00:06 Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we're taking a look at our picks for the 10
00:11 weirdest unlockables in Tekken.
00:14 [Music]
00:20 The Tekken series dabbles in the bizarre every now and again, but when we nabbed
00:24 these unlockables, well, these were beyond absurd even for our favorite fighting
00:29 game franchise. Which unlockable did you find to be the
00:32 oddest? Let us know down in the comments.
00:35 Before we begin, we publish new content all week long,
00:38 so be sure to subscribe and ring the bell to get notified about our latest
00:42 videos.
00:44 Gone!
00:47 On the surface, a cartoon dinosaur seemed like a real
00:54 WTF moment when we played Tekken 3 back in the day.
00:58 For those unfamiliar, Gone was a character from a manga series that ran
01:02 from 1991 to 2002, and he was the biggest
01:06 cheater in Tekken 3. Thanks to his short stature,
01:10 most attacks from opponents would never connect, allowing him to quickly close
01:14 gaps and become an annoying poker. Hey, at
01:18 least you have an easier way of beating the game on harder difficulties.
01:21 The AI never knew how to properly deal with him.

01:30 Rainbow Hair!
01:34 Tekken 7 has a handful of strange cosmetics to unlock through currency and
01:41 treasure battles. In treasure battles, you'll occasionally
01:44 encounter opponents sporting the mystical, ever-changing rainbow hair. This
01:49 hairstyle changes colors throughout the fight in real time,
01:53 and to be honest, it's kind of distracting.
01:56 It's like we had some kind of psychedelic slipped into our system.
01:59 But the real problem with this unlockable? Not every character can rock the look.
02:04 Most of the female cast can, but when more than half the roster looks
02:09 odd sporting it, we can't help but think there could have been something better
02:13 here.
02:20 Eliza!
02:23 If you missed this free-to-play spinoff, Tekken Revolution was supposed to be a
02:31 means to bring arcade-style fighting to Tekken through
02:34 home consoles, specifically the PlayStation 3. The game
02:38 was never released for Xbox 360 for some reason.
02:41 This game would be the debut for Eliza. Why is she a weird unlockable?
02:45 Well, vampires haven't exactly been a thing in Tekken.
02:49 Well, neither were demons, robots, cyborgs, ghosts, ancient beings, and dinosaurs with
02:54 boxing gloves until the second game and all the sequels
02:57 thereafter, so... Okay, point taken. Point taken! Never mind,
03:02 we'll move on.
03:04 Round two.
03:10 Combat.
03:18 Imagine this. For whatever reason, you thought to yourself,
03:22 "Today's the day I'm going to beat Tekken 4's story mode
03:26 nine times." You unlock several characters and fill out half the roster in, say, half
03:31 a day or less, and on the ninth run, you get combat. Yes,
03:36 beat the story mode nine times to unlock the token Mokujin in the
03:41 weakest entry in the franchise. All of that effort gone to waste just
03:47 for Combat. Combat! A character who randomizes his
03:51 moveset every round and looks like a dopey
03:55 action figure. They just couldn't bring back the
03:58 sentient tree, could they?
04:02 Jenga hat.
04:14 If you thought the rainbow hair was a bit off, well, you haven't seen the best
04:18 headpiece yet. One of the best unlockable hats you can
04:21 get is a tower of Jenga blocks. Of course, it
04:25 isn't called that for obvious reasons, but there's no mistaking it,
04:29 that's a tower of Jenga blocks. But the hat gets better.
04:32 The more hits you take in a match, the more blocks fall off and scatter across
04:37 the ground. Can you keep a perfect tower intact, or
04:40 will you be left in pieces? Starblade.
04:46 Once upon a time, Namco used to throw in classic games like Galaga in every
04:55 Tekken game. For Tekken 5, they packaged in Starblade,
04:59 a 3D on-rails shooter that launched in arcades
05:02 all the way back in 1991, and you can play it when booting up Tekken 5.
05:07 It's a strange game to include when there are so many other classic Namco
05:11 titles lost to time. Dig Dug 2, Galaxian,
05:16 um, Mappy? Yeah, Mappy. Anyways, if you want to play Starblade for
05:21 yourself at your own leisure, simply beat story mode with every
05:25 character. It's that simple, and certainly not grueling in just how
05:31 meaty of a task it is. There's a lot of characters in Tekken 5, you're gonna be
05:35 there for a while.
05:37 Punch-Out Mode.
05:46 Want a game mode that can make you nauseous? Tekken 2 has a secret first
05:55 person mode that you can access at any given time.
05:58 Start a run in one player mode, and hold L1 and L2 as you choose your fighter.
06:04 A successful attempt will turn the game into a sort of punch-out mode,
06:08 where your character will be a green wireframe, and your opponent
06:12 is creepily staring you down in their garishly polygonal way.
06:16 Try not to get disoriented or traumatized.
06:21 The Masks.
06:33 The last- this is the last time we're railing on Tekken 7, okay?
06:36 We're- it's the last time we're gonna rail on the customization options,
06:40 promise, but we have to talk about some of the head masks.
06:43 There are a few we'd put on for giggles, like the Heihachi
06:47 dummy head, but then you have stuff like the realistic
06:50 deer heads. There's just something super uncanny about seeing a deer head
06:55 on Asuka or Jin Kazama. We suppose it works if you're trying to creep people
07:00 out online or give streamers a good laugh, but uh,
07:03 man, this is- this is more unsettling than it is funny.
07:08 Roger and Alex.
07:15 The first Tekken's weirdest unlockable character was Kuma, you know, the bear.
07:26 Tekken 2, on the other hand, somehow outdid its predecessor in absurdity.
07:31 As if throwing in a boxing kangaroo wasn't odd enough for you,
07:35 well, how about a boxing Velociraptor? Look, Alex and Roger have solidified
07:40 their own places in the world of Tekken, but you have to admit that at the time,
07:44 many of us were wondering what the hell was happening. We were all for it,
07:48 but still, what the hell's happening?
07:52 Tekken Bowl.
08:00 Tekken Bowl is the weirdest unlockable in the entire franchise,
08:04 but it is also the best. Whether you're playing the original iteration in Tekken
08:09 Tag Tournament, the one in Dark Resurrection, or the recent
08:12 version in Tekken 7, there's something wildly entertaining in
08:16 seeing these brawlers blazing down the bowling lanes.
08:19 And to make it even more amusing is how characters actually have
08:24 different stats that will affect their aim and power gauges.
08:27 If you have not tried out Tekken Bowl for yourself, you have not experienced
08:32 paradise, my friend.
