00:00 Hello, very good day to you. Welcome to your latest Met Office weather update. Whilst it's
00:04 a showery picture for northern parts, it's a much wetter picture further south with heavy
00:08 persistent rain in association with an area of low pressure that's going to push its way
00:13 north-eastwards as we go through the day. We're likely to see totals of 20 to 30, possibly
00:18 even up to 40mm building up and that's why we have issued a yellow rainfall warning.
00:24 Anywhere in this warning area could see some flooding and some disruption to travel, but
00:29 I think it's most likely around central southern England, so Dorset, Hampshire into Sussex
00:34 where we have the greatest chance of seeing those highest rainfall totals building up.
00:39 As well as the heavy persistent rain, we need to watch out for some strong blustery winds.
00:42 Jersey Met has issued a red warning for the Channel Islands. Looking at the details through
00:47 Thursday afternoon, that heavy persistent rain then edging its way a little bit further
00:51 north-eastwards, a scattering of showers further north, particularly across parts of Scotland,
00:56 Northern Ireland and into Northern England. But in between these two areas, for more central
01:00 parts, we're likely to see something a bit drier and possibly even brighter for a time
01:05 before some cloud pushes its way up from the south. Temperatures will be near normal for
01:10 the time of year, just about scraping into double figures towards the south, but with
01:14 the wind and that rain, it is going to feel pretty unpleasant.
01:18 That rain then continues its way north-eastwards as we go through this evening and overnight,
01:23 so bringing some heavy persistent rain to parts of East Anglia and into Lincolnshire
01:27 could be some further issues as a result here, and it continues well through the early hours
01:32 of Friday morning. Otherwise, further showers likely, particularly towards the west. Some
01:36 of them could be a little bit on the heavy side, but in between, something a bit drier
01:40 and also some clear spells possible. Under these clear spells, we could see a touch of
01:45 frost perhaps and also some patches of mist and fog as we wake up on Friday morning.
01:50 Otherwise, through Friday in the east, a bit of a wet start, that rain continuing for a
01:54 time but does eventually clear away, though for eastern north-eastern parts of Scotland,
01:58 some persistent rain continuing here. In Shetland, we could see some wintriness, so some sleet
02:03 is quite likely. Otherwise, a scattering of showers, especially across parts of northern
02:07 England, Wales and perhaps western England too. Also, coastal parts of Scotland and Northern
02:12 Ireland likely to see a few showers, but a bit further inland, it's looking quite a bit
02:16 drier and there should be some sunshine at times as well. Temperatures likely to be similar
02:21 to Thursday, perhaps even down a degree or so, but still near normal for the time of
02:26 year. Most places mid to high single figures may just about get into double figures somewhere
02:30 towards the south. Looking ahead and into the weekend, we're still going to be under
02:35 the influence of an area of low pressure towards the north, so bringing some blustery, showery
02:39 weather for a time. And whilst there will still be a few showers coming and going as
02:43 we go through Saturday and into Sunday, we're generally going to become under the influence
02:47 of high pressure. So that means things are going to turn more settled with lighter winds
02:52 and mostly dry picture, a good deal of winter sunshine during the daytime, but we'll likely
02:57 see some chilly nights with an increasing risk of some frost and fog. As a result, it
03:02 is worth keeping up to date with the forecast wherever you are. You can do so on our YouTube
03:05 channel. I'll see you later. Bye bye.
