00:00 John, as you know, the Washington
00:01 commanders requested this week to
00:03 interview both Ben Johnson and Eric
00:04 Glenn for their head coaching vacancy.
00:06 What do you make of that being the case
00:08 from the lines to coordinators being up
00:10 potentially for the commanders opening?
00:12 Yeah, you know it's well expected.
00:14 I think that all year the talk has been
00:17 regarding the talents of the Detroit Lions.
00:19 When you look at it.
00:21 The league is wondering how did the
00:23 Lions end up winning 12 games, 12 and 5,
00:26 especially coming from last season
00:27 when they won nine games.
00:29 You recognize that part of the success
00:31 of the Lions has been the success of
00:33 Aaron Glenn, the defensive coordinator,
00:35 and Ben Johnson, who has led the
00:36 offense for the past two years.
00:37 The commanders did move on quickly from
00:39 Ron Rivera and it was announced the same
00:41 day that they parted ways with their
00:43 former coach that they have requested
00:45 formally to talk to both of the lines
00:47 coordinators.
00:48 Look, it won't happen the week, the first
00:49 week, at least of the playoffs, but
00:51 in the end, Dan Campbell was asked his
00:53 feelings regarding having his
00:55 coordinators and balancing the outside
00:58 noise and distractions versus the work
00:59 they have to do to prepare.
01:01 And Dan Campbell indicated these two
01:03 are professionals.
01:04 It's all about the Lions and they
01:06 understand that their current
01:07 responsibility is to put forth the best
01:11 game plan for the players to succeed.
01:13 The work is not done and in the time
01:15 being in the short term, it's all about
01:17 the Lions and I think Ben Johnson and
01:19 Aaron Glenn all year long when they've
01:21 been asked about their potential future
01:23 have been really upfront and honest in
01:25 that if it happens, they'll definitely
01:28 take the opportunities that are
01:29 available, but in the short term, their
01:31 goals are to help the Detroit Lions do
01:34 whatever it takes to meet their goals.
01:36 And the work has just now started.
01:38 The Lions are in the tournament, as Dan
01:40 Campbell likes to say, and now it's up
01:42 to them to finish the job here in Motown.
01:46 And with Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson,
01:48 the Lions have a real strong opportunity
01:50 to win some playoff games this year.
01:52 John, as you know, the Lions have been
01:54 lucky to have both Ben Johnson and Aaron
01:55 Glenn call them players on their
01:56 respective sides of the ball throughout this season. Thanks for all the time.
