00:00L.A. Clippers assistant coach Tyronn Lue is no longer considered to be in the mix for
00:03Philadelphia's Vegna coaching position.
00:05Instead, former Clippers head coach Doc Rivers is supposed to be the guy for the Sixers now,
00:10and a deal could be imminent according to Philadelphia Inquirer's Keith Pompey.
00:15Rivers reportedly met with Philadelphia's ownership on Wednesday night and watched Game
00:181 of the NBA Finals with them, and there seems to be a good chance that the hire is announced
00:22as soon as this weekend.
00:24As far as the Clippers are concerned, the franchise has to be happy with this news.
00:26Not only will Rivers be getting another job in the near future, but Lue now has one less
00:31option on the table.
00:32Other franchises will surely be courting Lue.
00:35As it stands, the Sixers, Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder, New Orleans Pelicans, and Houston
00:39Rockets remain without a head coach.
00:41He's emerged as a strong candidate to replace Rivers in L.A., but the front office is planning
00:46to interview additional options soon, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
00:50It remains to be seen how many candidates L.A. will consider.
00:53Jeff Van Gundy is supposedly one of them, and while Clippers' assistant Sam Cassell
00:58hasn't emerged as a name just yet, it would be surprising if he wasn't in the mix as well.
01:03That said, this is arguably the most important decision the franchise has had to make in
01:06its 50-year history.
01:07The Clippers have never been closer to winning an NBA title so far, and with only one guaranteed
01:13year of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George remaining, there is no margin for error.
01:17Whether Lue ends up in L.A. for the job or not, it's going to be a thorough, drawn-out
01:21process in Rivalry Zone.
