00:00 You just recently released some new music, right?
00:02 I did, yeah. I'm releasing music independently right now. It's a song called "Tripped."
00:06 It's about reluctantly sort of falling in love and it's been really fun to put out music on my own terms.
00:13 And I'm excited to... I have much more that I'm excited to share. So, yeah.
00:17 What has the fan response to this song "Tripped" been like so far?
00:20 It's been great. I think the people that are hearing it are loving it and it's been really nice to see positive reactions.
00:27 It's always nice to be able to... When you write a song, it's so personal.
00:30 And I'm sharing a part of myself in a way.
00:33 So to see other people connect to that and having fun with it is what it's all about.
00:38 Where are you drawing inspiration from when it comes to the new music you're making that we can expect maybe in the near future?
00:44 Where am I drawing inspiration from? I think the new stuff...
00:48 It's very honest. I feel like I always want to come from a place...
00:54 First and foremost, I want my music to make people feel good.
00:57 I want... With anything that I do, if I can leave some sort of positive impact on people around the world, that is usually the goal.
01:05 So with this new stuff, I have... Some things are a little bit more dancey.
01:10 But I feel like all in all, the through line is that it's always honest, it's always authentic, it's a little vulnerable and it's empowering.
01:17 We're celebrating Oscar nominees here tonight.
01:21 When it comes to Best Picture on Sunday, which movie are you rooting for?
01:25 To be honest, I'm not sure the exact... Is Past Lives nominated for... Okay, that's what I want to win.
01:30 I saw that movie. My mom and I see lots of movies together.
01:34 She's always taking me to the independent theaters.
01:36 And I knew nothing about this film. And she was like, "Just go into it blindly."
01:40 I was like, "Okay, I don't know if I'm going to like this one, but sure."
01:43 I walked out of that theater being so moved.
01:46 And one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. I just thought it was perfect.
01:51 So I hope that that wins.
01:52 It's a tearjerker. I was sobbing at that movie.
01:55 And the performances are so nuanced and beautiful and it's beautifully shot. It's just wonderful.
02:00 Who gave your favorite on-screen performance of the year?
02:03 I mean, I'm trying to think... Probably the entire cast of Past Lives.
02:12 I'm trying to think of... I mean, I loved Barbie as well. I thought it was so fun.
02:16 I mean, Margot Robbie was just the most perfect Barbie you could ever imagine.
02:21 What other movies did I love? I don't know. Also the entire cast of Society of the Snow.
02:25 I loved that film as well.
02:26 In the great Barbenheimer debate, which do you choose? Barbie or Oppenheimer?
02:31 Barbie. Sorry.
02:33 I feel like you are a Barbie. You're always giving Barbie.
02:37 Yes. Thank you. Thank you. I feel like I'm more like Teresa.
02:41 You know, because I'm like the brunette. That's the brunette friend, right?
02:44 But I feel like Barbie is a state of mind in the way that you do it all. You act, you sing.
02:48 I like that. Barbie is a state of mind. I will accept that compliment. Thank you.
02:52 If you were going to be a Barbie, which Barbie would you be?
02:55 Like, what would my Barbie name be?
03:00 Singer Barbie, President Barbie, Pop Star Barbie.
03:04 My friend and I were playing this game after we saw the movie.
03:08 I think I came out with, I think I was like, creative overthinking Barbie.
03:14 Honest Barbie. I love it.
03:18 - Yeah.
