Sources: Lou Williams has left the NBA Orlando bubble
Transcript
00:00Sources have confirmed to allclippers.com that Lou Williams has left the NBA bubble
00:04in Orlando.
00:05The LA Clippers are now down a handful of players in the bubble, including EBC's Zubats,
00:10Montrezl Harrell, Patrick Beverly, Landry Schammett, and now Williams, who is out due
00:14to personal reasons and an excused absence.
00:17In terms of their players, Montrezl Harrell and Patrick Beverly both have emergencies
00:20to deal with right now, EBC's Zubats is out for unknown reasons, and Landry Schammett,
00:25after being tested positive for coronavirus on July 4th, is expected to join the team
00:30soon.
00:31He posted on Instagram a couple weeks ago, or about last week actually, talking about
00:34how his quarantine period was almost over.
00:36He's expected to join the team soon, but is still out of practice this morning.
00:40Williams was just the leading scorer for the Clippers in their first scrimmage game on
00:43Wednesday, scoring a team-high 22 points.
00:45He also is the current reigning 6th man of the year and a very integral part of the Clippers'
00:50success.
00:51The situation is a bit concerning for LA, they're missing a lot of very key and important
00:55players right now.
00:56While there was a good chance that many of them returned for opening night against the
00:59Lakers on July 30th, they're missing invaluable practice time right now.
01:03The Clippers never really had a chance to have a fully healthy roster for training camp
01:06in October, and this is a chance to have one instead now that they're even worse off than
01:10they were before.
01:11Doc Rivers confirmed offhand that Williams is no longer in the bubble.
01:15At the end of team's media availability, Rivers confirmed off-camera that Williams, Harrell,
01:19and Beverly are not in the bubble right now.
01:21Over the past week, some of the problems in the bubble have clearly been exposed.
01:24Players have lives, they have children being born, they have to leave the bubble numerous
01:27times.
01:28On Friday morning, Marcus Morris mentioned that his second son will be born in September.
01:33He'll be leaving for that birth as well, so hopefully this is an early sign that the bubble
01:36will collapse in the near future.
