00:00 We're back with Harry Vandell, who's here revealing a lot of stuff about his health.
00:03 Terry, may I steal him for a second?
00:04 Sure.
00:05 Okay, come on over.
00:06 He mentioned his heart problem.
00:07 If you don't mind, I have a little surprise for you.
00:08 I mentioned a heart problem, so you have a surprise?
00:10 Yes, I just happened to come up.
00:12 That's an awkward segue.
00:13 Oh my God, and there's gloves.
00:15 Wait, you don't have to...
00:16 The gloves are sterile, by the way.
00:17 The insides are clean.
00:18 The gloves are sterile.
00:19 I love this.
00:20 The insides are clean.
00:21 Nothing would make me feel...
00:22 If you ever invite me over to your house, these should be at the front entry.
00:24 Wow.
00:25 Actually, I know...
00:26 Wow.
00:27 I used to do it on my head, you know that?
00:29 That's how I made a living.
00:30 Do you know about that?
00:31 How'd you do it?
00:32 It's not these.
00:33 I need the looser one.
00:34 Let me see if I got...
00:35 In years, years and years ago...
00:37 Oh, he got it.
00:38 He got it.
00:39 Wait, I got to take it away.
00:40 He got it.
00:41 Oh my goodness.
00:42 Wait.
00:43 Oh, it broke.
00:44 So, I bought my first house by taking gloves like this, pulling them over my head and inflating
00:55 them.
00:56 That was my act.
00:57 I didn't have to go to all those years of medical school to make a living.
01:01 Here's more gloves.
01:02 Why?
01:03 How many things do you have me touching?
01:04 Just in case.
01:05 Well, actually, I do want you to...
01:07 You don't have to touch this, but I want you to look at this.
01:09 What is it?
01:10 This is a human heart.
01:11 Why did you bring that?
01:12 Well, 'cause I want to show everybody...
01:14 It's a real human heart?
01:15 It's a real human heart.
01:16 Where's the person?
01:17 The person...
01:18 He's...
01:19 Can you imagine?
01:20 He's gone.
01:21 You've been finding me your whole life.
01:22 You want to be on the Dr. Rao Show, and here you are.
01:25 So...
01:31 Are you on?
01:32 No, I have a heart on.
01:34 That's good.
01:36 That's good.
01:38 Okay.
01:39 So, he has something called atrial fibrillation, right?
01:47 I do have AFib.
01:48 All right, so...
01:49 I had.
01:50 You had.
01:51 Well, I'm still dealing with it.
01:52 Well, let's talk about for a second what it is and what can I get.
01:54 It's like almost 3 million Americans.
01:55 Very common.
01:56 People die from this, guys.
01:57 If you don't figure it out and get it treated and get successfully managed...
02:00 I'm successfully managed right now.
02:02 So, the blood comes into the heart from the top.
02:04 That's the atrium, this part right here.
02:05 Yeah.
02:06 And then it goes into the muscle here.
02:07 You can touch if you want, but you don't have to.
02:09 It's completely up to you.
02:10 You want...
02:11 This sounds like my first date.
02:12 Remember that?
02:13 Okay.
02:14 You can touch if you want, but you don't have to.
02:22 Remember, honey?
02:23 I'm not touching your gloves.
02:24 What am I touching?
02:25 So, that's the atrium.
02:26 See how thin that is?
02:27 Yeah.
02:28 Feel how thin that is.
02:29 That's the atrium, yeah.
02:30 And feel this.
02:31 This is the muscle.
02:32 Oh, that's tough.
02:33 Yeah.
02:34 This looks like a healthy heart.
02:35 This was a healthy heart.
02:36 But in a similar atrium fibrillation, this atrium, this top part...
02:38 Yeah.
02:39 ...gets thinned out.
02:40 Right.
02:41 It sort of swells a little bit from pressure or blood pressure issues can cause, many things
02:44 can cause it.
02:45 Yeah.
02:46 And then it becomes like a bag of worms.
02:47 It begins to fibrillate like this instead of squeezing like it's supposed to.
02:49 Right.
02:50 And then, sometimes blood can get caught in these little crevices here.
02:53 Right.
02:54 And that blood can fly off to your brain.
02:55 A stroke.
02:56 Stroke.
02:57 And causes heart failure because if it beats too fast, your heart can't keep up with it.
03:00 All right.
03:01 So, both of those are...
03:02 Do you think this is good for my anxiety issues?
03:03 Thank you for watching.
