Montrezl Harrell may not get the money he was expecting
Transcript
00:00 Montrezl Harrell's free agent market value was revealed recently.
00:04 In an article by Yovan Buha of The Athletic, he mentioned that Harrell's market value is
00:09 somewhere between 8 to 12 million annually, depending on the team, his role, and the length
00:14 of contract.
00:15 Now, that kind of is unfortunate for him because earlier reports were stating that he was going
00:20 to get up to 20 million or that he was hoping for 20 million.
00:23 And for the most part, that loss is due to two big things.
00:28 One, his playoff performance.
00:31 He had a phenomenal regular season, putting up 18.6 points per game, 7.1 rebounds, and
00:36 getting himself his first six man of the year award.
00:39 But as soon as the playoffs started, he was largely unplayable throughout the entire playoffs,
00:43 and he averaged 10.5 points per game and 2.1 rebounds while being a complete, complete
00:50 disaster defensively.
00:53 Not only that, but it seems like a lot of players just aren't going to, a lot of mid-level
00:56 players aren't going to get the payday they were hoping because of COVID-19.
01:01 You know, the NBA may lose up to $1 billion and have a record salary cap drop because
01:06 of COVID-19, and that doesn't include the potential of losing $500 million after Daryl
01:11 Morris Hong Kong China debacle situation.
01:15 So all in all, there's just not going to be that much money for NBA players and sports
