00:00 Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:03 A woman has been forced to pay out over £1,000 after driving through a pothole in Chesterfield.
00:09 Anne Todd was driving on Newbold Road when her car suddenly hit an unmarked deep pothole.
00:14 She was forced to pay out a total of £1,004 for repairs to two damaged tyres, and the suspension on her car also needed repairs.
00:21 A spokesperson for Derbyshire County Council, which has responsibility for the maintenance of roads, said
00:26 "Highways are working through all pothole reports as fast as possible and as quickly as weather conditions allow, including on Newbold Road,
00:33 but also on a priority basis of both safety and roads maintenance and main roads.
00:38 We are sadly seeing an increase in potholes as a result of the really poor and extreme weather we've had over recent months.
00:44 A wet summer, followed by flooding which included Storm Barbet, and then an early extended freeze and then continued heavy rain.
00:51 We are taking steps to fix as many potholes as possible and have taken measures including setting on additional reactive maintenance teams,
00:59 extra hot box teams who lay hot tarmac repairs, and working around the clock whenever conditions allow."
01:06 A Derbyshire Historical Centre is appealing for donations for repairs to a church damaged during recent storms.
01:13 The Midrand Railway Centre at Butterley said
01:16 "We are saddened to report that the recent storms have unfortunately caused significant damage to the Victorian Tin Tabernacle Church at our Swanwick Junction complex.
01:25 The church will now require costly repairs through the winter before the Centre will be able to reopen the historic building in the spring.
01:31 So far around £350 has been donated to the Midland Railway Trust to go towards the repairs,
01:37 and donations can be made via the Centre's Facebook page or website.
