00:00The L.A. Clippers took a commanding 3-1 series lead of the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night,
00:04winning 96-85 behind a monster showing from Kawhi Leonard.
00:09As a result, the team is now just one win shy of advancing to the West Conference Finals,
00:13a would-be first in the history of the franchise.
00:15According to ESPN Stats and Info, L.A.'s 49 seasons without reaching the league's penultimate
00:20playoff round are by far the most among any team in the NBA, NFL, MLB, and NHL.
00:27This is a big deal not only for the Clippers fans, but in the history of American sport.
00:32The Clippers players and coaching staff, on the other hand, don't seem to care about how
00:35close they are to making history.
00:37Just ask Doc Rivers, who said after the game, the team had, quote, zero reaction and ended
00:41up 3-1 in the series, saying, quote, Leonard echoed Rivers' sentiments, downplaying the
00:51results of the contest, and has touched it from the focus to closing out the series on
00:55Friday, saying, quote, it's always good if you can make it to the next round, but, you
00:59know, we've got a lot of work to do still.
01:02The Denver team does not quit.
01:03They've got a good group over there and a good coach, so we're still fighting.
01:07Now last of the Clippers in the current position, they blew a 3-1 lead in the 2015 West Conference
01:11Finals, or Semifinals, to the Houston Rockets.
01:13It was a historic crash, one that L.A. never seemed to recover from, really.
01:16In the two seasons that followed, the Clippers fell to make it out of the first round and
01:20eventually took up the entire roster, you know, trading Chris Paul, trading Blake Griffin,
01:24a lot of things happened as a result of that series loss, really.
01:28Of course, this current group shares little more than a name with the old L.A. teams.
01:33Doc Rivers is the only real consonant there, so it's understandable that making it out
01:36of the second round doesn't really hold that same significance of this team as it does
01:39to a team like that.
01:41Game five between the Clippers and Nuggets will take place this Friday, September 11th,
01:44at 6.30 p.m. Eastern Time.
01:47If the Clippers go the series out, they'll await the winner of the Los Angeles Lakers
01:50and Houston Rockets in the Conference Finals.
