00:01 - You wanna be?
00:02 (upbeat music)
00:05 - Hi, I'm Lindsay Matthews, a farm senior commerce editor.
00:08 I'm at Wildflower Farms,
00:10 the first over resort property in New York state.
00:13 And we're up in Gardner, New York, in the Hudson Valley,
00:16 about a 90 minute drive from New York city.
00:18 I'm staying in a meadow cottage.
00:20 So come in and check it out with me.
00:22 (upbeat music)
00:24 (upbeat music)
00:27 So this is one of the one bedroom cottages.
00:37 You can book it connecting to a second one
00:40 if you are coming with your family or a group of friends.
00:43 And there are 65 total cottages and cabins on the property.
00:47 All of the design work is beautiful.
00:50 It's by a New York design firm called Ward and Gray.
00:53 They designed it with locally sourced antiques
00:56 and a lot of custom elements.
00:58 Like this quilt was made specifically for these rooms
01:02 and you can see it's embroidered down here.
01:05 And what I love about this
01:07 is all the different textures in here.
01:08 So you can see there's velvet couches,
01:11 nubby wool chairs, lots of wood and marble.
01:15 My favorite thing about this room
01:17 is all the different cozy places to sit.
01:19 I particularly love this little reading nook.
01:22 It's made out of this kind of dark orange velvet
01:26 and there's this beautiful celestial inspired table
01:29 and a mohair throw.
01:31 And a lot of these items you can buy up at the shop
01:34 that they have up in the check-in desk,
01:36 which is run by a local store.
01:38 The bathrooms in each of the cottages are also massive
01:43 and full of beautiful details.
01:45 As you can see, this stone countertop
01:48 is slightly reminiscent of the Shawangunk Mountain Range
01:53 in the distance beyond the hotel.
01:55 All of the soaps and lotions are made in-house
02:00 and they smell amazing.
02:01 Each of the cottages have private outdoor space
02:05 as well as you can see there's a private deck
02:08 with a couch, a table,
02:11 and these beautiful handmade Adirondack chairs
02:14 that is shared with the cabin next door.
02:16 (upbeat music)
02:19 Before Auberge bought this property,
02:30 this land used to be a tree farm.
02:32 And as you can see behind me,
02:33 these are a few of the remaining trees
02:35 that they kept on the property,
02:36 which are gorgeous in late October.
02:39 - It's kind of funny,
02:43 this like definitely,
02:44 I don't think the intention was always to have this
02:45 for guest use,
02:46 it's just sort of the fact that we come.
02:48 - Wildflower Farms also has a working produce farm
02:50 on it now.
02:52 Guests are welcome to tour it with the farmers
02:53 for a behind the scene look.
02:55 (upbeat music)
02:57 - It's like a lot of shapes like this,
03:08 which I think is fun.
03:10 (upbeat music)
03:12 (upbeat music)
03:15 - So in addition to serving a lot of food
03:21 they grow themselves at their restaurant,
03:24 Wildflower Farms is committed to working
03:26 with a lot of local brands.
03:27 So you'll see in the main bar,
03:29 there's beer from local breweries like Arrowwood,
03:32 and then they also make house-made cocktails
03:36 that you can enjoy right in your room
03:37 at the bottom there.
03:40 In addition to the produce they grow at Wildflower Farms,
03:43 they also have pigs and chickens on the property.
03:46 Every morning at 8 a.m. guests are welcome
03:49 to come to the chicken coops
03:50 and pick out the eggs they want
03:52 and take them back to the restaurant
03:53 to have them cooked for their breakfast.
03:55 Thanks for joining us on this tour of Wildflower Farms.
