00:00 John, as you know, many Lions players found it tough to watch Super Bowl 58.
00:05 What do you think of that being the case?
00:07 Hearing all of this from Alex Angelone and a bunch of Lions players after Sunday's Super
00:12 Bowl.
00:13 Yeah, I could imagine it was real tough.
00:15 You recognize the Lions were this close to getting to the big game.
00:19 You realize they were 30 minutes away from appearing in a game they've never played in.
00:24 And for the Detroit Lions to collapse like that against the 49ers, it was stinging.
00:28 It was a heartbreaking loss.
00:30 But 24 hours later, Dan Campbell rallied the troops.
00:33 And I know that after the game, it was very sad, very solemn in the locker room and the
00:39 flight home.
00:40 But Dan Campbell riled everybody up and let everybody know, look, we're going to do whatever
00:43 it takes the next year to try and get there.
00:46 Recall, Vito, next year's Super Bowl is in New Orleans.
00:49 So a lot of personal ties for Dan Campbell and Aaron Glenn to potentially bring it full
00:54 circle to win it in the stadium in which they coached for so many years.
00:59 And so for Dan Campbell, his message to his players, most notably, Alex Angelone said
01:04 in his piece, Dan Campbell told the players, hey, watch the game, feel the sting.
01:09 Why?
01:10 To use it as motivation to realize that, hey, this Detroit Lions football team was very close
01:15 to appearing in a contest against the Chiefs.
01:18 And so during the game, obviously, Alex Angelone posted on social media.
01:23 He posted, not going to lie, this is tough to watch.
01:26 And for the Detroit Lions, I can understand that feeling, knowing that you were very close
01:31 to potentially being in that game, just falling short of the goals for the season.
01:36 All that work, all the training, all the effort, all the positivity that this football team
01:42 was able to garner with their successful season, only to have it come up short by not playing
01:48 well, not playing up to their capabilities, definitely made it tough for a lot of players.
01:52 But hopefully they listened to their head coach, they watched the game, and they recognized
01:56 that you're just that close to being a team that not only can appear in that game, but
02:02 also can hoist the Lombardi Trophy.
02:04 If the right moves are made and the right motivation continues for this group of young
02:08 players, then this football team, maybe the Lions, can hoist that Lombardi Trophy in New
02:13 Orleans in the beginning of 2025.
02:17 Maybe even the Lions.
02:18 All they got to do is take that next step now, John, this offseason.
02:21 John, thanks for all the time.
