00:09We understand some of these games could slip from their projected release dates next year
00:14and some of these games do feature multiplayer but as long as going solo is the main aim
00:19of the game it counts for our list.

00:35Assassin's Creed Shadows
00:36It's hard to believe we haven't had a fully-fledged entry in the Assassin's Creed series since
00:47Valhalla in 2020.
00:49Yes, we had Mirage but that was more of a half-step.
00:53With AC Shadows, Ubisoft is finally giving fans what they've been demanding for entire
00:58console generations and taking the series to feudal Japan.
01:03Featuring two playable protagonists, whom players can often choose between at the start
01:07of missions, each with their own distinct playstyles and numerous weapons, we'll also
01:12get some new mechanics such as the ability to crawl, which we honestly can't believe
01:16it took this long to implement in the series.
01:19Shadows also features a dynamic weather system, which will not only affect how players interact
01:24with the world, but also how they approach their missions.
01:28Shadows was recently delayed to February 2025, which puts it in direct competition with Ghost
01:34of Yotai for the best stealth samurai game of the year.
01:44Like a Dragon, Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.
01:50Eat your heart out, skull and bones.
01:52This is the only pirate game we're interested in playing.
01:55It would seem that Yakuza found it hard to leave the Hawaiian paradise behind and the
02:00series' next spin-off title, starring everyone's favorite eye-patched companion, Goro Majima,
02:05will be taking place on the high seas.
02:08Unlike the recent turn-based combat entries, Pirate Yakuza returns to the series' trademark
02:13brawler combat, while also exploring the island Goro washed up on and building your
02:18own band of misfit pirates.
02:20Players will also be able to fully engage in naval battles and even board the enemy
02:24ships to take on their crew.
02:26Can you even imagine such a thing?
02:29So far, Pirate Yakuza is shaping up to be a throwback for long-time fans, as well as
02:34the best pirate adventure since Assassin's Creed Black Flag.
02:46Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
02:53Kingdom Come Deliverance made quite an impact when it was released, with its incredible
02:57attention to medieval detail and strict adherence to realism.
03:01Its long-in-development follow-up looks to build on what made the original so memorable,
03:06while innovating on its own mechanics and formulas.
03:09The first title was already an incredibly expansive and cohesive experience, but the
03:14sequel promises to give players not only a world twice as large as the original to explore,
03:19but also more choices in how they approach conversations and missions that affect the
03:24overall narrative.
03:25We'll also see the addition of new weapons such as rudimentary firearms and crossbows.
03:30The Kingdom Come series is not for the faint-hearted, and due to the realistic nature of the game,
03:35can be extremely difficult for those expecting a Skyrim-style experience.
03:40This is the real Dark Souls, and you will die a lot.
03:50Pokemon Legends ZA
03:53Pokemon fans have been dying for some innovation in the long-running series, and while we don't
03:57have a ton of information about the upcoming Legends ZA, what we do know so far has made
04:03die-hard trainers very excited.
04:05The second game in the Legends series, ZA will return future Pokemon trainers to Lumio
04:10City in the Kalos region, which hasn't been seen since the beloved Pokemon X and Y.
04:16According to recent leaks, ZA will also see the return of Mega Evolutions, and will possibly
04:22mark the start of the 10th generation of Pokemon, which always comes with all-new Pokemon for
04:27players to find and capture.
04:29Given the 2025 release window, it's likely ZA will be a cross-platform release with Switch
04:34and Switch 2.
04:36Judas
04:37But I'm here to set you free, whether you like it or not.
04:43It's hard to believe it's been over a decade since Bioshock Infinite, but in 2025, gamers
04:49will, supposedly, get their hands on Bioshock mastermind Ken Levine's next project, Judas.
04:56Set on an enormous colony spaceship, the Mayflower, with the last remnants of humanity
05:00caught in the middle of a civil war between three separate authorities, each with their
05:05own ideals for humanity's future.
05:07Players will need to side with the different authorities throughout the game, and their
05:10decisions will affect their relationships with the rest, which can even result in them
05:15actively attempting to sabotage the player.
05:18Ken Levine describes the game as Narrative Legos, in which the game will have any number
05:22of outcomes based on the player's actions and allegiances, which can affect the overall
05:27narrative leading to different results and endings each time you play.
05:40Earthblade
05:41Extremely OK Games' sophomore effort, Celeste, took the indie world by storm, and became
05:47one of the most critically acclaimed indie games of all time by both fans and critics.
05:52The balance of challenging but rewarding platforming combined with a shockingly deep and introspective
05:57narrative combined perfectly to tell a story that was equal parts heartbreaking and uplifting.
06:02Naturally, any kind of follow-up will have a lot to measure up to, and thankfully, rather
06:07than just repeat their past success, the developer is building on what made Celeste such a hit.
06:13Utilizing an open-world Metroidvania design, Earthblade maintains the pixel art style and
06:18platforming challenges of Celeste, while also giving players a variety of enemies to
06:22combat.
06:23We know very little about the overall narrative besides the player character, Nevoa, returning
06:28to a ruined Earth, but we have every reason to believe Earthblade will pull on your heartstrings
06:33just as effectively as Celeste.
06:36The Midnight Walk
06:44There have already been a handful of games that have utilized stop-motion to give their
06:48game a distinctive style, such as Harold Halibut earlier this year, but few have been as ambitious
06:54as The Midnight Walk.
06:56Not only is absolutely everything in the game handcrafted and animated, but it is fully
07:02explorable in 3D and even playable in VR.
07:06The Tim Burton-esque art style is immediately eye-catching, and both the world and creature
07:11designs perfectly encapsulate the dark fantasy aesthetic and are uniquely unsettling in motion
07:16thanks to their meticulous detail.
07:18Players will need to outsmart and escape many of their enemies rather than engage in outright
07:23combat as they guide their little pop boy through the world of nightmares that is all
07:27too eager to snuff out his little light.
07:40Replaced Fans of the cyberpunk genre have been spoiled
07:43for choice lately, but Replaced is putting its own unique spin on the genre.
07:48Despite the 2.5D perspective and pixel art style, Replaced absolutely nails the cyberpunk
07:55aesthetic and its narrative of an AI placed within a human body is instantly engaging.
08:00The game features an inventive combat system which coupled with the game's cinematic
08:04presentation can instantly make players feel like an AI-driven killing machine straight
08:09out of the film Upgrade.
08:10Phoenix City is phenomenally detailed, full of neon lights, rainy streets, flying cars,
08:16and numerous alleyways and hidden paths to explore.
08:20Dripping with atmosphere and a gorgeous art style, a unique combat system, and a complicated
08:25and interesting narrative, Replaced looks to be another solid entry in the cyberpunk
08:30genre that can stand alongside the likes of Cyberpunk 2077.
08:34Avowed Obsidian has finally achieved the worldwide
08:45recognition they always rightfully deserved as one of the best developers of western RPGs
08:51and with their latest upcoming title Avowed, the studio is coming for Bethesda and Skyrim's
08:56glory.
08:57While the developer has already set expectations that Avowed will not be on the scale of Skyrim,
09:02it will nonetheless feature mechanics Elder Scrolls fans are familiar with, along with
09:07Obsidian's incredible choice-driven narrative gameplay and world-building.
09:11In addition to sword and shield combat, players will also utilize several firearms as well
09:16as multiple spells which can be combined with the rest of their arsenal.
09:20Set within Obsidian's Pillars of Eternity universe, players will be tasked to investigate
09:25a mysterious plague affecting the kingdom and will encounter all manner of enemies,
09:29unique NPCs, and joined forces with numerous companions along the way.
09:50The Gears franchise has been suspiciously absent from Microsoft's new box, but after
09:55the surprise reveal that the series will be going back to where it all began, we can't
09:59wait to take on the Locust hordes again.
10:02Gears of War E-Day reunites appropriately younger versions of series regulars Marcus
10:06Phoenix and Dominic Santiago in the earliest days of the Locust invasion, 14 years before
10:12the events of the first Gears of War game.
10:15While the Coalition has confirmed that there are still plans to continue the current Gears
10:18events set up at the end of Gears 5, the team wanted to explore the brotherhood between
10:23Marcus and Dom, as well as see them as inexperienced COG soldiers struggling to survive the surprise
10:29invasion.
10:30Fans of the old-school, more horror-driven and linear nature of the original trilogy
10:34of Gears games will find themselves right at home with this origin story.
10:51Fable
11:00Fable fans have had a rough few years since the original mainline trilogy ended back in
11:052010, and there wasn't really much hope of the series making a comeback.
11:09Thankfully, Microsoft refused to give up on the IP and instead of resurrecting Lionhead
11:13Studios, instead gave the franchise to Playground Games, the developers of the highly acclaimed
11:19Forza Horizon series.
11:21From what we've seen so far, the newest entry manages to maintain what made the original
11:25game such a hit.
11:27The wry humor, combat, and world of Albion all seem to be in good hands.
11:32While we haven't seen much true gameplay so far, the bits we've seen seem to hit all the
11:36right marks fans are familiar with.
11:38Hopefully, the newest entry maintains the series' good and evil karma system, as well
11:43as the all-important character creator.
11:53Doom the Dark Ages
12:03Doom has had one of the greatest renaissances in gaming in recent years, reestablishing
12:08the series as the premier run-and-gun shooter with back-to-back bangers Doom 2016 and Doom
12:14Eternal.
12:15With a third entry in the rebooted series, the developers at id Software are taking the
12:19Doom Slayer back to his roots even further by chronicling his first encounter with the
12:24forces of hell, and things are about to get medieval.
12:28The trailer showcases the Doom Slayer's iconic boomstick, as well as new additions to his
12:33arsenal including a gun whose ammo is human skulls, a new shield weapon the Slayer can
12:38use to block and parry incoming attacks, as well as rev up and throw around the battlefield
12:43slicing and dicing as it flies.
12:46This is alongside all new variations on the familiar formula such as piling an enormous
12:50mech and taking to the skies on the back of a dragon.
13:01Monster Hunter Wild
13:11The Monster Hunter series has grown in recent years from a niche series to mainstream appeal.
13:16Particularly with the unprecedented success of Monster Hunter World, and Capcom is looking
13:21to keep that momentum going with the newest entry, Monster Hunter Wilds.
13:26Wilds gives players more options for hunting than ever before in the series, with all new
13:31weapon types and combinations as well as a mount to explore the vast new open world biomes.
13:37Players will also have new variations of familiar tools such as the slinger, and a new focus
13:42mode in which players can target specific weak spots on the many monsters they're hunting.
13:47Hunters will also encounter herds that will protect themselves from the approaching hunters
13:51and dynamic weather which will affect the animal's behavior.
13:55As with previous entries, players can team up for hunts, but a true hunter is a lone
14:00hunter.
14:06Rise of Hydra
14:20Marvel has been experiencing quite the renaissance with their properties in recent years and
14:25given the talent behind Marvel 1943, we fully expect Rise of Hydra to be another banger.
14:31After having her plans for an adventure in a galaxy far, far away crushed by EA for focusing
14:36on an original single player narrative driven adventure, Skydance Media asked Amy Hennig
14:41to create an original single player narrative driven adventure set in the Marvel Universe.
14:46Players will take control of both Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, and Zuri, grandfather
14:51of T'Challa, the Black Panther we all know and love during World War II as they both
14:56fight to end Hydra before it becomes a powerful world controlling entity.
15:01The game is already a showcase piece for the Unreal Engine 5, with some of the most
15:05impressive facial animations we've ever seen, and given Hennig's catalog of games,
15:10we have very high hopes for this one.
15:22Metroid Prime 4 Beyond
15:25When we say we've been waiting a long time for this one, we mean a long time.
15:31First revealed back in 2017, Nintendo then announced in 2019 that development had restarted
15:37with original Metroid Prime developers Retro Studios at the helm.
15:41Fast forward another 5 years with no news and not only did we finally get our first
15:47true look at this long awaited sequel, but we also got a release window of 2025.
15:52Considering how impressive Beyond looks graphically, many are anticipating Metroid
15:57Prime 4 to be a cross-gen launch title for the Switch's successor, also coming in 2025.
16:03Outside of the impressive footage shown, we know next to nothing about Samus' next
16:08adventure, and honestly, we're okay with a little mystery.
16:12Claire Obscure Expedition 33
16:15One stroke, and everyone of that age vanishes into nothingness.
16:22Turn-based RPGs are as old as the genre itself, and while the term RPG has an incredibly loose
16:28definition these days, traditional turn-based RPGs are thankfully making a welcome comeback.
16:34Expedition 33 chronicles a group of explorers as they attempt to track down a painteress
16:39who wipes out an entire age group with each number she paints.
16:43The game is stunningly gorgeous thanks to Unreal Engine 5, and adds multiple layers
16:48to its turn-based combat to keep the player constantly engaged and on their toes with
16:52counters, parries, and quick-time events.
16:55With an incredibly unique setting, an inventive twist on turn-based combat, and an absolutely
17:00stacked cast including Andy Serkis, Ben Starr, and Charlie Cox, Expedition 33 is at the top
17:07of our most anticipated RPGs of 2025.
17:11We exist for as long as she wants.
17:17You won't yet understand.
17:21But this is a kindness.
17:23Death Stranding 2 On The Beach
17:29It's time for you to hit the road, and start a new journey.
17:33Death Stranding might not have been what long-time Kojima fans were expecting after
17:37the director's split from Konami, but the game has thankfully earned a much-deserved
17:42retrospective appreciation in recent years.
17:45With his apocalyptic sequel, Kojima is going bigger than ever before, and not only offering
17:51porters entirely new regions to explore, but also new combat mechanics to deal with mules
17:56and BTs.
17:57Sam will also seemingly have to deal with unpredictable weather effects, as well as
18:02unstable terrain as he once again navigates a crumbling world filled with all manner of
18:06supernatural entities.
18:08Kojima also recently showed off one of the most impressive photo modes ever seen in a
18:12video game, highlighting that taking photos of Sam's companions will also play into
18:17the game's overall narrative, as well as deepen the characters' relationship with
18:21Sam.
18:22Not bad, eh?
18:25Crimson Desert
18:27Are you telling me to jump from here?
18:29Don't worry, it's only one step.
18:34One step better not lead to the afterlife.
18:37Crimson Desert is without a doubt the kitchen sink of gaming in 2025.
18:42Combining elements of The Legend of Zelda exploration, Dragon's Dogma-style boss encounters,
18:47The Witcher 3's open world, and the recent God of War games as combat, as well as Assassin's
18:52Creed's stealth, parkour, and climbing abilities, all set within a massive medieval open world.
18:58And we do mean massive.
19:01The game has no shortage of expansive biomes for players to explore, as well as varied
19:06boss encounters and modes of transportation.
19:09Your horse can even drift, for God's sake.
19:12Originally planned as a prequel to Pearl Abyss's wildly popular MMORPG Black Desert, the team
19:17shifted the scope of the game to single player and dropped most of the typical RPG trappings
19:23in favor of an action-adventure experience.
19:25Crimson Desert is looking to be one of the most ambitious titles of 2025, but also one
19:31we're most excited to get our hands on.
19:43Ghost of Yotai
19:53Ghost of Tsushima blew everyone away with its unique approach to open world mechanics,
19:58solid characters and combat, as well as Sucker Punch's unrivaled attention to historical detail.
20:03Fans were understandably excited to continue Jin Sakai's rise as the Ghost, possibly on
20:08the mainland, but Sucker Punch decided to take a different approach with the sequel.
20:13Set in the shadow of the titular mountain of Yotai, the new Ghost Atsu will have access
20:18to all new weapons and abilities as she becomes the most hunted ronin in the land.
20:23Sucker Punch says their goal with the sequel is to set up future stories all inspired by
20:28Jin's actions, and giving players even more control over Atsu's narrative.
20:33The team is also working diligently to incorporate more unique open world activities than ever
20:38before to keep the gameplay loop from becoming too repetitive.
20:41We'll miss Jin, sure, but we still can't wait for this one.
20:46Grand Theft Auto 6
20:59Come on, there's nothing else that could have topped our list.
21:02After enough re-releases to rival Skyrim and single player DLCs scrapped in favor of the
21:07money printing machine GTA Online, long time GTA fans have been dying for the next mainline
21:14entry in their favorite crime riddled sandbox.
21:17Details are understandably scarce given Rockstar has only released one trailer so far,
21:22but the return to Vice City and the promise of numerous different biomes and islands to explore
21:27has fans grasping at any small tidbit that might slip through the cracks.
21:32The inclusion of viral social media moments, as well as the possibility of two protagonists,
21:37Lucia and her male counterpart, becoming internet sensations while outrunning the
21:41law offers a modern twist on the familiar GTA formula.
21:45Out of all the titles on this list, however,
21:47GTA 6 seems the most likely to suffer a delay following Rockstar's previous release history,
21:53but fingers crossed that we're wrong.
