00:10 Recently, we talked about a dirty river, but for a good reason.
00:15 It can be cleaned in 10 days.
00:18 It really deserves to go viral because it proved that there's a way to help.
00:24 Come on, let's change the game in the care of nature.
00:27 [Music]
00:31 Thousands of kilos of garbage
00:33 [Music]
00:35 I don't want the planet to look like this and I'm pretty sure you don't either.
00:38 [Music]
00:41 Do you think it's possible to remove it from the Taguig-Pateros River in just 10 days?
00:47 This river used to be a vibrant fishing ground and now it is completely covered in rubbish.
00:52 Man, this is so brutal.
00:54 It's got a really bad stink.
00:57 Mike Smith was the one who managed to get the viral post of the Australian national.
01:02 But of course, he's not alone.
01:06 Mike has a collaborative effort with a few Filipino volunteers and several government agencies.
01:12 Our government is doing something on this problem.
01:14 It's a collaborative effort because they helped us.
01:17 When I got here, it was completely covered in rubbish and now it's basically clean.
01:22 And that's just a sample of the Australian-based company Mike Smith's clean-up work in the country.
01:28 Some estuaries in Manila are also on the list,
01:31 including Tanzamarine Tree Park and other areas that were voted.
01:35 Our goal for the next 12 months is to clean up all areas or problematic areas with a lot of rubbish.
01:44 Our series of videos will testify that we never discredit the LGUs.
01:50 [Music]
01:56 See? It's not impossible.
01:59 But the mission is not yet complete.
02:01 Because the maintenance of Taguig-Pateros River will be continued by Taguig City Hall and the municipality of Pateros.
02:07 Other government agencies are also involved.
02:10 [Music]
02:12 You can see here, there's no water.
02:15 It's all grass, water lilies and rubbish.
02:18 We got more than 7,538 sacks here.
02:25 What are our policies to ensure that our river is clean all throughout?
02:31 The next intervention will be to eat this.
02:34 We will dredge it.
02:35 Next, we will put trash traps.
02:38 [Music]
02:41 A few weeks after the viral video of the cleanup here in Taguig-Pateros River,
02:47 we will go around to check the situation here.
02:51 [Music]
02:53 We are with our Estero Rangers.
02:55 This is their work.
02:57 To carry soft drinks.
03:00 Here.
03:02 Single-use plastic from...
03:05 Is this for drinking, sir?
03:07 So, this is what we usually see.
03:09 We can see now, the sacks are passing by, sir.
03:12 So, these are the trash they collected.
03:16 They will collect that later.
03:18 They will put it in the transfer station.
03:20 Let's greet our Estero Rangers.
03:23 [Music]
03:25 We always remember that cleanliness starts with our own trash.
03:30 So, again, reminding everybody, be mindful of your waste.
03:34 Because our trash will come back to us.
03:38 For GMA Integrated News, I am Martin Aviar, changing the game.
03:43 The Balikatan exercises of the Philippines and America have started.
03:48 This is the first time that it will cross the territorial waters of the country.
03:52 This is also the first time that the French Navy will do it.
03:55 Ian Cruz is the one who will be the one to do it.
03:57 [Music]
04:00 In the middle of the rising tension in the West Philippine Sea,
04:04 between the Philippines and China,
04:06 and the ongoing harassment of China,
04:09 the Balikatan exercise, which started today, is the 33rd edition.
04:16 It will last until May 10.
04:19 More than 16,000 members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the US military
04:23 will be trained in missions including maritime security,
04:28 air and missile defense, and dynamic missile strike.
04:32 There is a contingent from the Australian Defense Force
04:35 and for the first time in the history of the Balikatan, the French Navy will be involved.
04:40 One of the groups that are waiting is the Multilateral Maritime Exercise.
04:46 In the Exclusive Economic Zone of the country in the West Philippine Sea in Palawan,
04:51 this is the first time that the exercise will cross the territorial waters of the country.
04:55 We aim to enhance our defense capabilities.
04:59 Cooperation and military-to-military collaboration play vital roles
05:06 in ensuring a safer global community for generations to come.
05:11 Balikatan represents more than just a showcase of military readiness.
05:16 It embodies the deep-rooted spirit of collaboration and partnership
05:21 that has defined the enduring alliance between the United States and the Philippines for decades.
05:28 The government agencies, including the Philippine Coast Guard,
05:32 will also participate in ensuring the safety of the people involved in the maritime exercise.
05:38 Sir, if a Chinese militia or a Chinese Coast Guard comes near, will you be able to stop them?
05:44 We will do what we need to do and ensure that no one will be disturbed or harmed in the exercises.
05:56 The Balikatan exercise director said that the exercise is not aimed at any country.
06:02 It's not really addressed to any aggressors.
06:05 But for the U.S., as we have been speaking, and the Philippine side,
06:10 it's more of the development of our interoperability.
06:14 I think well within your own sovereign rights and responsibilities,
06:21 we're conducting exercises that are normal.
06:27 No to U.S. Balikatan exercise. No!
06:32 The opening ceremony was accompanied by a protest by the new alliance of the people
06:36 and other groups to condemn the Balikatan exercises.
06:41 For GMA Integrated News, Ian Cruz, for 24 Hours.
06:47 The Chinese foreign ministry may have contradicted the G7 foreign ministers' statement
06:53 that they are the ones who are the dangerous invaders of China in the West Philippine Sea.
06:58 G7 is not noticing the truth and is justifying the right from the wrong.
07:06 This is one of the reasons for their internal affairs that should be stopped.
07:12 In the G7 statement, the countries of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom and America
07:20 said that they are the ones who are the danger to China in the South China Sea,
07:25 and the most dangerous invasion of China, such as the bombing of the Philippine ships.
07:36 Melchor Sadang is the new chairman of the Presidential Commission on Good Government or PCGG.
07:42 Before he became a member of the PCGG, which is the organization that works to restore the ill-gotten wealth of the Marcos family,
07:48 he was appointed as the Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals from 2011 to 2017.
07:54 He is also a member of the committee that is reviewing the courtesy resignations of some senior officials of the Philippine Police.
08:04 Iloilo City was put under state of calamity due to a shortage of water supply.
08:09 25 barangays are the most affected by the water crisis.
08:13 According to the Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council,
08:18 according to the declared declaration, the use of the 12.5 million pesos Quick Response Fund was approved.
08:26 In Ilagan City, in Isabela, a church was burned.
08:33 [Church bells]
08:39 A fire was spreading in the Heritage Church of St. Ferdinand Parish in Balangay Bagong Bayan earlier this afternoon.
08:55 Some items in the church were burned, such as chairs and images.
09:00 The entire importance of the church was also known.
09:03 Even the fire was extinguished, which is possible because of the electricity.
09:07 The Philippine's fame in sports is increasing.
09:13 Some of them added to our bets in the 2024 Paris Olympics, while Carlos Yulo has been proven.
09:21 This is what Rafi Tima is talking about.
09:26 If only by chance, in the 2024 Paris Olympics, Carlos Yulo will be seen in his golden boy outfit of Philippine gymnastics.
09:33 He won the Men's Parallel Bars of the 2024 Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Series in Doha, Qatar.
09:39 In a total score of 15.200 points, Yulo won the men's vault of Taiwan and Brazil.
09:45 In addition, Yulo won the first silver in the men's vault of both competitions.
09:49 I used my past mistakes as fuel. We analyzed every day what was much better to do and what will be in the finals.
10:04 Of course, the process and my training were not easy, but I am happy.
10:12 Before he went to the Olympics, Yulo promised in an exclusive interview of GMI Integrated News that he still has the mindset of an Olympian.
10:20 I focused on the pressure and challenge I gave to myself.
10:26 I focused on the noises outside. I didn't entertain them.
10:35 He thanked his former Japanese coach.
10:38 I am grateful that I met my former coach.
10:42 He taught me the values.
10:48 The way I do gymnastics now, we both worked on it.
10:56 But he still has a lot to do with his new coach and other participants in the Paris Olympics.
11:01 I know that I still have a lot to learn.
11:05 Yulo also fought in Doha with the film gymnast Levi Ruivivar, who won the silver in the uneven bars finals.
11:12 Because of that, he secured a spot in the Paris Olympics.
11:15 He is the second female gymnast to be selected to the country, followed by Alayia Finnegan.
11:20 Because of her fourth place in the 2024 Asia-Oceania Qualification Tournament in South Korea,
11:25 the rower Joanny Delgaco, who also entered the Paris Olympics, is the first Filipino Olympian rower.
11:31 According to the Philippine Olympic Committee, there are already 15 Filipino athletes who entered the Paris Olympics,
11:36 including the three qualified due to universality.
11:39 Meanwhile, the Filipino Q artist Michael Bawanan won the champion in the Bali International 10 Ball Open in Indonesia.
11:47 For GMI Integrated News, Rafi Timah, 24 Hours.
11:52 The Ombudsman recommended that the two former officials of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, OBFAR, be charged with graft.
12:00 Followed by the procurement of the Vessel Monitoring System, which is worth more than Php 2 billion.
12:06 This is the result of the agreement where France will lend to the Philippines for a project.
12:11 The winner bidder is SRT France, a subsidiary of SRT UK.
12:16 It is not qualified due to the economic development of the French Embassy,
12:21 because it is not aware that there is no manufacturing facility in any activity in France.
12:25 According to the Ombudsman, those who were eager to go to SRT UK for the project
12:31 had a disadvantage in the government that they had to jump the whole weight of it.
12:36 GMI Integrated News is trying to get the statement of the cases recommended in the Ombudsman's resolution.
12:43 EDSA is also planning to put a motorcycle lane according to the MMDA, like in Commonwealth Avenue.
12:52 As a preview, EDSA is expanding the bike lane or setting up a motorcycle lane.
13:00 Oscar Oida is on the scene.
13:02 This was just a while ago in the length of Commonwealth Avenue.
13:09 For DOTR, there is a considered good and successful way to implement the motorcycle lane in Commonwealth Avenue.
13:17 That is why they are now studying the possibility of putting a motorcycle lane in EDSA
13:23 compared to Commonwealth Avenue, which has more than 6 to 18 lanes in each direction.
13:30 EDSA is more attractive.
13:33 What if we expand the bike lane a little bit, and that lane will be a motorcycle and bicycle lane.
13:43 But that is just the initial concept.
13:47 According to the MMDA, the bicycle lane in EDSA is a bit underutilized.
13:53 If they will put a motorcycle lane, there should be a division that is really separate from the motorcycle.
14:03 Those proposals need to be studied more.
14:06 We can give control to the road that we are entering.
14:13 It will not actually solve the whole problem of EDSA, but at least we can have a plan to help reduce it.
14:22 The chairperson of the Motorcycle Rights Organization is against this.
14:26 He says that the need for a more narrow lane is not necessary, but a more narrow implementation of the traffic law.
14:34 What needs to be studied here is the root cause of the problem, which is the flow of traffic.
14:40 They are focused on attracting riders, but our airing drivers will not be able to do it.
14:46 The problem of discipline is the problem of all types of vehicles, not just motorcycles.
14:53 Senate Committee on Public Services Chairperson Grace Poe understands the intention of the proposal.
15:00 But the MMDA has already tried this, like the Commonwealth.
15:04 It should be a part of the plan, the result of the so-called experiment.
15:11 For Senator Nancy Binay, a member of the so-called committee,
15:15 the DOTR should focus on the safety, comfort and proper mass transportation networks.
15:25 The DOTR's answer.
15:27 This is not a priority. The subway project is running in full blast, the North-South Commuter Railway.
15:37 Anytime this coming month, the LRT-1 Cavite Extension will open a partial operation.
15:45 For GMA Integrated News, Oscar Oida, for 24 Hours.
15:55 Kapuso, the major crossover in Afternoon Prime and GMA Prime is almost here.
16:00 This week, Elias, or Black Rider, will be able to watch the Apex Medical Center with the help of Doc Annalyn.
16:08 We should all be waiting for the news of Obri Carampel.
16:12 After being challenged in the action scenes in Black Rider, the star of the new gen, Jillian Ward,
16:24 the prime time action hero, Ruru Madrid, will be able to watch the Apex Medical Center.
16:29 The joining of their characters as Elias Guerrero and Doc Annalyn Santos will be watched this week.
16:41 Elias and Annalyn will be the first to meet Black Rider, which will be watched on Wednesday night.
16:49 And the intense scene of the "Abot Kamay na Pangarap" will be followed, which will be aired on Thursday afternoon.
16:56 I had to respond to the Apex Hospital and the unexpected opportunity, suddenly someone bumped into us.
17:06 In the scene, Annalyn just wanted to eat her mom and her boyfriend, she was hit by a gun.
17:13 Oh no, Black Rider.
17:16 It's an honor for Ruru and Jillian to be part of their beloved series,
17:21 which is both leading in the prime and afternoon prime of Kapuso Network.
17:26 I heard the medical terms that she was saying, and at the same time, she experienced the explosion of squibs, fight scenes.
17:36 So it's funny that BR and Abot Kamay na Pangarap crossed paths.
17:41 It's such an honor to have this kind of crossover, and Ruru is still on our show.
17:47 And as Doc Annalyn, I experienced Black Rider, it's so intense and tiring to watch their taping.
17:55 Ruru is more inspired to work, because aside from the new characters and plot twists that will be watched in Black Rider,
18:04 Kapuso Prime Series of Bronze Medal won in the prestigious 2024 New York Festivals for TV and Film Awards.
18:12 It's so heartwarming to receive this kind of award, not only here in our country, but also in New York.
18:23 So we're very happy, and this will serve as a strength for us to continue what we're doing, our work.
18:34 Aubrey Carampel, updated to showbiz happenings.
18:37 And for the news this Monday, I'm Mel Tiangco.
18:43 I'm Vicky Morales for a bigger mission.
18:46 For a wider service to the country, I'm Emil Sumangyo.
18:49 From GMA Integrated News, the news authority of the Philippines, we're in Tuto, 24 hours.
