00:00After disappointing end to what could have been the most successful year in LA Clippers
00:03franchise history, head coach Doc Rivers is no longer with the team according to ESPN's
00:08Adrian Wojnarowski.
00:09The Clippers, led by stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, were eliminated after blowing
00:13a 3-1 lead to the Denver Nuggets in the second round of this year's NBA playoffs.
00:17Rivers was heavily criticized for his coaching decisions of the series, and rightfully so.
00:21For example, Nuggets star Nikola Jokic was dominant against the Clippers of the series,
00:25but much less so when he beat the Zubats as his primary defender.
00:28Yet Rivers continued to keep Montrezl Harrell on the floor with him, even when all the evidence
00:32suggests that he should not.
00:33Moreover, it was the second time in Rivers' tenure with the Clippers that one of his teams
00:36blew a 3-1 lead in the postseason.
00:39The first occasion took place in 2015 when LA was to be about Houston Rockets.
00:43Now as Clippers go into what could be the final season of Leonard and George's partnership
00:47in LA, they have to work not only on improving the roster, but finding a new coach as well.
00:51And while there is no word on who will be the frontrunner to take over as LA's next
00:54head coach, the Clippers certainly have options if they want to make an internal hire.
00:58Tyronn Lue and Sam Cassell are among the most experienced assistant coaches in the NBA,
01:03and both are considered to be in the running for other head coaching vacancies around the
01:07league.
01:08It wouldn't be shocking if one of those two eventually took over.
