00:00 fighting crime with filmation this time here's a look at the brand-new
00:03 McFarland toys the new adventures of Batman Batman
00:09 playboy billionaire by day Bruce Wayne's double life affords him the comfort of
00:24 a life without financial worry a loyal butler turned guardian in the perfect
00:28 base of operations in the ancient network of caves beneath the family's
00:31 sprawling estates by night however he sheds all pretense dons his iconic
00:35 scalloped cape and pointed cowl and takes to the shadowy streets skies and
00:39 rooftops of Gotham City incredibly detailed six-inch scale retro style
00:43 figures based on the new adventures of Batman designed with articulation with
00:46 up to 12 moving parts for retro play just before we get a closer look at a
00:51 brand new figure of a slightly older cartoon caper Seder let's take the old
00:54 tape measure and see how tall the brand-new new adventures of Batman
00:57 stands the actual series of the new adventures of Batman actually ran from
01:01 February 12th to May 28th 1977 so it predates the person behind the camera by
01:05 one year you can start doing the math for yourself sadly though the series
01:10 only ran for 16 episodes and yet it's been released on DVD and since has
01:14 recently been re-released on blu-ray I'd like to thank the folks as well over at
01:18 McFarland toys that did provide the sample of the brand-new new adventures
01:21 of Batman we can have a look at back to the tape measure the figure of Batman
01:24 stands exactly six inches in height you can see it for yourself or the figure is
01:29 going to be 15 centimeters tall in the off chance that the figure looks
01:32 familiar to you it's because they're using the 1960s Adam West Batman for the
01:36 body you can see that they are using the arms the gloves the lower half of his
01:40 body even his boots the only thing really that they've changed differently
01:43 here is giving him a brand new headpiece with cowl here's as well what the figure
01:47 it looked like with the same Adam West Batman just slightly different colored
01:50 cowl and of course wearing his breathing mask bodies are the only thing that gets
01:55 shared between the two Batman the figure also comes in clue with accessories that
01:58 we've seen already with the 60s series first the figure comes in clue with a
02:01 batarang the batarang is the same one that we did get from the 60s series
02:05 Batman just lighter colored matches of course the cowl the cape the under ruse
02:09 and the gloves the thing about it though is that both of them still have the hole
02:12 so if you had yourself the proper eyesight be able to feed through that
02:16 that's pretty small of a hole you could put a rope on the end of this and Batman
02:20 would be able to have the means to throw this now he does have also the means to
02:23 hold the batarang although with this one they're actually using the original
02:26 Adam West Batman that only had one gripping hand I wish that they could
02:30 have actually used the breathing mask Batman because that Batman would have
02:33 actually had gripping hands on both sides then you would be able to
02:35 accommodate both accessories was the other accessory you may ask well the
02:39 figure also comes in clue with this bat radio and just to reach off to the side
02:43 you can also see as well they are using the exact same bat radio this one is
02:48 maybe a little bit lighter color you can see kind of around the outer area of the
02:52 silver but other than that the bat radios are the same still again I wish
02:56 that I mean looking at the two figures I'm just gonna bring back in the Batman
03:00 had the breathing mask for example see how this one has two gripping hands and
03:03 yet the original 60s Batman had only one gripping hand and in the other one for
03:08 punching with onomatopoeia bubble boxes kind of wish again they could have used
03:12 this hand this figure so you could have actually had the benefit of using two
03:16 gripping hands let's move those out of the way if though you wanted to put
03:19 these in his hand again you only have one to choose from just take the bat
03:23 ring and it fits inside his grip pretty well although it's a little on the
03:27 looser side so I mean this may not be one thing you're gonna want to be moving
03:30 and playing around too quickly with because of course this may fall out of
03:32 his hands and he also has again you can just move the grip just a little away
03:36 from the palm and you get the bat radio in there as well the bat radio obviously
03:40 doesn't sit as well you sort of have to pinch it against Batman's fingers and
03:44 his thumb but he also has at least the means what we're think though is on the
03:48 back of the radio I'm just gonna look on the other one here as well yeah it sort
03:51 of has the contoured lines that look like it's been 3d printed Kenny you can
03:55 kind of see the way they unless that's the way the original bat radio look like
03:58 in the series anyways though Batman is using those same accessories he is also
04:02 using the same cape and one of the problems that goes with using the same
04:06 cape is that continued McFarlane wants to add tape on the bottom of the cape to
04:11 glue it inside the packaging or to adhere it inside the packaging so the
04:14 cape just doesn't flop around be very careful when removing the tape I forgot
04:18 all about the problems I had for the 60s series trying to take the cape out of
04:22 the packaging as peeling away the tape leaves unfortunately a really horrible
04:26 left mark a mark left behind on the cape you can see right there so be careful I
04:30 mean you could cut the tape right where it cuts on the end of the the actual
04:34 cape but of course you're still gonna have to remove it may just want to run a
04:37 few passes perhaps with a hair dryer just to soften up the glue a little bit
04:41 and then you just be able to peel the tape off a lot easier I'll know that
04:44 next time when we have a look at some of the other cape characters from this
04:48 series getting a little closer look though at the new new adventures of
04:52 Batman Batman again from a 70s series late 70s series this predates the 80s and
04:57 the starting of like the superpowers super super challenge of the super
05:01 friends trying to get that all out speaking of challenge of the super
05:04 friends I would be loving to see McFarlane using maybe this same type of
05:08 body giving us versions of Townsend super friends you know of course with
05:12 the Legion of Doom I I mean obviously I'm still a little disappointed by the
05:15 fact that these figures don't have any articulation for the tops of their thighs
05:18 sure yes they still swivel back and forth but I would love if these figures
05:22 could have had right from the beginning and that predates it back to the 60s
05:26 series that they also would have had articulation at the top of the thighs
05:29 headscope wise it's a really good-looking Batman from the cartoon I
05:33 don't think he looks then they're like the friendliest this Batman looks a
05:37 little somber a little sad I would have given him a little bit of a smile or
05:41 something but the colors of the cowl are very close to the cartoon that's a lot
05:45 of C's you got the darker color there on the top there this really reminds me of
05:48 all like the molten the merchandise that would have gone around in the early 80s
05:52 mostly from super friends but I had myself a light bright for example that
05:56 had super friends characters and of course I mean really once you start
06:00 adding the pegs into the light bright it just ruins the whole idea of exactly
06:03 what color you're supposed to be putting in Batman supposed to have blue but then
06:06 again like the moment you start putting the pegs in you'll be lost by the idea
06:10 of where the things are supposed to go when you wanted to recreate Batman a
06:13 second time now he does have the little emblem there down below the benefit of
06:17 them actually using just the basic body and not actually sculpting this means
06:21 really that they can do whatever they want when it comes to printing this in
06:24 place like I mean obviously the bat symbol is pretty close to the one that
06:27 we got from Adam West it's just slightly varied but it's pretty close though the
06:33 utility belt of course down below is also one thing it carries over what
06:36 would have been gold from before is now completely yellow here with the newer
06:39 Batman it still sits a little low though so you can see the top there of the the
06:43 trunks of Batman I wish that this was a little bit higher up on that though it's
06:47 the same body I mean obviously it's using this type of arm as opposed to the
06:51 breathing mask I still wish that they could have used the breathing mask so at
06:53 least he would have had a double gripping hand instead of just the one
06:56 capes are pretty much exactly the same at least from the way they attach on to
06:59 the back of the figure they are pointed as well the same way so they probably
07:02 would have you just used the same cape pattern and the boots are also exactly
07:06 the same really between the two I don't know why though looking at the two
07:10 Batman I've got one very obvious seam line right down here on the side of his
07:14 thigh it wasn't here on the original one or even if it was it's very faint this
07:18 one's even more apparent here and I don't know why it doesn't have it as
07:22 much on this side but there's this big long line that runs down the side of
07:26 Batman's thighs obviously though if you're only looking at from the front
07:29 you'd really never even notice the fact that there's that little seam line
07:32 articulation on this figure is gonna be exactly the same as the Adam West Batman
07:36 so his head's gonna rotate all the way around it looks up pretty good I mean I
07:40 mean obviously it looks up that far it doesn't really look very good head also
07:44 rocks back and forth as well as for his arms his arms go way beyond the point of
07:48 90 degrees you can also as well take those arms and rotate them the problem
07:52 with it though is his his torso you can see sort of forms the shape of a
07:56 triangle so it's gonna get a little hung up you can see when you start to rotate
07:59 the arm all the way around the figure also does have just get his arms down
08:03 here a bend on the elbow which also allows the form to rotate back and forth
08:07 the hands as well rotate all the way around the figure has a waist swivel and
08:11 while unfortunately he doesn't have still the splits on the legs which is
08:15 the one thing I really wish that these figures could have had right from the
08:17 beginning he still manages to have a swivel back and forth figure has a
08:21 single hinge in the knee the lower leg only rotates slightly which leads me to
08:26 believe that there's only just a hinge alone in the in the knee itself and
08:29 there's no ankle articulation whatsoever figure does though technically have
08:32 pegs on the insides of his feet so if you wanted to have Batman in a more
08:35 running pose even though he doesn't come in clear with a display stand you could
08:38 easily pillage one from another McFarlane release all in all though a
08:42 nice-looking figure we are gonna be looking at the rest thanks to the folks
08:46 over McFarlane toys the rest of the new adventures of Batman figures but again
08:49 bringing back in the original 60s Adam West Batman and bringing in the
08:53 breathing mask Batman well yes using somewhat the same bodies this one just
08:58 benefited again from the gripping hands I do wish again like I said this already
09:01 I know I do wish that this figure could have had the similar arms to this one
09:04 even though again like they're really using the 60s Batman body anyways just
09:08 use those gripping hands then he would have the means to hold both back
09:11 accessories other than that though yeah really happy with this line I was a big
09:15 fan of the original 60s series Batman line that McFarlane has produced I think
09:19 they are still producing figures for that but I'm really super stoked I grew
09:22 up loving the filmation new adventures of Batman again only running 616
09:26 episodes that's not much at all it certainly will have a lasting
09:29 impression and this is sort of also as well that iconic Batman that carried
09:33 over to other cartoons like Scooby-Doo so things like the Joker figure that we
09:37 will be looking at an upcoming video the new adventures of Batman Joker it's
09:40 again that iconic Joker that made appearances not only in the new
09:43 adventures Batman cartoon but made appearances elsewhere as well it's the
09:47 new adventures of Batman and the case of the stolen display stand actually we can
09:51 close that case right away I'm admitting the fact that I stole the display stand
09:54 from a DC multiverse figure while these figures don't have display stands no
09:58 they do have the benefit at least of having universally sized holes on the
10:01 bombs of their boots so you could use a display stand from another figure that
10:05 McFarlane has produced I've got the Batman figure right now in a running
10:08 pose I wish one thing that could be benefited this figure this guy has what
10:11 12 points of articulation I would have upped the ante till 14 and at least
10:16 given him swivels on the tops of his thighs that we can get a wider stance on
10:19 Batman but at least for what he has he has at least 12 points and that's a lot
10:23 more than some of the retro figures that have been released by other toy
10:26 companies now we are of course getting a Batman that's built the same way as the
10:30 original 60s Batman but that 60s Batman also benefit from eventually having
10:34 vehicles I hope that this Batman is gonna follow suit and at the very least
10:39 at the very least we're gonna be getting ourselves a Batmobile one that
10:41 accommodates not only the Kate Crusader but also as well the boy wonder as Robin
10:45 is part of the new adventures of Batman wave as well big thank you once again to
10:49 the folks over at McFarlane toys that did provide the sample the brand new
10:52 new adventures of Batman Batman that we can have a look in this review as
