00:00 Her original mom, her house got foreclosed, so she couldn't keep her.
00:05 She was surrendered at a year old.
00:07 I'm Rihanna, and this is Peach's story for GeoBeats.
00:13 I work at an animal clinic as a veterinary assistant, and we see one of the local Humane
00:19 Society cats for their vet checks and their vaccines and stuff like that, and they brought
00:23 Peach's as one of their recent surrenders.
00:28 She came to the clinic a couple times because she had a bacterial infection.
00:33 After we got her healthy and she was available for adoption, I adopted her.
00:37 The first two or three hours, she was hiding under the bed, but after that, she immediately
00:42 started being comfortable.
00:44 They didn't realize she was deaf when she was at the shelter.
00:47 I figured it out about a week in.
00:49 I tried talking to her, and she had no idea I was there, standing right behind her.
00:58 Everyone loves her pigeon purrs.
00:59 Immediately obsessed with her.
01:01 Some people said she sounds like a cicada when she purrs, or a little dinosaur when
01:07 she purrs.
01:08 I think pigeon's the most accurate.
01:10 The reason why she purrs is so funny.
01:12 It looks like an overgrowth of tissue of some sort.
01:19 Sometimes we're like, "Is this really a cat?"
01:21 Unreal how cute she is.
01:22 I turn the lights off and on when she's trying to find me, and I'm in a different room, and
01:27 she'll see the lights going on and off, and she'll find me that way.
01:29 Where are you?
01:30 Or I stomp on the floor.
01:31 She had to have a hip surgery.
01:37 I noticed really quickly she had a very teeny, tiny limp on one of her back legs.
01:42 Then we took x-rays and found out the head of one of her feet looks like it didn't finish
01:47 developing.
01:48 And I do happen to work for an orthopedic veterinarian, so he performed surgery to fix
01:52 her hip there.
01:55 She's exceptionally friendly.
01:58 She loves every person she's ever met.
02:00 I've introduced her to dogs.
02:02 We have some veterinarians who will bring their dogs to work with them where I work,
02:05 and I've introduced her to their dogs.
02:08 And all she wanted to do was play with their tails and sleep on their bed.
02:11 Oh, no.
02:13 She's a wicked snuggle bug.
02:16 She'll be happy just sleeping on your lap all day.
02:21 She likes to watch TV.
02:24 She'll be watching TV right now, and then the demons will possess her, and she just
02:27 wants to play.
02:28 And her tail goes all the way up to her back, and she'll do her little zoomies.
02:31 She thinks she can hide behind her bed, and we can't see her.
02:34 And then she'll come around the corner and pounce at you.
02:38 Every time you open the door, it kind of takes her three seconds to realize you're there
02:42 when she's looking at you.
02:43 It's like she's buffering.
02:44 And then she'll meow, run right over to you.
02:49 She knows where the food is on the counter.
02:52 So when I walk over to there, she'll see it, and she knows her favorite treats are greenies.
02:56 And she knows what the box looks like.
02:58 So anytime I grab that, she's right up on my side.
03:00 And then she'll walk over to the bowl with me.
03:03 Aside from her just not coming when called, you wouldn't really know she's deaf.
03:07 She's definitely a mama's girl, but she snuggles with her dad more.
03:11 I think that's because he's warmer than I am.
03:14 If she could hear me, I would tell her she's the best little baby princess.
