Meet the new manager of the Shields Ferry, who hails from Sunderland

00:00 Absolutely delighted to be in position and given the opportunity to be the
00:04 customer service operations manager for the ferry. It's iconic for the area and
00:08 it's been operating for decades and hope to continue the good work of the previous managers.
00:11 What does this role involve from your point of view?
00:15 Looking after the customers, making sure they have a great customer experience
00:18 both on the bus and the ferry and making sure that they're safe when they do the
00:22 crossings and also that we're complying with all the legislation which is around
00:26 that we have to be governed by. These ferries obviously iconic for the area
00:31 how does it really feel to be running them? Again coming from a maritime
00:36 background I think it's a fantastic opportunity to put my previous
00:40 experiences into play and offer some advice and guidance on my previous
00:44 experience as I already mentioned. And your previous experience in the Royal Navy?
00:47 That's correct.
