00:00 From the house of L to the house of Lords, here's a look at the Brandy McFarlane Toys
00:04 DC Super Powers Justice Lords Superman.
00:22 The Superman of Earth 50 leads the Justice Lords, a justice league from an alternate
00:26 universe where they enforce law and order through any means necessary.
00:31 I don't really think any of us are ready for a man of steel that enforces martial law.
00:35 Though just before we get a closer look at the new Super Powers Justice Lords Superman,
00:39 I'd like to thank the folks over at McFarlane Toys that did make this review possible by
00:43 providing the sample we're looking at here.
00:46 Superman is going to stand the same as the Superman from before.
00:48 He's four and a half inches in height, or the figure's about 11 and a half centimeters
00:52 tall.
00:53 Speaking of that, here's what the figure looks like with the original Super Powers Superman.
00:57 Same body, yes, same head sculpture, but what they have done differently is printed not
01:01 only the logo a little bit larger on the Lords version of Superman, but they also gave him
01:05 now a different fabric type of cape.
01:06 We're going to talk more about that in a moment.
01:08 Speaking of other alternate reality characters, here's what the figure looks like with the
01:12 Batman from Xuronar.
01:13 And then of course on this side, one of my still favorite figures we've gotten from the
01:16 Super Powers line, the Blue Cowl Batman.
01:19 No accessories come packed along with Superman, even in fact the original Superman, just because
01:23 he possessed only closed fists.
01:24 He wouldn't even have the means to hold any weapon anyways.
01:27 But still though, a little shard of kryptonite could have gone a long way, especially if
01:31 you're going to try to take down the Man of Steel.
01:34 What I do really like about this figure though is while it is, yes, using the same body as
01:37 the other Superman, they have made a few little notable changes.
01:41 Being the biggest one is the fact that they've now given him gray on the side of his head.
01:45 If we were to bring back, of course, that Superman, not only can you see that his locks
01:49 are still black, so he doesn't have the gray on the sides, but this Superman also has red
01:53 eyes, almost as if he's ready to use his heat ray vision.
01:56 Again the head sculpts are exactly the same.
01:58 But I do like though, I like the coloring on this Superman a little bit better, the
02:01 one that I'm tapping with on the side with my finger.
02:04 I feel like the face is a little too pale, but maybe it works really well with the idea
02:08 that this Superman is now not so much evil, but of taking control of his matters.
02:13 The figure also, as you can see, is yes, using the same body.
02:15 But I did already mention though, that when it came to the cape, they're actually using
02:19 a much softer material, as opposed to the Superman that we did get from before, which
02:23 if you have that figure, you already know, it's kind of more of a denser, crinkly kind
02:29 of material.
02:30 It's much shinier as well, but it also is much more prone to showing wrinkles.
02:33 Has of course the Superman logo on the back, which by this now being the Lord's version,
02:37 while I do like again that the fabric that they've used, there is of course no obviously
02:40 familiar Superman symbol on the back.
02:43 I do in a way wish that they could give us a version two Superman, at least of the original
02:47 Superman, so we could get more of a material like this.
02:49 Because I think again, like the material is a little bit more easier to work with.
02:53 It is also a lot more, there's additional material that they obviously have used on
02:56 the front here.
02:57 Normally though, that would have bothered me.
02:59 Like if we looked at the original Superman, I did wish that the fabric was a little bit
03:02 more pulled back, so that so much of it was actually across his shoulders.
03:06 But considering that with when it comes to Lord's Superman, really the cape should be
03:10 really part of the front of his torso, then I don't mind the fact that you've got this
03:13 excess.
03:14 It's a little sloppier in some of the sections, but the fact that we have so much cape there
03:18 on the actual shoulders, I think works really, really well.
03:21 I just though wish that the coloring on the white was a little more brighter, so that
03:25 if you were to look at the front of it, it would look like it'd be more of a gradual
03:28 change then into the cape.
03:30 Because as it is right now, the darker coloring that they used for the white, it actually
03:33 comes across more like a really light gray as opposed to white.
03:36 I think it should have been a lot brighter than what it was, so it would work a lot better
03:39 to look like the cape was still part of it.
03:41 He has that painted on the sides of his shoulders.
03:43 He also has it down below here on his arms.
03:46 What they found was a smart way of doing this is if you look at the shoulders, you would
03:49 swear that this is an additional sculpted piece that wasn't on the original Superman.
03:53 And yet though, if you look at the original Superman, the way they've deliberately sculpted
03:57 the shoulders and painted it the way they did on this, it actually looks like this is
04:00 now a new tooled piece.
04:03 When actually it's still the muscled shoulder of Superman.
04:05 They just simply have painted it right around the outline of where that muscle ends.
04:10 Very smart use of the way they've painted that.
04:12 Of course, he is missing his lower trunks.
04:14 He's basically an all black clad body, but he does now have the silver, kind of more
04:20 of again that off gray circular shape on the front, and then he's got the majority of
04:24 then his belt behind it.
04:25 And so again, not a bad looking Superman.
04:28 On the back though, I can't help but notice I got one little line here.
04:30 I don't really know why.
04:31 I'm sure it's just the way that they took the molding and it probably just stops right
04:35 here as they probably took two halves and connected them in the middle, and there's
04:38 just only the gap left behind of where obviously those didn't meet right in the middle, but
04:42 obviously you're only going to have the cape covering over it anyway, so you're never
04:45 really going to see it.
04:46 The figure is going to be limited when it comes to posability, but goes with the territory
04:49 of course of superpowers figures that they only really have it in the head, the shoulders,
04:53 the legs, the top of the legs at least, and the knees.
04:56 Going through all of that again and actually showing you guys, so Superman, Justice Lord's
04:59 version does have just a straight swivel on the head, so it only just rotates all the
05:03 way around.
05:04 That's as good as you're only going to get with this figure.
05:06 The arms though at least rotate all the way around, all the way around, no swivel or anything
05:10 in the wrist, no swivel at all in the waist, and then legs go forward and back, and there's
05:15 only just again a bend in the knee.
05:16 Now if you think to yourself, that's very limited.
05:19 The original superpowers, while also possessing at least a gimmick, these figures don't have
05:23 now any gimmicks or anything like that, you wouldn't be able to squeeze the legs, but
05:26 the articulation is about the same, even possessing it also in the knees.
05:30 So they haven't changed anything or limited the amount of posability on the newer superpowers
05:34 figures versus the original ones.
05:36 I like the look of this Superman.
05:38 I can only hope though, the fact that we have the introduction now of Justice Lord's Superman,
05:42 that we're also going to follow suit so to speak with the rest of the remaining Justice
05:46 League members.
05:47 I don't think it necessarily would work to use this Batman for example to get a Justice
05:51 Lord's Batman, but you know I think this Batman would work really well for it.
05:57 While again maybe not working as well for the initial release of Batman, it worked really
06:00 well for Zero and R Batman.
06:01 I think they could also use that same mold again to give us a Justice Lord's Batman.
06:05 Hey why not?
06:06 While I don't think the Page Punchers line has done all that well for McFarlane toys,
06:10 I think the concept of actually including a comic with a figure could be something also
06:14 that they carried over here to the superpowers.
06:17 Because after all, the original superpowers toys did come included with a mini comic.
06:20 I think that would be a prime time to incorporate that idea.
06:23 Again just carry it over from the Page Punchers to something I feel would work a little bit
06:27 more successfully.
06:29 Plus also from the printing standpoint of making a comic, having it smaller in size
06:33 because I think the mini comic that comes included with the superpowers figures were
06:35 like a quarter of the size of a standard comic.
06:38 Not only would they be saving the cost of not producing the Page Punchers, but also
06:42 as well they'd be saving the cost of producing the comic because again it would only be a
06:45 quarter of the size.
06:46 I do hope though, while maybe not including accessories, which again is a bit of a bummer
06:50 that some of the superpowers have not had anything in the way of things other superpowers
06:54 figures have.
06:56 But though for the figures that don't have it, including though a mini comic might be
07:00 a good idea.
07:01 Not only to pay nostalgic back to the original toy line that Kenner produced, but also as
07:05 well incorporating the idea of a comic with a figure.
07:08 What do you guys like that?
07:09 Do you think that would be a good idea?
07:11 Having a mini comic because after all again the original Kenner figures did have that.
07:15 Want to carry that idea over as well to the newer superpowers stuff as well.
07:19 Have you guys had the chance to pick up the new Justice Lord Superman?
07:23 And what do you think of that on paper?
07:24 Do you like the idea that they're now doing Justice Lord characters and would you like
07:27 to see them also approach the remaining League members also in the same similar superpowers
07:32 style?
07:33 Let me know down below in the comment section.
07:35 Big thank you once again to the folks over at McFarland Toys that did provide this sample
