00:00 Hello there, welcome to your morning weather from the Met Office. There's going to be a
00:05 three-way split in the weather over the next 24 hours. Looking at the bigger picture, this
00:10 area of low pressure bringing heavy rain to Wales and Northern England through the day.
00:15 It slowly moves away into Tuesday and then we see an area of high pressure building in
00:19 for a time before then further wet and windy weather comes into the north as we head into
00:24 Wednesday. Met Office warnings already in place for the strong winds across northern
00:28 parts of Scotland, 70 to 80 mph possible, so it is worth staying up to date with the
00:34 forecast over the coming days. We can see the three-way split nicely on the chart for
00:38 this morning. Outbreaks of heavy rain for parts of Wales into the Midlands, Northern
00:42 England and this will continue for much of the day. Perhaps some rain across south-western
00:47 parts of England too. To the south-east of this, generally cloudy, a few glimmers of
00:52 sunshine possible and then plenty of sunshine after a frosty start across parts of Northern
00:56 Ireland and Scotland. There is sunshine quite hazy across eastern areas and one or two showers
01:01 for the western and northern isles. A split in the temperatures too in the sunshine, 7
01:06 or 8 degrees, feeling quite cold under the cloud and the rain. Cold enough for some wet
01:11 hill snow over the highest ground across northern England too and then mild air to the south
01:17 of this rain band in any glimmers of sunshine highs around 13 or 14 Celsius. Met Office
01:23 warning remains in force through the evening and overnight into Tuesday mornings. This
01:27 heavy rain continues to slowly push its way north-eastwards into the North Sea, generally
01:32 cloudy for much of England and Wales into the early hours. Clear skies once more for
01:37 Northern Ireland and Scotland, so widespread frost developing here. One or two icy stretches
01:42 are possible. Temperatures here dropping below freezing in the countryside, under the cloud
01:46 and the outbreaks of rain elsewhere well above freezing. So, a great start across England
01:52 and Wales, outbreaks of light rain and drizzle, perhaps some surface spray on the roads from
01:56 the overnight rain. This slowly starts to push its way eastwards, allowing a little
02:00 bit of brightness to come into parts of Wales, south-west England, northern England later
02:04 on. Northern Ireland and Scotland, after a sunny start, a little bit more cloud building
02:09 through into the afternoon, a few showers across the Highlands and Islands, but most
02:13 places dry here. And temperatures overall a little lower, 7 to 9 Celsius for many, 10
02:19 or 11 towards the south-east, but with the cloud cover it will feel cooler than this.
02:24 It then turns more unsettled once more as we head into Wednesday. As I mentioned, met
02:28 obvious warnings in place for northern Scotland for those strong winds, so it is worth staying
02:33 up to date with the latest forecast. See you again soon.
