Arrowhead Report's Tucker Franklin and Jordan Foote discuss the Kansas City Chiefs' possible options at cornerback following the injury to L'Jarius Sneed.

00:00 Jordan, you and I kind of discussed this before we came on and started recording.
00:06 I just think Spagnuolo likes the versatility of guys in those sometimes those aging vets
00:10 and those younger guys can show versatility better than, you know, a top level corner
00:15 can and where he's just stuck to one position.
00:17 So I think that's part of it.
00:18 I know Spagnuolo talked about with Legereus Sneed, he loved the versatility in the press
00:22 conference, I believe after the first game of the season, he talked about that was a
00:26 big draw for Legereus Sneed was that he could play safety and cornerback.
00:31 So I think that kind of fits into it that I think the Chiefs are very good at scouting
00:34 talent.
00:35 I'm not saying that they aren't, but I think they're good at scouting talent that's very
00:38 versatile.
00:39 Yes, definitely.
00:42 And also, the reason they can afford to pay guys like Chris Jones, Tyron Matthew, Frank
00:48 Clark, Patrick Mahomes is because they spend the 31st most amount in the league at the
00:54 cornerback position.
00:55 They just don't, they either have Bashad Breland who's making like a million bucks,
01:00 they have Rashad Fenton, sixth round pick, Bo Peat Keyes, late round pick, Legereus Sneed,
01:06 fourth round but still a day three pick, Charverius Ward, very cheap contract.
01:10 They don't, Antonio Hamilton, less than a million bucks.
01:13 They're realizing that you can get solid cornerback play for cheap, you can get elite cornerback
01:20 play for elite money, but if you have a good pass rush, and you have an offense that can
01:26 afford to give up some points on defense and get them back on offense, you can have an
01:30 okay secondary.
01:31 Yeah, totally agree.
01:33 And I think that, especially in the age of football that we're in right now where it's
01:37 very pass heavy, and you realize teams are going to get their points and because even
01:42 the pass interference rules are more geared towards offense and it's just so hard to be
01:46 a coverage guy right now, if you get cheap guys to do it, do a solid job at it, why not?
01:53 Because they are able to spend money, like you said, I think that's a great point that
01:56 you made, that with spending 31st in the league in safety or in quarterback play, gives them
02:02 all these opportunities to get these great guys around them.
02:04 Yeah.
02:05 Absolutely.
