Transcript
00:00 Hi everybody and welcome back to Raider Maven TV your full coverage of the Las Vegas Raiders here at Sports Illustrated
00:06 I am your host Kim Becker joined by two very special gentlemen today
00:10 We have Josh Briscoe the publisher of Arrowhead Report your full coverage of the Kansas City Chiefs and as always
00:17 Hondo Carpenter publisher of you guessed it Raider Maven gentlemen, how are we doing today?
00:22 Thanks, Kim. Good to be here and Josh. We got to put a bet on this
00:26 Don't we barbecue and slot machines or something? Yeah, I feel like I'm probably getting
00:31 Perhaps the more tempting end of that. But yeah, I'm ready you guys name the terms. I feel pretty good about this one
00:37 Yeah, you should I'm not gonna take that bet unless you're laying a ton of points
00:41 Well guys, like you said we have a big AFC West matchup coming up here on Sunday as the Kansas City Chiefs host the Las Vegas
00:50 Raiders Josh
00:51 I'm gonna start with you if the Kansas City Chiefs come out with a win against the Raiders here in week five
00:56 What is the team going to be focusing on as they move forward into the next couple of weeks?
01:00 And on the other hand if they come out with a loss
01:02 What is the team going to be looking at as they head into week six? I?
01:05 Mean everything going on just like around the NFL right now. It's obviously impacted both Raiders and the Chiefs already
01:13 So I think that we were gonna have those sort of larger storylines impacting anything that happens win loser
01:18 Apparently draw something we're doing again in the NFL miss those
01:21 But I think the main thing in this game that I'm gonna be interested in and they'll be taken away from is just simply what?
01:27 The offense looks like in terms of kind of slotting itself in through these first four weeks
01:32 We've seen a really excellent Patrick Mahomes performance against the Baltimore Ravens and then last week against the Patriots
01:38 We saw one of my homes is maybe least impressive performances
01:41 It still gives him like an average among anyone else in the sport
01:45 But that's the scale that we grade Patrick Mahomes on and so I think that's something we'll be able to take away here
01:50 Offensively on the other side. It's just will the Chiefs defense keep looking legitimately good and it has this year
01:56 It's had one of the best past defenses in the NFL without any real stars there beside Tyron Matthew
02:00 Certainly the cornerback position has just been turned over over and over again
02:04 So both sides of the ball bring really really interesting storylines again win or lose on Sunday
02:09 And Honda, what about you if the Las Vegas Raiders come out with a win against the Kansas City Chiefs?
02:14 What is John Gruden and his team going to be focusing on?
02:18 Well Kim as you know coming into the season
02:20 I predicted the Raiders to lose both games
02:22 but still get to ten wins in the playoffs the Raiders are not good enough to go into Arrowhead and beat the Chiefs and
02:29 Have to beat themselves the self-inflicted wounds have to end the bad penalties the turnovers
02:35 They're not good enough
02:37 Kansas City can go into this game and make mistakes and still be both the Raiders in themselves
02:42 The Raiders can't do that on top of it. The Raiders are so injured
02:46 I do believe Trent Brown's gonna play I do expect Henry Ruggs to play
02:49 I just left practice a few moments ago both were there and practicing
02:53 But still guys coming off of injuries for the Raiders, they're gonna have to play their most complete game
02:59 They're gonna have to play mistake free football
03:03 Their margin of error is so small that it could be one personal foul
03:08 It could simply be one hole that brings up some points off the board or even
03:12 Literally something like a bad route and a ball gets tipped and gets intercepted
03:17 There's no margin of error and you know this in the NFL teams are not going to play perfectly
03:23 Now let's give Patrick Mahomes the credit including Tom Brady. He is the best quarterback in all of the NFL
03:30 No one else even compares to him
03:32 So when Josh refers to him not having great games
03:35 That means his not great games are where other quarterbacks want to be now lost in the Raiders being two and two
03:42 Is that Derek Carr has been one of the best quarterbacks in all the NFL as well. No interceptions
03:48 He has played mistake free
03:50 That's why they're two and two if anyone else was at the home not named Patrick Mahomes
03:54 I think they would be owing forward with the way that this team is set up
03:57 But the defense is gonna have to play their best game of the year and even fully healthy
04:02 I think going into arrowhead this week
04:04 They would have lost so other than mistake free football, which I've covered it for so many years
04:09 I've never seen him a strike free game
04:11 I don't think there's a whole lot of hope for the Raiders, but they are a team on the rise Josh. Don't get an ego
04:16 Well, like you said no NFL team is perfect and especially this year without preseason and all this injuries
04:24 I mean, it's been kind of a toss-up, but it is always fun to see a divisional matchup
04:29 So I know that I'm excited to see this game on Sunday gentlemen
04:32 Thank you both so much for your time and we will see you on the other side of week five
04:35 Thanks, Kim
