide in a year from now if it was worth it or not, but we're talking five hours
00:56:48 is what Todd said.
00:56:49 Three to five hours of interpersonal work can set you up for the best year of your life.
00:56:55 So I get to meet a lot of you when I'm speaking and I see you guys around and a lot of the
00:56:59 questions are, how do I?
00:57:01 How do I?
00:57:02 This is how.
00:57:03 This is what successful people do.
00:57:05 They have clarity.
00:57:06 They plan.
00:57:07 They know where they're going.
00:57:08 They have a path to get there.
00:57:09 They hold themselves accountable and they follow some formula like impact to do it.
00:57:14 So if you don't have your own model, start with impact.
00:57:16 Start with GSD.
00:57:17 And I mean, we're talking to one of the world's best coaches right now.
00:57:22 I'm not a coach.
00:57:23 This is a coach.
00:57:24 He knows how to do this.
00:57:25 He does it with some of the best.
00:57:26 Some of my friends who have achieved the highest level of success swear by Todd and his coaching.
00:57:31 TD style impact.
00:57:33 So Todd, thank you for coming and spending this time with our audience.
00:57:36 Jeff, thank you, man.
00:57:37 And you asked me, how did LeDany and Drew and these guys all come in?
00:57:41 I think part of it is the fitness side because they saw the workouts were challenging and
00:57:46 hard.
00:57:47 The other thing is what you just said.
00:57:48 Regardless of what you do for a living, it's who you are.
00:57:51 It's how you treat people and how you address the whole comprehensive total person being.
00:57:58 And how good of a listener are you?
00:58:00 Are you tapped in or are you looking at the phone?
00:58:03 So when you can really hone in and use your interpersonal skills to listen and to glean
00:58:08 wisdom from someone like yourself, I think these are like the unwritten rules of how
00:58:14 to be successful, things that most people don't ever look at.
00:58:17 But when you're listening now, the fact that you made it all the way through this podcast
00:58:20 and you're listening in and you're focused, or maybe you're going to go back and re-listen
00:58:24 and you're going to take notes in your notes section of your phone and you're like, "Man,
00:58:27 it's filled with stuff and I got to do these two or three things," or "I'm going to write
00:58:29 nothing else," your big five for the year and reverse engineer that.
00:58:34 That's exactly what it's all about.
00:58:36 And I think you're spot on with those who you're talking to in your audience.
00:58:42 Physically you got to stay strong.
00:58:43 When I say train hard, eat right, live inspired, if nothing else for your New Year's resolutions,
00:58:49 make sure you're exercising, you're training, because that'll trigger your brain to get
00:58:51 your mind right.
00:58:53 And between your body and your mind, that's going to allow you to really stay inspired.
00:58:57 So thank you for everything today.
00:58:59 Well thank you.
00:59:00 And you say iron sharpens iron, but I believe like attracts like.
00:59:04 And so if you're not mentally ready to be the best version of yourself, and Eladene
00:59:09 and Tomlinson in your own way of life, work, whatever it is that you're doing walks in,
00:59:13 and you're not there, they're not going to be inspired to want to work with you.
00:59:16 So you've got to make sure that you are the best version of you, because the highest performing
00:59:19 people want to be around other high performers.
00:59:21 And all of you can be high performers.
00:59:24 Every single person can be extraordinary.
00:59:25 You just got to find that extra stuff and add it to your day to day, and you get extraordinary
00:59:29 results.
00:59:30 Get the GSD planner, and let's have the best 2024.
00:59:34 And we can all know it started from Coach TD.
00:59:35 Man, I appreciate it.
00:59:37 Yeah, thank you.
00:59:38 And the one thing with that planner, people can just go to my website, tider.com, get
00:59:43 it right there.
00:59:44 It'll be in the notes below.
00:59:45 Or wherever.
00:59:46 I don't know if you're watching this, but yes, go to Todd's website.
00:59:49 You can get access to it.
00:59:50 And I want to hear about it.
00:59:51 So send me a message.
00:59:52 I want you to also let me be part of your accountability plan.
00:59:55 I want to know those big five goals.
00:59:57 There you go.
00:59:58 Thank you so much for listening.
