00:00 Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office. Now through the next 24 hours it's breezy and then it turns windy with some damaging gusts through Thursday night.
00:10 Before that though, as you can see here, it's a fairly quiet evening on Wednesday. Before this weather front brings with it cloud, low cloud at that and also some outbreaks of rain.
00:20 Pushing ever northwards with more rain to follow through Thursday afternoon and then this is an active feature which will bring squally winds as well as some heavy rain.
00:30 It all clears off the scene by Friday and then we'll see the sun. Before that though, clear skies across many parts through Wednesday evening.
00:37 Temperatures falling away, recovering towards the west with the onset of more cloud and some milder air, also some outbreaks of rain.
00:44 But expect a frost across the north east of Scotland through the early hours of Thursday morning and a chilly start to the day across eastern counties of England.
00:51 It will be wet for Northern Ireland, the far south west of Scotland as well as Wales, north west England, central southern England as well.
00:59 Temperatures here by mid morning will reach double figures, the air is that mild.
01:04 So through Thursday morning we watch as this wet weather continues its passage across Scotland. A bright start for Caithness, Orkney and Shetland but more cloud and then eventually some rain here.
01:15 It's a keen wind coming up from a mild direction, patchy rain and drizzle and low cloud will follow that rain but some breaks, particularly across eastern counties, will allow temperatures to 13 degrees Celsius
01:28 and some brighter skies for Northern Ireland through the latter part of the day. Whereas for much of Scotland, particularly across more eastern and northern areas, outbreaks of rain, rain and drizzle further south west across Wales as well as the west country.
01:41 Now through Thursday evening that rain continues to push eastwards and this is an active cold front with some heavy pulses of squally rain and we could see some damaging winds just for a time
01:53 as it tracks from Scotland and Northern Ireland quite quickly towards eastern counties of England through the early hours of Friday morning and then we see showers follow and some lower temperatures.
02:04 A chillier day all round on Friday, at least though there will be some brighter weather, even some sunshine.
02:10 So first thing on Friday that rain clears off the scene, you can see that cold front moves towards the low countries.
02:16 A lighter breeze towards the south but still windy across the north as well as the west and these showers will become frequent through the day as well as heavy with the risk of thunder.
02:26 Brighter skies across England and Wales, we hang on to some higher temperatures across eastern counties, chilly though in the wind further north and west. Bye bye.
