00:00L.A. Clippers guard Lou Williams believes he should be strongly considered to win this
00:04year's Sixth Man of the Year award, so long as his teammate, Montrezl Harrell, can share
00:08it with him.
00:09Following the team's first scrimmage in Orlando, where Lou Williams scored a game-high 22 points
00:14off the bench in 16 minutes, he told reporters why he feels that both he and Harrell deserve
00:19to win the award this year, saying, quote,
00:21Williams is a good point here, assuming he and Harrell can both keep the numbers in the
00:41bubble consistent with the award of their season, they have become the first duo in
00:44league history to average 17 or more points per game off the bench.
00:48On top of that, the Clippers have the highest scoring bench in the league this season at
00:5251.5 points per game, and Harrell and Williams are a huge part of that.
00:57Being named the co-Sixth Man of the Year is certainly a possibility, but OKC guard Dennis
01:01Schroeder has a strong argument to win the award as well.
01:03The 26-year-old is averaging 19 points, 3 points in the rebounds, and 4.1 assists in
01:0831 minutes per game this season, and he's had efficient shooting numbers to boot.
01:12That said, Schroeder averages more minutes per game than both Williams and Harrell do,
01:16and the Clippers' star reserves both score more points per 36 minutes than Schroeder does.
01:21Earlier this week, the NBA announced that award voting for this season would be conducted
01:24between July 21st and 28th, before the seeding games begin on July 30th.
01:29It's part of a measure to ensure that voters only take into account everything that's happened
01:33before the season was suspended on March 11th due to the coronavirus pandemic,
01:36as not all of the league's 30 teams will be resuming play next week.
01:40At the very least, Williams and Harrell will almost certainly be considered finalists for
01:44the award, but Luke Williams has his sights set higher than that. They just have to blame him for it.
