00:02 The Dallas Cowboys came into Saturday night's game against the Detroit Lions
00:06 with a playoff spot already locked up.
00:08 But amidst a two game losing streak, it certainly felt for
00:11 a number of reasons like a sort of must win for America's team.
00:15 Mike Fisher reporting from AT&T Stadium where the Cowboys return to this
00:20 building where they have not lost since last September.
00:24 A year, almost two seasons ago, Cowboys get the job done here with a crucial
00:29 but chaotic 20 to 19 win with an ending that Dallas coach Mike McCarthy
00:34 jokingly called a quote two point extravaganza.
00:38 The coach of the Detroit Lions, Dan Campbell, has another explanation for it,
00:43 another set of words for it.
00:45 For a game featuring two high octane offenses,
00:47 this was a surprisingly low scoring affair.
00:50 Heading into the fourth quarter, both teams were knotted at ten,
00:53 with the game still completely up in the air.
00:55 And the game stayed up in the air until the final seconds.
00:59 Lions took a lead first with a field goal.
01:01 Cowboys came right back to regain that advantage.
01:03 Dallas goes on a nine play 75 yard drive that lasts almost five minutes.
01:07 Dak Prescott finds Brandon Cooks for the go ahead score.
01:10 And not unlike last week in Miami, maybe the game winning score.
01:13 You thought maybe, but no, here come the Lions.
01:17 And they drive the length of the field and then they decide to go for two and
01:23 to go for the win instead of the tie.
01:26 Heart rates went way up for Cowboy fans and players, coaches and Lions too.
01:32 The Lions get in the end zone, they go for the two point conversion, but
01:36 then the referees get involved.
01:38 Three separate attempts due to penalties.
01:40 Some of them arguable and debatable and
01:45 controversial as we'll find examined over the course of the next few days.
01:49 But the Lions eventually come up short officially and
01:52 that preserves the win for the Cowboys.
01:54 Detroit coach Dan Campbell's sideline response to the referee involvement.
01:59 Three words, no bleeping way.
02:02 Prescott, Dak Prescott completed 26 of 38 for
02:05 345 yards, two touchdowns and did have one interception.
02:08 CeeDee Lamb, a star of the show, 13 catches, career high, 227 yards.
02:14 And a touchdown in the process, Lamb breaking Michael Irvin's record for
02:17 the most receiving yards in a season.
02:19 Jared Goff, 19 at 34 for 271.
02:23 The Cowboys struggled at times as the Lions moved up and down the field, but
02:28 in the end kept them out of the end zone when it counted,
02:30 especially on the two point conversion.
02:32 Cowboys now still have a shot at the NFC East and maybe even more.
02:38 For now, they will put this one in their pockets and value it and cherish it,
02:43 because this is Jimmy Johnson, enter the ring of honor night as well.
02:46 Quote from Mike McCarthy,
02:47 these are the kind of games where character is enhanced.
02:51 With the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium, Fish out.
