PH included in list of safest countries in Southeast Asia
Transcript
00:00 Okay, this one has a little feel-good ring to it.
00:03 The Philippines is one of the safest countries to live in in Southeast Asian region.
00:09 Read my lips again.
00:11 One of the safest places to live in as the country chopped up an 86% rating.
00:16 Good enough for third in Gallup Analytics latest poll that our Patrick De Jesus hashes
00:22 over in this report.
00:26 The Philippines is one of the safest countries in Asia according to a study.
00:31 In Southeast Asia, the country ranked third behind Vietnam and Indonesia after garnering
00:37 a Law and Order Index score of 86.
00:40 US-based Gallup Analytics, the one who released the study, conducted a survey in 2022 with
00:48 a thousand respondents from countries all over the world.
00:51 The PNP on the other hand stressed this will help in boosting the economy.
00:56 Last year, PNP data showed crime rate decreased by 8%.
01:01 It adds up to the considerations of our investors and tourists who are going to a place.
01:09 We know very well that these two aspects, the investors and tourists, plays a big role
01:16 in the boost of the economy.
01:19 Aside from the efforts of the police force, Acorda also cited the contributions of the
01:24 community.
01:25 The community engaged, reporting, complaining if there are any suspicious activities.
01:33 And of course, the media, your role also because your reach is wide.
01:38 With this free, what do you call that, flow of information, communication, there's two
01:45 ways, there's interaction and engagement.
01:50 And with that, all the wrong things we see in the community, even crime, it leads to
01:57 a peaceful community.
01:58 That's how I look at it.
02:00 But the PNP is not just monitoring ordinary crimes.
02:04 They are also in alert for cybercrime where artificial intelligence or AI can be used
02:10 for different scams.
02:12 I agree with that fear.
02:14 So that's what we are, actually realistic here, because based on our statistics, it
02:19 really is escaping.
02:20 So for our part, we are addressing it via the updating of our tools and the applications
02:29 that we use, but also, our police force is also included.
02:33 Acorda emphasized the training of their cyber cops for intensified cyber patrolling.
02:39 Patrick de Azuz for the nation.
