00:00 Sustainability across the value chain
00:04 When it comes to implementing sustainability across the whole value chain,
00:15 we are acting at different levels.
00:17 We are acting at the site level,
00:19 we are acting at the logistics level,
00:21 and at the patient level.
00:24 When I mention the site level,
00:27 I want to share that all our 20 sites comply with the highest standards of emissions reduction
00:38 into the air, into the soil, or into the water,
00:42 that they also comply with the standards to make the most efficient use of natural resources.
00:47 We are focusing on energy.
00:49 What type of energy we are consuming,
00:51 how much energy we are consuming,
00:53 and last but not least, we are respecting the conservation of biodiversity
00:58 and we are also enforcing the preservation of biodiversity.
01:04 For example, here in Italy, the three sites in Bari, Guidonia and Ivrea,
01:10 in the last two years, have achieved a reduction of CO2 emissions by 28%.
01:15 They have reduced water consumption by 4%,
01:19 increasing the percentage of water and recycled waste.
01:22 There has also been an increase in waste recycling.
01:25 In Ivrea, there has been a reduction of 0% of waste water
01:28 by 4%, which we have been doing since July 2021,
01:33 and as well as an increase in the recycling of waste.
01:38 In the MERC group, we have the ambition to communicate to stakeholders
01:43 and to our investors to be neutral from a climate point of view by 2040.
01:48 To achieve this goal, we have put in place many plans
01:52 to intervene on our carbon footprint,
01:54 facing the use of energy, the way we operate,
01:57 the use of water, facing many other different things.
02:01 It has to be a multidimensional approach.
02:10 We have also taken a lead on the organization called SBTE,
02:14 which is the Science Based Target Institution,
02:19 to certify that the ambitions and the plans that we have been working on
02:24 are legitimate and realistic.
02:29 And we have gotten this certification two years ago.
