APES registers 82 attacks on journalists using the state of emergency

A total of 82 attacks against journalists, while carrying out their journalistic work of reporting, graphic documentation and investigation, have been recorded by the monitoring center of the Association of Journalists of El Salvador (APES), since the state of emergency began on March 27, 2022 until December 31, 2023. teleSUR

00:22 the Journalists Association of El Salvador since the state of exception began on March 27,
00:26 2022 until December 31, 2023. In some cases, a police or military authority prevented them from
00:32 carrying out their work in public spaces, using as an excuse the application of charges of unlawful
00:38 associations. According to Gabriel Labrador, rapporteur for freedom of expression, the
00:43 violations of freedom of expression in the country had been committed by the police and the violations,
00:48 accretions and harassment towards journalists and media in general have worsened with the
00:53 implementation of the state of exception.
